I suspect that there is no connection between "Bronica" and "Zenza Bronica".
That word presented in that font with the star in the "O" is a carbon copy of the branding on the S2/a and EC, its not there on the later SQ and etr, but its a total rip off of the earlier models if Bronica didn't give them permission, I mean like you I doubt Bronica actually made them but they must have bought the licence to use that branding or something, I would have thought.

I'm almost positive that it's the same company. As they were trying to break into the camera industry, Bronica made a number of different products, to my knowledge.

According to this page, Bronica started by manufacturing lighters, cigarette cases and compacts in order to improve their metalworking skills before making their first cameras so it's not inconceivable that they continued producing accessories such as the candles - candlelight without the mess of wax would have been one of those home improvement things popular in the 1960s and 70s.

Well I wasn't buying it but it seems more and more likely that they are just a decorative replacement for an ordinary candle and not at all related to anything photographic.

ah well, ya live an learn...

Well, my order from Rocky arrived and ... snip ... once bitten and so on.

I'll drop Rocky a line to find out what's what. Glad I paid through PayPal, the claiming process should be fairly straightforward.

Well, after giving Rocky a week to get back to my emails, I raised a dispute this morning asking for a part-refund. An hour later, the refund is in my PayPal account and I have received a snotty email from Keith Rock threatening to ban me from his site if I raise disputes without contacting him first in future.

In short, Rocky cameras fully deserve their reputation and if you do buy something from them, make sure you pay using a means that's simple to issue claims through as he's unlikely to reply otherwise.

Stroppy git, aint he?

I think its fair to say Rocky deservers his reputation :-)

I'm kicking myself now, saw a Canon F1 with 55mm 1.2 for £60 this morning. The seller wasn't willing to post but while I was thinking about asking someone on here to collect and post it on it sold. :0(

yeah, gotta buy 10 really @ £3.30 a roll

5 is £4 a roll and getting not worth the effort

where the hell is firstcall anyway.......

  • Collection from our Taunton warehouse

Wow, great deal there. It's a shame their basic shipping is so expensive or I'd be buying some right now.

Anybody fancy a bulk buy?

I looked at the firstcall offer on XP2 but ended up going to 7dayshop and getting some Tri-X, Portra, and Ektar - total 25 rolls at an average of £4.15 per roll including delivery. Not bad when you consider that Gumtree seller wants £4 a roll for Portra that may not be in a foil wrapper.

(I like XP2 but it's not my favourite any more and I am really trying to standardise on TMax 100, Tri-X, Portra 400, and Ektar.)

I like XP2, but I prefer colour photographs, so I really don't need to buy any more B&W film. I also really prefer 400CN to XP2, if I'm choosing between C41 B&W films.

That said, it is a good price...

It was more to stop me buying it :0) I got in touch with the seller in the end to see if they'd split out one body/lens but it had already been sold and picked up unsurprisingly!

flippineck Steve......they're half frame..........HALF FRAME

lovely to look at but.......

.....HALF FRAME !........

:)

Lol, I kind of wanted the lenses to shoot on my......digital kit  although yes, they are nice to look at too :)

They are absolutely gorgeous, its a tragedy

S'like fitting a GT40 with a 2 cylinder diesel

:)

Funny thing is, despite all the bad experiences of others, and one or two myself, I can never get out of my head the pristine black Nikon FE I bought off him a few years ago which was arguably UNDER-described. Maybe it was a mistake by him, but it was an absolute steal. I dare say he made up for it with me elsewhere though. :$

They had a 12 pack of £2 a roll fp4 too but.......

.......I bort dat....lol

:D

I need some 400 35mm colour, I hadn't realised how little choice there is, and how flippin dear 35mm is.

there's fuji 400h and portra 400........that's it !
