Phoned the vet yesterday as one of our cat's teeth was looking a bit ropey, despite our best efforts to keep them in good condition.
Anyway, phone conversation goes like this yesterday.................
me..... "our cat needs a dental",
vet..... "ok bring her in tomorrow and we'll take a look",
me..... "but I'm certain she needs a dental, can I just book her in please?",
vet..... "we'll need to see her first",
me... "ah right ok then",
vet.... "see at you 2-30 (no punn intended, I'm sure....tooth hurty), tomorrow afternoon",
So off to the vet my daughter and I go, it's just around the corner and we were able to walk,
today's conversation, in as many words,
vet...."how can we help?",
me.... "I spoke to you yesterday, my cat needs a dental",
vet.... "ok, let's have a look",
Vet proceeds to look at the molar I had pointed out,
vet..."yes, she needs a dental",
me..... "ok, I knew that",
vet,.... "shall I book her in?",
me..... "yes please, as soon as possible",
vet..... "ok, 10th March, 9-30am",
me.... "right oh, that'll do fine",
vet.... "ok, see you then, confirm with reception on the way out",
me.... "thank you".
I got to reception, she confirmed the time/date and then asked me for £36 for today's consultation.
I'm like, "eh?. I told you she needed a dental yesterday",
receptionist.... "yeah, the £36 is for today's consulation",
me....
It's not the expense, the cat needs care and she will get it but I could've saved them the trouble yesterday and myself £36.
The dental will be in the region of £140, which is fair enough, I'd expected that.
It's not like our vet either, we've used them for years, they are brilliant but I do feel a little aggrieved today when I told them yesterday exactly what was needed.
£36 to open a cat's mouth and confirm what I'd already told them. I'm in the wrong job.
