The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

I rarely use my A7IV, but because I have a fast 27mm APS-C prime I love, I feel like I am obligated to get a matching prime for the big camera.

Or get yourself a 24-70 2.8 a versatile do everything lens! Not to give you more ways to spend your money of course!!

I keep thinking about grabbing an older EF 50 1.2. I’ve got the EF 50 1.4 and I don’t really need it, but….

Not bought a new lens or camera since 2020 ish. my GAS us truly over after grabbing the original A1 mk1 as i felt it was the most perfect camera ever that has large resolution and Sports style AF system

I loved the Konica III that much just purchased the IIIA to add to the collection. They made some beautiful cameras Konica. Should be here later in the month from Japan.

First purchase of 2026 is arriving today.

Hasselblad XCD 135mm with the 1.7x teleconverter.

It's the closest I can get to a longer focal length on my medium format X2D II, 135mm (105mm full frame equivalent) and 230mm (178mm full frame equivalent) with the 1.7 attached, with apparently no image degradation (we shall see).

I've got a Sony A1 and Sony 200mm-600mm itch at the moment always shot on Canon got a R5mk2 and a R7 but Sony is calling me..

Last year when money was tight I sold my beloved Fuji XF 35mm F/1.4, and replaced it with a Viltrox 35mm Air F/1.7.

Objectively, the Viltrox is pretty much better in every way: it’s small, light, the autofocus is excellent, it’s sharp from wide open, and when I took a photo with it that I’d previously taken with the Fuji, I couldn’t really see any difference. The only downside is that it doesn’t have an aperture ring, but I’ve got that mapped to a control dial so it’s not a problem…

…but I’m still pining for the Fuji, and seriously considering getting another one. Someone please talk me out of it!

Stuck a split prism focussing screen into a D700. Seems to work pretty well with AI lenses (I've got a few). Spot focus on the centre point now meters at +2EV but everything else is good. Manual lenses only do centre and matrix metering, which are fine.

If you have the budget and it won't deplete your funds to the point where an emergency fund/ unexpected drama arrives and you will be in a difficult / hard/ impossible place, then why not? If it means the opposite, step away from the keyboard....

I'm way ahead of you, tbh. I've got the Fuji on order from e-infinity, and I've sold a couple of lenses to offset the cost :)

About to buy, from Japan, a Canon lens. FD 35-105 f3.5 to use on the T70. Just need to ensure we are around when it is delivered... So far, experience of Japanese sellers on Ebay has been 100%.

(Looked for the same lens in the UK, mostly listed as having haze/fungus)

Had a serious bought of gas recently since getting the ZF, I have also purchased a 40mm f/2 SE, a 24-70mm f/4 (now selling as not impressed), a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 G2 and just this morning pulled the trigger on a Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 G2, plus various 67mm filters.

Hopefully the condition will settle down over the coming weeks!

I recently took some pictures of an Iris for the wife, she was happy.... I was not, lighting was terrible.
Following some research and watching the dreaded youtube videos I ordered these - just couldn't help myself ........

Sent it back.... Shutter button and advance lever were pretty loose Which is a shame because it was a nice camera.

Not sure what to do next....
Go for one of the Konica III or II models from vintage Japan camera from his Etsy store. I'm have just ordered a Konica IIIA from him. I have never paid any fees either into the UK from him and in have orders at least five different cameras over the last couple of years.

Certainly looks nice and interesting but wrong focal length unfortunately.

48mm is the new 40mm :)
good luck with your search.

I was actually worried 40mm might be too tight :ROFLMAO: But, it felt okay tbh.

I shot 40mm for quite a few years (2015 - 2021) until I got the 35GM but even then, I did still keep and use the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 also. X100f is 35mm and on film I tend to shoot at 28mm or 35mm.

48/50mm though I think might be a bit too tight to what I prefer.

It's really strange with focal lengths we prefer i love the xf23 f1.4 on Fuji so 35mm in full frame terms. I have never got on with the xf 35f1.4 but seem happy with the 48 mm on film. I enjoy the Pentax 28mm f3.5 on film and at 42 mm on Fuji as legacy glass.

It is and it didn't :ROFLMAO:
Result! I am pondering getting an OM camera. I did have an Olympus set up once before - the body became bigger and I decided to trade it in. I was with a friend at the Photoshow who bought one, downsizing from a Sony set up... I made the mistake of picking up the OM5ii.... can't seem to get the idea out of my head... time is running out on the cashback though.

Pre-digital, I decided my Nikons were too heavy, so tried out a pair of OM1s.

Took about six months for me to go back to the Nikon Fs. Nothing wrong with the Olympuses but the Nikons were the 35mm camera for me...
