Fuji x100

Sorry in advance if this has already been asked.

The X100 has a 23mm fixed lens, this I understand, but using the wide angle lens converter, what focal length would this give me, in crop sensor format focal length?

Thanks, only answers I can find is giving the full frame equivilant focal length...
 
The WCL-X100 lends a magnification factor to the 23mm (35mm eq.) fixed lens of 0.8x, thereby providing an equivalent focal length of 28mm. This is certainly not as wide as the more common wide angle of 24mm, but does open up the available shooting field to some degree, and there are certainly times when the greater field of view is welcome.

Seems that fewer are coming on to the market. I’d expect to have to pay around £300 for a Silver one.
Recently acquired a beautiful Black LE from ffordes for £449. Complete and boxed.

quick Q:, what would you prefer for daily/street/travel photography ? Fuji x100f Vs x-t20 + fuji 23mm f/2

I asking because I am long time owner of x100f and honestly, this little camera is no longer inspiring for me ... I am considering to sell my x100f and buy x-t20 with 23mm f/2 glass which will basically give me very similar instrument .. I am asking because I don't have an experience with mirrorless cameras (I am DSLR shooter) and my x100F is my first and last mirrorless camera that I've ever had ...

My primary purpose why I bought x100f four years ago was a hope that I will take more photographs of my family and kids + I will have some small/compact camera for traveling and daily photography ..

why do I ask .. one of the considerations is that x100f's 23mm f/2 lenses are actually rather soft at f/2-2.8 at least .. They start to be constantly sharp at f/4+ .. I've heard somewhere that Fuji made it like that for purpose, that softer portraits look finer but it sounds a bit `meh' to me ... I wonder what the performance of fuji's xf 23mm f/2 primes is at f/2-2.8 compared to f/4+

If you want to use other lenses then go for the X-T20, but I personally would stick with the X100F, but if thats not doing for youb then a change is needed. I ran an X100F for a long time (and my wife had an X-T20+XF23mm F2), so I have experince of both.

The XF23mm F2 at F2 is sharper than the X100F but isn't as sharp as the old XF23mm F1.4 at F2

But if that sharpness is critical then I would consider an X100V which is sharper at F2 than all of the above!

There are two main problems that I have with x100f

* considerably small EVF .. I am big guy, 6'5 and 240 pounds ... I think that some rubber eyecup on x-t20 could greatly improve my experience
* better lens performance at f/2-2.8 - which you've said above is not that remarkable

what about the materials and body manufacture quality and robustness feel ? It also plays an important role for me ...

The EVF in the XT-20 is pretty tiny as well, to go bigger you really need to be looking at a single digit X-T camera (ie X-T2/3/4)

I think my X100F was better built than my X-T20, and the fact that our X-T20 is in the classifieds with a broken battery retainer probably says it all. The X-T3 I have feels like a tank compared with the X-T20

Perhaps a better starting point might be to ask what is your budget. Given that you can get quite reasonable money at the moment for an X100F, how much are you going to add to change (if any?)
 
My budget is relatively unlimited .. It's limited only by that I don't want to spend a too much on my secondary or tertiary camera ... I have D850/D7200 as my two main cameras for my primary hobby which is a landscape photography ... I wanted to have some stylish smaller cool camera for traveling and daily photography .. I am not decided completely to sell my x100f, if I will be able to buy another camera for reasonable price .. Ok, I am willing to spend something like max 1000 euros + eventually sell my x100f at the top of that ...

My primary requirements on x100f replacement is that

* it will be stylish and cool camera :D (I know, I know ... I am silly, right ?)
* it will be reasonably light and portable (x-t20 was chosen due to is very light and small and in same time it has very cool form)
* it will be motivating me to use it ... perhaps I should restart using my beloved Nikon fm2n ?

as I am thinking about that further it probably doesn't make a big sense to replace x100f with x-t20

For years I've shot Sony full frame.

A7, A7Riii, 35GM, 24GM, FE85, Tamron 70-180/2.8......... That's my main sunrise/sunset/night sky/etc kit - not all of the kit at once btw!

I bought an X100f for my small, light easy carry shooting. General days out, dog walks, beach days, car meets, street, etc

I either take it on it's own, or in a small messenger bag with my film camera. I've probably shot a greater number of images on the X100f than the Sony kit (excluding night sky timelapse)

I love the size, the ease of use, the less 'perfect' IQ, the OVF, the film style of shooting, etc etc

So as someone else who is big (6'4") and had an X100 (the original) until recently, I have a suggestion. I replaced it with a A7Cii plus the samyang 35/2.8 for carry around/every day use. Mostly motivating me was the much better AF, but there are many other benefits too. I shot the samyang back to back with the X100 on a walk together and the quality I was getting was the same or better IMO.

It's a bit of a bigger package, but not in a way that matters for me. It fits in all the same pockets of the same jackets etc for me. You may also have similar sized pockets :) I've a raincoat with large pockets that even takes it with an A-mount 50/1.4 and adapter on. Though that's more a comment on my raincoat's pockets than the camera!

Cost wise of course the Cii is over your budget, and the C whilst in budget (used, maybe) has a smaller VF.

But all that said, maybe worth a look depending what you're looking to get out of it? Family photos are certainly my most common subject with the camera, the AF seems magical compared to the X100 in terms of grabbing sharp images of my son whizzing about the place.

and x-t30 ??? if you go here and put into the compare mode x-t20 it says that x-t20 has a better build quality and better ergonomics and this is what matters to me the most .. this was originally a reason why I did aim at x-t20 ...

My point is that x-t<two numbers> are very light, lighter and more portable than x-t<one number> and also they are mid tier so quality should be OK (compared to x-t<three numbers>) .. I wanted to go with Fuji because the camera is really cool ... I've found my x100f to be super-cool but it has certain limitations which I've outlined above (two or three most important are small EVF, x-t20/30 can attach cool rubber eyecup, weird ergonomics - backbutton focus not possible, that camera is simply not build for backbutton focus and rather poor optical performance on f/2-2.8 - why would people buy `fast' lenses - because they want to obviously shoot on large apertures) .. Also ability to change lenses sounds to me as an advantage but I don't mention that, let's put it aside ..

If I look at current Fuji cameras lineup I believe that x-t<two letters> is exactly that line that will fit to my needs ...
 
The EVF on the the X100F and the X-T20 are both the same size with 0.62 magnification - yes you can attach an eyecup to the X-T20 but that won't change the size of the EVF

I found the X100F much easier to usee than the X-T20, and in terms of the body you will find that this is a very sideways move - I do understand the quest for sharper optics, but please don't expect the 23mm F2 lens to super sharp at F2, its not, but it is better than the X100F

I say again, if you like the X100F ergonomics, think its cool and want a sharper lens then IMO the X100V is the way to go, the lens on this was completely re-designed ind is sharp at F2. The X100V EVF is slightly higher magnification at 0.66 but is significantly higher resolution.

I'm probably biased but I really don't like the handling of the X-T20, whereas I really liked the the X100 series.

according to this they have very different parameters of viewfinder o.O .. but yes, after looking on photos, technically speaking, `the size of the hole' seems very similar

Right I can see where you are going here but the the OVF magnification on the X100F is 0.5 magnification, the EVF is 0.64 magnification

If you look at the actual Fuji datasheet infomation

X100F

I'm going to correct myself here as the EVF on the X-T20 is SMALLER than that on the X100F

0.39in x 0.62 v 0.48in x 0.64

compared with say an X-T3 which is 0.5in x 0.75 and an X100V which is 0.5in x 0.66
 
I still have my original Fujifilm Finepix X100 from 2011 I bought it new then. If you give it light say flash on a synced cord it's great

I agree it’s a fantastic camera (I still have mine), but it’s definitely soft at F2 (worse than X100F) and you have to send it a postcard to autofocus!!
 
almost a `life update' :D ... I am staying with my x100f ... I've been shooting entire weekend with it and my friend borrowed me brand new x-t50 for a day additionally which was awesome, but dealbreaker for me is that in reality I don't like EVF ... I needed slap to realize that ... I was shooting all the day today with my x100f with OVF and honestly I believe that 66% of shots that I do/did with x100f are with OVF .. I am just OVF kind of the guy .. looking through OVF gives me goosebumps, it excites me, it gives me vibes ... no matter which camera .. it is for me a pure essence of photography .. x-t50 was so cool, so good ... but it is missing that little something, that 5th element of the photography which is easy to forget that it exists .. I'm going to buy second d850 body instead :D (semi-joke .. it can happen, I am for sport looking almost daily on sites like ebay, mbp, etc for bargain DSLRs)

OVF is a big part of my love for the X100f :)

Sounds like a sensible outcome. If you want an X100F, but a bit sharper wide open, you need an X100V, as they updated the lens.
 
I picked up an x100vi this week as a daily walkabout instead of lumping around my massive wedding setup of R6mk2 and 28-70rf.

One question I have is, can you have two separate AF buttons? On my R6, I set up the back button focus for continuous face/eye tracking and the shutter button for single-point or continuous focus.

At the moment, I just programmed a function button to switch face tracking on and off.
