So how many of you use the ND filter? I must admit I keep forgetting it even has one, but I'm struggling on really sunny days when shooting wide open. Is it right that the max shutter speed is 1/1000?
Well my Screen Protector arrived today and I've ordered a Gordy Strap, loving the camera so far
Has anyone used ND/Grad Filters on their X100?
My x100 is on its way back from Fuji as they repaired sticky blades. Assuming all is well I'm after a Gordy strap - where did you source yours Chris?
I plan to try it out with my filters soon too. I understand that the EVF compensates for ND filters so the effect is hard to see, but I guess grads should look OK. And OVF should show the effect of both fine.
I use the built-in ND for good light portraits as I generally shoot wide open. Ive got the ND filter assigned to the fn button. Would love to see the use of the ND automated in future firmware upgrades.
What are Grads.?
With regards to the ND filter. Does anyone still have problems shooting wide open?
Had an evening at the beach the other night. It was after 5pm so not as bright as it could be (yet sunny) and I still couldn't shoot at F2 despite using the ND filter.
My shutter speed was still hitting 1/1000.
What was your ISO?
200 :|

Should add - you won't see the effects of filters in the OVF! I have used a Lee 2 stop hard ND grad and can just about make it out in the EVF - more by looking at the histogram and seeing the foreground brighten. Alternatively you can hold the shutter half way and apparently you can see the effect if you slide the filter up and down.
I got a Gordy strap from here: http://www.tripman.co.uk/ Hard to find on the website, but I think he has them in different colours (mine is black with the red band, looks very good)
Had a look but sadly seem to have only the one colour at the moment!
I'm after a wrist strap, what one is it, any ideas?

Very nice, did you have a technique?
chrism_scotland said:Well I got confirmation that my Gordy Strap has been shipped today, looking forward to getting it, just need to order a couple of spare batteries now and I'm all set!!
Can anyone reccommend a decent Circular Polariser? Had a look in Jacobs today and I'm sure I could get a better one than their own brand for £40
Also has anyone used a wrist strap like this: http://www.jacobsdigital.co.uk/p-43349-jacobs-digital-jacobs-leather-camera-grip-strap-slr.aspx
At all?
Can anyone suggest any options for a small & lightweight travel tripod for use with an x100? Something that could easily be chucked over the shoulder and forgotten about, and that does not cost the world since its only for occasional useHard to get an idea of how big/sturdy they all are from googling
I've been using a Gorillapod SLR with a Redsnapper mini-ball head although its not always ideal, my Redsnapper Tripod is too heavy to take all the time.
Was quite tempted by the Giottos Vitruvian I was looking at in Jacobs, carbon fibre but £300![]()
Hey Rob, if you don't want to spend a tonne of money, Hama traveller mini pro has served me well in the past with an SLR. Pretty sturdy, ~750g and comes with carry case. Wouldn't use it for bulb mode exposures though, a few minutes is fine.
I've seen plenty of Vitruvians literally fall to bits over the last couple of years, I would certainly not recommend them - save yourself some dollar!
For £12.99, bargain - one on its way![]()
