WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Had two new radiators fitted last week
Plumbers never did collect the old radiators they promised they would
Will end up taking them to the tip I think

If you live on a road rather than a close, try putting unwanted items with a scrap value outside the house near the pavement. I did this several times at my previous place and it was surprising how often a Transit van/flat bed would turn up and quickly load them and drive away.

I was about to say the same, any "scrap" I leave out, just slightly away from the rubbish on bin day, and it's 100% gone by morning.
I suspect that either a bin man has a side line, or he gives a mate the heads up.

Any scrap we have just message the local scrap guy and he picks it up in a day or 2, beats taking something like a washing machine to the recycle centre

Maybe its an old git thing, :D But I always say thank you, loudly, if I do something, like hold a door open, for either sex,
and they just barge though.

When I was working the northern part of London W1, between Oxford Street and Marylebone Road was part of my working area. Not long before I retired I was coming out of John Lewis on to Oxford Street as a rather well dressed youngish lady was approaching the door. I stepped back and held the door open for her and she said in a genuine manner "Thank you" and then added "Do you think you could teach the men of my age to do that?'

Thanks everyone, it turns out a friend wants them for a fire pit so all sorted

Hearing the locals moan they can't walk their dogs on a field because the farmer has ploughed it... There was never any right of way, dog waste bags left everywhere and he's going to grow crop.. where do people think food comes from  :(

PS, nothing against dogs or owners, just selfish people :)

I usually say "don't mention it".

I'm not sure about other parts of the country, but we've got loads of those run free fields around us, it's only something like £6 for half an hour and you get the whole secured field to yourself and can bring anyone you like. Great for dogs like Beagles. It's a good use and a little earner for fields that may otherwise be lying doing nothing.

Dropping off early and waking up with a crick in my neck.

Slipped on a bare tree root at the river today, hurt my foot, pulled something I think. Not broken but flippin sore.
I did something similar along the river bank but it was a stone I slid on.
Turned out to be a chipped bone in my ankle.
9 years on and it still hurts and itches in the winter months.

Not annoyed as such but, being accused of adding blur to my images :( (not on here, that'll teach me for straying outside TP  :$)

EDIT - they were refering to altering the OoF areas

I add blur to too many of my images these days - can't hand hold as slow as I used to be able to!

Tripod ;) :exit:

I've edited my post as it was the OoF areas mentioned :)

Just a no show from a workman yesterday. Not even a phone call to say he's not coming.

It's annoying as I had to get up very early to make sure my mam is up and dressed and fed and watered and settled and then 9am came and went as did 10 and 11 and then I accepted he was a no show. So I got up early and my mam had all the hassle for nothing.

I haven't called him but he'll get my very best base Anglo Saxon if he comes to the door again and if he comes and if he has a phone in his hand I might just take it off him and insert it somewhere in his person.

The BBC management! I have removed my BBC apps from my phone and refuse to listen to any more "speculation" billed as news, or propaganda. If the news is that important, somebody will tell me about it. That way I don't get angry as much!

I know how you feel and not that I want to defend the Beeb too much, or at all, as I think they're just typical of much of the main stream media as just about all of them seem to have stopped the investigative journalism and holding people to account and have arguably become purveyors of a point of view and agenda they want you to subscribe too. Something that does annoy me is that there are some big stories which none of the main broadcasters will touch with a barge pole. Recent and indeed todays events in Holland for eg., not a word on the news or if there is it's buried somewhere.

As if to prove your point, what's happened in Holland?

Lots of demonstrations over farmers being forced out of business in pursuit of net zero and / or a super city. Believe what you will. There have been demonstrations all over Europe and the wider world along similar lines in recent times and UK media seem to have almost completely ignored them. In fact maybe completely ignored them.

Well found. I've never seen mention on the main page or on TV but of course I could have missed it. I'd have thought demonstrations on this scale, and those in other places, would have made the news on TV and been quite prominent.

Decades ago I was in Holland when there was a large demonstration about housing which did indeed make the news in the UK, it was one of the main stories in fact and possibly the main one.

If BBC News annoys you try Microsoft News. You may see an interesting headline which eventually confesses to be fiction but by that time they will have displayed dozens of adverts.

WAMT? Well, earlier this week actually. Morons in vehicles. My wife & I drove 125 miles from home to family in Kent on Wednesday, snow all the way there in the morning, and idiots who have no idea that Daytime Running Lights (DRL's) are only on the front (and they are basically side lights) or worse, the total stupid ****ers who didn't have any lights on at all!!

Whatever happened to "See & be seen"??

I had to sew a button on this morning. After trying a few times to thread the needle I realised the end of the thread was a bit frayed. To get a cleaner end to the thread I got some scissors and cut about 10cm off the thread.

Picked the needle up again and after a few attempts I was pleased I'd managed to thread the needle only to find out the thread I'd put through the eye of the needle was the 10cm I'd cut off!

Sorry for the laughing like but I did!!!

No problem. After I awarded myself 'Numpty of the Day', I laughed too, as did Mrs Tringa when I told her.

Clicked on dilbert.com and no strip. Looks like it's going behind a paywall...

How can I now emulate Wally?

It was actually last week. My driving license expired last October so I'd applied for a renewal. The DVLA wrote to my consultant in November, but he didn't respond until January after phoning me as he was concerned about the weakness in my legs. I reminded him (not for the first time) that i use hand controls and he duly sent the form off to the DVLA.

Fast forward to last week and I picked up an envelope from the door mat from the DVLA. 'Finally,' says I, 'my driving license!'. Nope, it's a letter stating that I have Clinical Apparent Visual Inattention, my application has been refused! A truly WTF moment as I've never heard of it, let alone been tested or diagnosed.

A week later, I finally get a response from the senior secretary to say that the consultant ticked the box by mistake!

FFS!

I'm glad it worked out in the end, even if it did take several months !

I've actually changed consultants now, moving from Stoke Mandeville to Luton & Dunstable. it isn't the the first time he's produced a FFS from me!

Indeed. Thinking of writing to the BMA to get his license to practice revoked!

Glad you're sorted now, Marc. Have you now got your license back or have you had to reapply?

Picked up the syphon, removed the old one, the new one won't fit the box, the old syphon was repairable with a new polythene flap valve (made one myself!), new cartridge arrived and it worked straight away - result! Feel free to transfer this to what cheered me up today!
