The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

Well, I 'saved' £1440 today by not buying a registration plate in a DVLA auction :)

I think I am still okay for gear though..... :)
Mine cost me £250 in 1999 and has been on 6 cars now, so not a bad investment. Does anyone remember Durst darkroom equipment? Their top man had DUR5T on his car, was reputed to have cost a lot of money. Now they're no longer in business the reg plate seems to have disappeared.

I bought my daughter her initials, year she was born, and then (part of) the surname.

The one I was watching was RAT a single number and then on a 70/71 'J' suffix - which is the same year as the Mk1 Escort. Would have been nice, but as I said, not £1450 nice :ROFLMAO: The one I had in mind before that is £250 all in and probably what I will go for now.

My wife is called Sally and in the early 80's we finished up with a Mini that had the reg: SAL 222N Changed cars but let the reg go, Worth quite a few thousand now.

I've worked in camera stores with less stock...
it's a good job I didn't make any New Year resolutions, this little lot arrived today, all new and boxed.20250219_131719.jpg

A few years back Norway introduced personalised plates. Max 7 letters, including any gaps, no brand names and nothing obscene. NOK 10K (approx £1K) for 10 years right of use. I chose SLAINTE - couldn't think of anything more Scottish than that.

Just got a 1DSiii and a cheap 50mm to try and see what Canon are like. Seems pretty solid.
You won't find a much more solid body... I love mine.

The cheap 50mm lenses less so. I have two 50mm f/1.4 lenses, one is good, one a bit inconsistent, but neither feels "solid".

If the budget can stretch to an EF 100mm f/2.8 L, now that is a great combination.

I've been thinking of purchasing a drone for a few years, now there affordable and have very good specs, this got delivered today, I'm looking forward to getting out and trying it out.

Something else to carry :)

You'll be needing another/bigger bag soon....... :ROFLMAO: :exit:

Where do you source these luxury Nikon items?
You’ve got it bad . . . Lol

Well done you…
All over the globe, mainly Japan, Germany and Italy, with a few from within the U.K

My gas is slowly receding, had a terrible amount the last six months. Tried three different cameras! Finally settled on something that's far far far more capable then I ever will be and produces images good enough for my needs.

I'm afraid I seem to have AGAS (ant-gear aquisition syndrome).

Every time I lust after something, that little guy on my left shoulder shouts "YOU DON'T NEED THIS!" in my ear. :wideyed:

I can't figure out how to get rid of the pest...

Sometimes I wish I'd got one of those....

Good to see you are in remission but cured .. nah :)

Isn't one of those more expensive than a camera addiction? I know it allows more purchases but surely it removes the means to make them?

not so much GAS and SRS - sellers remorse syndrome. I took some stuff to the local shop to sell, it's not moving and I was missing it so I've collected it back rather than lower the price. :ROFLMAO:

That's weird, was only talking about that today!! I regret selling (a few years ago now) my M mount Voigtlander 40/1.4 Classic & my Leitz Tele-Elmarit 90/2.8 (thin) - The most annoying part, financially I didn't really need to sell them. I just wasn't using them much at the time & I'm one of those people who thinks in that way.

I'd hate stuff to be sat around unused - "what's the point of keeping it if you aren't using it?"

Well, I've learnt now, that one day I might want to use it :)

Ah that's annoying. I also don't like have thing sitting around not being used and that was part of the motivation to trade in. This time what clinched getting it back was speaking with my daughter as she has a need for the stuff too. @Phil V will be pleased to know the canon ef 135 f2 is among the rescued items.

I'm on my third 135gm, buy sell and miss so buy again - learnt my lesson now though.

Its quite short (127mm) fat (82mm) and heavy (950g) but I love it :)

I had the Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8L on a free test drive from Canon over the weekend.
I used it to photograph my local parkrun on Saturday and took it to London with me as I was photographing the Cancer Research London Winter Run 10K on Sunday.

Amazing is an understatement.

Lens was collected on Monday and I ordered it on Tuesday evening :ROFLMAO: looking forward to using this lens a lot!!

My wife thinks I need to go into therapy :ROFLMAO:

My purchases since November:

Canon R1
RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z
RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z
RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM
RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM

I'm going to take a serious look at my kit and start to downsize a little as I've got lenses that I simply don't, or won't in the future, use any more

Canon R1 (keep)
Canon R3 (keep)
Canon R5 (keep)
RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z (keep)
RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z (keep)
RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM (keep)
RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM (keep)
RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM (keep)
RF 85mm f/1.2L IS USM (sell)
RF 50mm f/1.2L IS USM (sell)

RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro (keep)
RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM (sell)
EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM III + 1.4x and 2.0x extenders (sell)

Although the 100-300 will probably now be my main sports lens, especially for running, I won't get rid of the 70-200. But the 100-300 and 24-105 give me a perfect focal range in a constant 2.8 aperture.
The 85mm 1.2 is a tough one, it's a lens I never needed and have hardly ever used, but it's the lens I always wanted to own. I just wish I had a real use for it.

Wow that's an amazing line-up :) for the 85, you can always buy again if you need it, no? But it's hard to part with them sometimes I get it.

This is all of them apart from the 100-300, that was ordered yesterday so I should have it within a week.
I'll need to remove the drones to make room for it. :)

Nasty buzzy things, drones! Yeah, chuck 'em out, let them live outside behind the dustbin ... :D:exit:

Let me know when you put stuff in the for sale section please.
I'm interested in the old EF stuff.

I tried to buy into an obsolete system but struggled to find any lenses I wanted. It looks like you've had better luck.
The 100-400 sold it for me.
There is no better EF lens available.
