    MPB - delays?

My package arrived with MPB on the 24th of April, like others got my warning about unexpected higher volumes on the 1st, and this evening got my confirmation requesting banking details.

    Help! Market Place

Funny enough I was just thinking the same. I bounce in and out of photography though my reason for being quiet on here for a fair while is I was buying too much from the market place and so trying to avoid it  so think I will stay as the occasional lurker for now - safer on the wallet...

Nikon 135mm f2 DC......anyone got it..... like it??

After I made my post I found that Wex had a brand new one in (over £1k) - MPS have not had them in when I've looked (during their sales). Think I'm going shopping now - sheers for that :) _ crap site for searching - looking at Nikon fit lenses, shows none. Doing a search gives 3 options for...

Nikon 135mm f2 DC......anyone got it..... like it??

Related question to this. Been watching out for a good deal on eBay for one of these as my local camera shop has not seen one for years and they seem to be hens teeth as the usual suspects. I've seen the prices rise from ~£550 a year or so ago (regretting not getting one then) to around £750+...

Super wide zooms for full frame?

I'm also looking at the moment and the Tamron is like hens teeth at the moment. I'm presently bouncing between the old Nikon 17-35 f2.8, which still goes for silly money for decent examples, and the Sigma 12-24 f4-5.6.

Brandy and Port recommendations needed please

I'm shuddering at some of the names mentioned here :suspect: For port, alas I can't comment on the cheaper stuff. Who ever mentioned vintage (or a single di quinta) is sending you in the wrong financial direction though Tescos Finest is only around £15 a bottle and quite decent. Vintage...

    Recorded delivery, the myth.

It doesn't guaranty delivery, nor does it fully cover loss, you only receive back the value of they item, nothing for the postage you've paid .. Also you have to wait some thing like 15 or 30 days before you can make a claim. The item I lost through recorded delivery apparently never even made...

What was your First ever camera?

First camera was a Kodak 110 Instamatic when I was about 6. My first decent camera was a Voightlander Vito B I swiped from my old man - he'd bought it second had from a press photographer back in the 1950s. I still have it, loaded a film in it for the first time in ~20 years recently, and...

Buffalo Linkstation Live - Any thoughts/other recommendations?

I almost picked one of these up from ibood when they had it in as the daily special, but then I read a rather large number of poor reviews over it. Does your drive have to be network connected as you will be paying a £60+ premium for this.

    wide angle zoom for D300

I leave my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 on my D300 most of the time, only really replacing it at present with my Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro. It's a sweet little lens.

Starting to get really nervous about uni :(

Have a blast and don't worry. :D If you can't cook hit a second hand book shop and look for the Good Housekeeping My First Cookbook and Second Cookbook. Both very basic and dated, but also very good. If you're in non-catered halls it worth cooking from basics rather than buying in tinned...

Back Up Issues, trashed drive and Questions

See if you can borrow an external DVD reader from some one. I was copying backups from DVD on to my new NAS when I started getting errors on some of them. I too thought they were toast but tried my other drive (my PC has a DVD-ROM and a DVD/CD-RW) and found they worked fine.

    Camerabox

I bought from them about 6 months ago and back then they were very good, some people here had problems about a month ago, including an item being a grey. I'm hoping it was a blip on their part and they're imporved again.

Anyone else getting fed up with Royal Mail stikes?

Personally I have no time for them. I've not seen a decent reason behind a mail strike in a long time (if you think I'm being hard on those striking to stop the RM re-organise themselves to save the company, then how about the strike to prevent the police investigating mail credit card fraud)...

    Which NAS? External drive stopped

A: Having had a browse around, it looks like the answer is no. If you have a drive failure it has to go back to Buffalo under support. Basically if you want to swap drives it looks like you'll need to go for a separate enclosure and disks. My solution a QNAP TS-219P might be way above your...
