Then you'll all start sending your negs to me for scanning and I won't have any free time....oh no we're not going down that road.:D

My computer is fairly desperate but is having counselling.:)

How can you get in trouble for buying a 5 foot 75kg scanner that needs a desperate computer to run it?

Huh! Why is it so heavy does it have a 3HP single phase electric motor doing the scanning.

Selfish, selfish, selfish!

The steel frame and thick acrylic scan bed certainly aren't light! Nor are the power transformers and the motor drive gearings...

just ordered a changing tent for £35 from calumet :)
5% topcashback too, and free postage over 50quid, so got some tape, and 400 iso illford :)

Really wish I was in range of the first one! The second one might be kosher, but iI wondered if it might be one of the "come on" gumtree scams... Mind you, miss-spelling Mamiya might have reduced the offers, so good spot there.

ETA: hadn't seen all the pics, looks like the real thing. Great if you're in range... @raathistle nearby?

If only Chris, £500 is a steal for that if it's genuine. Not sure I need a third mamiya rangefinder though really

I'd ask the film seller about adding postage. Can't hurt to ask.

The Mamiya does look as genuine as any remote online sale but obviously if I was in a position to buy I'd want to do some more research and get some more pictures/history first.

I'd think like everything on Gumtree, you MUST buy at a face to face sale. Sending either money or goods off is a recipe for disaster. I'd very much like a M7 for £500, but I'd not like to spend £500 and get nothing!

Fully agree Chris. Like other free ads sales, there's little to no support if a sale goes wrong although I have reported a couple of no-show items to Gumtree and they've raised cases and chased the seller on my behalf. However, they don't hold your money like Paypal/Ebay so all cash transations are your own responsibility.

Saying that I've had some good buys from Gumtree as well, including my Mamiya M645J, Polaroid 110A and a Jupiter-9 85/2 lens I received last week. You just need to keep common sense about you and ask a lot of questions.

If you paid by paypal you'd get the same buyer protection as you would from ebay or even from here. But as a seller I'd be very weary taking a paypal payment for a gumtree transaction. I guess if you post it special delivery it would be no different to ebay but it feels wrong.

I bought my last motorbike from an ad on Gumtree, sent the money by bank transfer ahead of collecting it at the weekend but only because it was in Aberdeen, the price was too good to be true and the key thing was that I was able to get a friend to check it out in person. The guy really was about to move abroad and needed a quick sale; didn't stop me being paranoid all week though :)

for paypal protection the item needs to be posted, and not face to face

Just a quick heads up, Maco seem to have dropped their minimum order though their postage is still a little heavy. Also a €10 voucher when you sign up to their mailing list.

Blimey, that is a bargain.

Well cars you can check if stolen or on HP.........but a camera is more difficult unless you take the serial number on a visit and check with the police if it's on their stolen list.
Which reminds me of my Gumtree buy when I bought a boxed V750 with accesories (all as new) for £90 it was in a dodgy area in London and the guy had a E. European accent, well the box was delivered to him (on the label) but with a suspicious mind still think to myself "why so cheap, what's the catch".

When I use colour, it's the film I use, but only in 120. I'd characterise it as contrasty with vivid greens - rather like Velvia slide film, taking account of the difference between negative and slide. BUT - that might just be a result of the conditions in which I use colour and the way I scan it (I've only made colour prints from slides via Cibachrome).

Thanks Stephen, that's good to know. I might give some a go, it's a good price.

That's a good spot Andy, even cheaper than Bristol Cameras. Has anybody actually used it? Is it good for landscapes or portraits or both or neither?

I've never used it in large format, but I use Fuji 160NS in 120 format for most of my travel, landscape, and long exposure photographs; it has a nice colour palette and great reciprocity characteristics. The highlights can go a bit pink, however, if you grossly overexpose.

I bought some 160 NS in 5x4 back in February or so when an ebay seller had it listed wrong at a ridiculous price, and a few people on here all bought boxes. I haven't used a great deal of it but here's a couple photos if it helps

Edit to add that these were all home developed in a Tetenal C-41 kit and home scanned, so if there are "off" colours then it's totally my fault!
