Trying to watch Look North to get footage of anywhere East of the BBC's precious Leeds is painful, there's often really good stories set down here in Sheffield and we get about 2 minutes of footage if we're lucky.
I don't know what it's like nowadays as I don't watch much TV, but BBC South East? studios were at Southampton or Portsmouth and it was exactly the same. I gave up on it and switched to ITV which, although the studio was in Reading gave lots of coverage to the surrounding area. Their presenters were much better as well.
I spent my whole school life trying to figure what maths was all about. One month doing building maths on an HNC building course and it all made sense because I could apply it to "real" situations. I passed Building mathematics with distinction in both my exams. Graphs can be handy to get a visualization of a load of statistics (as demonstrated by the government re Covid) but they can also be "manipulated" by unscrupulous folks to suit their own agenda!!!! Algebra is about replacing numbers with letters and vice versa which is a real pain in the rear if you are dyslexic (like someone in my family!). Often used to find the unknown (not a lot of people know that - as Michael Caine was reputed to have said but probably didn't!).

I remember a few years ago we were on Holiday in deepest, darkest South Wales, and managed to get Look Leeds on a BBC Channel.

I leave roof repairs to the professionals ..... My 9 year old granddaughter has banned me from climbing over stiles after I tripped & fell over one in the Lakes last summer. I ended up rolling halfway down a hill.... I suffered a few bruises & scrapes. To avoid upsetting her I had to mask my discomfort & suffer in silence for the rest of our walk.
I used to deliver prescriptions to the elderly and immobile and arrived at a house one day, with a 90 year old up the ladder and her 86 year old sister holding it...... cleaning the gutters!
Last year my neighbour locked himself out of his house and came round to borrow the keys he leaves with me. Unfortunatately that was no good as he’d bolted the front door to stop it rattling in the wind (!). So he borrowed my extending ladder (good, light weight) as there was an upstairs window open. He proposed doing it alone but I insisted on being there ready to phone ambulance when he fell. My landline is included in the broadband too. I have had Virginmedia fibre before but currently it would be more expensive and last time I looked not having their landline wasn’t any cheaper.
I always leave roof repairs to the professionals we have a really good and relievable local company 3 generations and it's normally the Grandfather (early 80's now) how turns up to do the small jobs like loose or missing slates, ridges or flashings. It amazed me 10+ year's ago when he was around 70ish, frightens the life out of me now but never seems to bother him and they do a good job and not expensive so no thought of trying to get anyone else.

Because I wear a hearing aid, which doesn't like wetness in general, I only have to sweat a bit and the damn thing packs up.
Sorry to hear that! I wear hearing aids and have never had them pack up in the rain and they are not specially waterproof
. I do wear a hat though and have other waterproof clothing with hoods.
