Bloke Down The Road Selling Company Diesel - What To Do?

would send a nice typed letter to his employer. a phone call wont work as no hard proof and could be ignored. be careful who you send it too as his boss could be in onit with him.

search the web and find out the address of HR dept. send the letter to them and sit back if nothing happens (or seems to) send another letter to the MD along with HR and one to the police.

Thanks guys,

He wouldnt know it was me, the call would go something like 'hello, is it policy
to pump out fuel & sell to a friend who has a boat? If the driver of ABC 123X
is doing nothing wrong, then please ignore this call.If he is doing wrong, then
im more than happy to provide photograpic proof for a small fee'

Also,

Do i.............

1. Let him see me take pictures & when he starts getting stressed, offer to
delete the pics for some folding matter or

2. The above & then recover the pics using recovery software & then phone
his boss?

Also, im not about road sweepers but i thought a commercial vehicle had to
be kept at the place registered for O licence requirments.

Maybe something to with being available for emergencies may have something
to do with it being taken home.

whilst i originally thought 'yeh make a polite call to his company about it' but then when i noticed that you keep mentioning MONEY, i sort of changed my mind on it, i personally wouldnt do it unless your doing it as a good deed not to make financial gain

I know you clearly don't like the man and there may be good reason for this but if you blackmail him, in my opinion you are as bad as he is.

If you are bothered by what he's doing then by all means tip off his employer anonymously. The onus is then on them to investigate and deal with it if necessary - gathering evidence in the form of photo's is not your job.

Does he actually realise that blackmail is a criminal offence, punishable by a custodial sentence no matter how small the figure is involved

just think he might have to move if he has no job.
so why not kill two birds with one stone as they say.

I would not bother my arse if if was not harming me, and if
I felt the need to report him it would not be anonymouse
I would have the balls to tel him to his face that I reported him.

Unless you are 6ft odd and muscles to match and pack a bit of clout in the area.

^^ This is you ?:)

Absolutely agree.

:D

So your current advice would be to ignore the gas smell and go out in a blaze of glory :thinking::cuckoo::lol:

No! ,the moral was ,if you bubble him ,the guy whom takes the reported larceny might just bubble you, so watch you're step.
My friend had a lot of hassle ,but knew she was in the right, still sucks that the gas man copped out and blamed her.

It will be illegal for him to store fuel, so that is naughty.
it is theft, so that is naughty.

If he was being careful doing it, then I would probably choose to ignore it, however if it is being done brazenly then he deserves everything he gets.

When I worked for a car hire company, I had someone use his child tax credit form for ID. He had entered a rdiculously low salary, but had told me he was in a full time job and did lots of overtime. A quick anonymous phone call made. Never knew what happened, but I was loathed if I was paying my tax to him when he didn't deserve it.

Be aware he will probably be fired though. But if you can;t do the time, don't do the crime, he made his bed etc.etc.

leave the camera and make the call, if he's nicking diesel they will find out and sort it out if not then it never happened and at worst you spread a rumour.

Absolutely disagree.

If nobody does anything he'll carry on unabated.

One day he'll feel so untouchable he'll burgle your house or steal something from you.

Would you then 'bother your arse?'

Stop the selfish w****r now.

Read my post again! If I felt the need to report him I would not make a secret out of it, I have the balls to to tell him so, this anonymouse crap just winds me up.

Why would you not feel the need to report him?
Becouse its none of my business and have better things to do with my time, if he is stealing as mutch as the OP rekons he will so be caught anyway, if I was to report every one who is breaking the law I would not have time for a life, never done 40 in a 30 zone? used a mobile when driving? plenty do.

souds to me he does not like the guy, what would he think if it was his best mate doing it?

With respect to the OP he does paint a pretty dire picture of the man/family and that might sway peoples recommendations so there is only one way to be sure; challenge the him. A simple 'hey mate, be careful cos there's a a bit of talk doing the rounds about you and your truck'. Get's the job done without any comeback. The risk of repercussions is not worth the risk to one's own well being. Easy for others to shout 'grass' but they haven't got to deal with it.

I find nothing in the OP to establish anything other than hearsay. Grass for doing what exactly?

OK so he phones HMRC and says I see this guy syphoning fuel regularly from his company truck and taking it away in barrels. I think he may be selling it.

HMRC investigate, the guy is either caught red handed or proved to be innocent, either way the right thing has been done.

A bloke down our road is not a nice chap.
His missus & himself swear at the kids & are generally just horrid.

I have noticed on a couple of occasions that he has been pumping fuel
out of his company road sweeper & putting it in barrels.

My neighbour advises that his friend has a yacht & he buys it.

The road sweeper shouldnt even be in the street im my opinion.
Its only a cul-de-sac & kids on bikes gamble with their lives every time
the drive it.

Im thinking of grabbing a few shots when he is next pumping fuel &
then giving his company a call.

What would you do?

Call the council and mention is anon. They dont need photos...only diesel expenses and mileage to match and compare.

Right thing? who for, you? you going to deal with the consequences if it all goes pear shaped. Right thing is to have a gentlemanly word with him if he's sure about his suspicions. It's easy to come the high & mighty behind the keyboard.

He is the sort of bloke that would tell me where to off.

This evening a saw a 2yr old walking up the middle of the street. He belongs to
a family that have recently moved in. I took the boy back to his mother.

The wife of the fuel thief was outside with a friend having a cuppa.
I said 'he is going to get himself killed'. She said 'well if thats what it takes
to get these mothers to learn then so be it'.

They care for no-one but themselves :shake:

And...............what about the bloke down the road selling diesel........have you decided on your course of action:shrug:

Were all waiting to hear:shrug:

I think im going to go for the anon call to the council to be honest.

I was talking to my neighbour who brought the subject up the day as she
had also seen him loading his car.She said that the bloke who owns the boat
sometimes collects in a Transit van if there is too much for his boot.

With such large quantities getting shifted, it wouldnt suprise me if other
drivers are in on it & the bloke down the road possibly collects/delivers
on their behalf aswell.

Does anyone in the street get on with this guy?

I honestly dont think so.

I used to get on with them but the mother accused a neighbours daughter
of calling her fat. The girl was 9yrs old at the time & the bloke barged his way through her front door ranting & raving. When the girls mother asked
what the problem was,the other woman started hurling abuse at the 9yr
old telling her that she every right to be fat as she had recovered from cancer
& was on medication preventing her losing any weight.

I had to remove the girl from the situation. Everyone else was just standing
open mouthed in disbelief. They couldnt believe a grown woman could talk
to a young girl in that matter.

I like many others pay full price for my fuel, why should someone else pay
for his trips to Disney Land?

The way I see it is he sounds like a total arse, but if you report him anonimously who in the street is going to take the flak for it?he is going to blame someone for it. If it was me I would just tell him do it elsware or he will be reported.

Just another quick point
Boats I assume run off red diesel as they are not road going vehicles
I don't know whether a "road sweeper" would be an exempt vehicle.

Red diesel is a fraction of the cost or "white" ( tax added)
If its an exempt vehicle then fair enough.

If he is running on "red" and should be running on "white"
there is another offence that HMC&E would be interested in

If the guy in the boat is buying white then he surely would be paying
more than if he bought "red"

Get yourself a diesel motor and buy a few litres from him:lol::lol::lol:

Not necessarily. There's no charge for a mate helping you out is there...he could be getting the white for less than he is getting the red !

why not have the balls to go to him face to face and tell him it's wrong and to stop, have some portion of back bone, the way you are thinking of going about this is as slimy as him doing it...... also think very careful about this ...you live in a cul de sac and thats where he does it,,,he's told there is photo evidence of him doing this outside his house, he then sees it and from where the pic is taken works out it's you, he then comes face to face to sort it out with you and you from the sound of it mess's your pants and wished you never done it and stop twitching the curtains...job done :bang:

When the fuel protests were on I remember reading about a taxi driver who decided to fill his garage up with diesel so he could keep working, he filled a wheelie bin full of diesel, problem was it melted the plastic bin and covered the street in diesel causing an evacuation.
I wouldn't be happy with large quantities of fuel being stored near my house in inappropriate containers

For me, it would depend on the who he's robbing from that would decide whether to dob him in or not. A big corporation? I'd help him fill his barrels and find him some more empty ones.

There's a guy who's a caretaker at a centre that my mother does some work at, who is currently claiming benefits and not declaring the work he's doing (I have this on very good authority), I'm just waiting to dob him in because the money he's making from benefits is coming out of your or my pocket. Those *******s I will happily grass up and I will sleep very well at night as a result.

Oh, ive got the balls to confront.

I just wouldnt want my kids to get involved because thats how low he
is. The big hard man when it comes to telling 6yr old girls to .... ...
(insert disgusting language).

They dont need to get involved at all hence the anon suggestion.
