WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Why stick with them if she hasn't even had one lesson? She would be far better off with a local person who is also more likely to be more experienced too.

This is exactly what I said but... people can be stubborn. Actually the reason might be simply that BSM were recommended by a friend so Mrs WW may be embarrassed to tell the friend if she switches. Anyway, I recommended binning them but she doesn't want to. Cancelling with one days notice and offering 8th Nov. seems very poor service to me. How long is she going to take to pass her test if that level of service continues?

If you use Facebook you could post your wife's experience on BSM's Facebook page. I don't know if it will make any difference but I think they will not want adverse publicity made public. Cancellation is annoying but it can happen. However, it has happened for a reason and it is only good manners and service to customers to explain the reason.

I’ve had that in past, reckon it’s after the dentist poking around
........................ and then, a huge filling fell out uf the tooth next door but one to the removed one! Luckily, the dentist got me in quickly and replaced it. What a pain! Literally! Now on max paracetomol.

I read a report some time back and it was scathing of dentists and the damage that they (allegedly do.) Make of this what you will or google your way to govt reports... Gist of the report was that going to the dentist and having them poke around with metal instruments every 6 months damages your teeth and the "cleaning" they do is a waste of time. The report said there's no need to go to the dentist more than every seven years! (as long as you look after your teeth and don't have any breakages/emergencies.) Also statistically women have more dental problems than men because they go to the dentist more.

I'm certain my dentist caused gum damage and sensitivity and it's taken years to recover and I seem to have much less trouble since I stopped going.

WAMT.. coming home to find a crack and 2 broken blocks in the party wall in the loft, after the builders nextdoor decided their steel 'will fit' while doing a loft conversion

Hmmmmm!

I surmise the builders are insured to cover such damage.

But frankly if they had a cavalier attitude about the work such that they caused the damage, in your shoes I would not let them make good the repair!

A quick question? Is the party wall a single skin or double i.e. cavity wall like? If single the damage would next door too......so just how have covered it up there?

If double skin IMO that steel and it's preparatory work was too big & sloppy!

I hope you can resolve it AOK.

PS on a side though related note. Years ago my neighbour had some kitchen work done. They popped round to ask if I had noticed anything on the party wall in my lounge.

First they invited me in to their house to look at it with them. The brickwork on their side was damaged and shining a torch in the hole I could see my wall, close though it was, appeared unaffected! In my house I looked and tapped but thankfully nothing obvious. They were nice neighbours, hopefully yours are too :)

Hi, I hope they are

The work started Monday, lets hope the next 6 weeks goes better

It's a cavity wall, house was built 1995.

I think someone got a bit carried away getting it in, builder is doing a visit next week, I'll speak to them then.

We're friendly with the neighbours known each other 10+ yrs.

Fingers crossed it's just a 'patch up' not full repair

Thank you

i had a new C drive installed today and the shop have formatted my other drive, 2 TB worth so lost all my photos, videos and music i had on my computer...annoying but you know there are worse things that can happen,

Don't use that drive for anything before you try recovery software on it!!!!

WAMT? Coming back from Cyprus to 13C and p***ing down ... in shorts and sandals obviously!
What is the saying "no such thing as bad weather, only poor choice of clothing...." just saying ;) :exit:

Coming through the clouds from a clear blue sky to turbulence and pouring rain at Manchester brings it all hope as does the knowledge that I've got a three hour train journey to come.

Sorry to laugh, Heather but what were you expecting in good old Blighty? :P

Being of Celtic extraction, I'm susceptible to sunburn so shorts and sandals are off the clothes list for me (except on beach days where an all over coat of sunscreen is applied as well as me staying under either water or umbrellas!) and a fleece is handy for the extra pockets when travelling.

WAMT?

Went to the car to go shopping, and the battery was a dead as a dodo.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, its been a bit sluggish starting the last couple of days.
It took green flag 2 hours to get here ( it was sat on my drive and thankfully I was in no rush.) and he started it in 30 seconds.

Battery test, epic fail :( With winter just around the corner I thought it prudent to replace it.

I don't have a radio code, so at least he kept his booster pack on the battery leads while he fitted a new one, Justin Case
But that is 100 quid I'd rather not have spent today :(

You should get one of these things... Just in case you need it...

I have something similar, not that one but something like it and it's started my MX5 a few times.

I've been thinking about it TBH.
But from the battery read out I'd be flogging a dead horse.

If the car is sit idle for a while, you'd be better off getting a maintance trickle charger to plug in if you have a drive. But, as you've a new battery, you should be good for a while.

That's my thoughts too now TBH.
Yes, I have a drive, and yes, I only (normally) do short journeys.

EV!!! :P

As above, it's started my MX5 a few times when there's been no sign of life. They're possibly worth keeping in the boot. I also carry both electric and manual tyre inflators.

As above I looked at the possibilities and went for the one that suited me.
I carry a tyre inflator too, I bought for my other car, but rare these days this one has a skinny spare.

I deleted Google Chrome from my desktop as it seems to be a lot slower and has lots of hangups. I reinstalled Firefox (my previous browser) and realised that I had "lost" my favourites. I assumed that I was now free of Google Chrome but Firefox then asked if I wanted to import my bookmarks................................ from Google Chrome! I thought that I would say Yes and see what would happen. Hey presto, my bookmarks all appeared. Google Chrome is still lurking! :(

Bookmarks for many(all?) browsers is a separate file that (perhaps) is left behind of the initiating browser is uninstalled. Therefore the new browser will 'know' what to look for to read and add them in.

Had a day out with some friends yesterday, great fun
One of them is Gluten intolerant, so we went in search of somewhere for lunch
Finding some where for her to eat was a difficult, all the cafes/restaurants seem to cater for vegan but not gluten free.
She doesn't like a fuss and gets embarressed, but as friends we wanted her to join us and be able to get some decent food
We did eventually find one, a lovely Italian pace.
It really annoyed me, Vegan is a choice, Gluten intolerant is a medical condition.
I have noticed that more shops these day seem to stock loads of Vegan stuff and less Gluten free which also seems to be more expensive

WAMT was how difficult it was to cancel a C19 jab. Having booked one at the local mass vax centre, I ended up being given one alongside my flu jab, leaving the other appointment redundant. Rather than being a simple no-show, I wanted to cancel so got almost all the way through the online process before hitting a brick wall. A call to 119 got cut off just before the process was finished. Managed eventually but had to dig deep to do it!

On the plus side, the jabs this morning were the best I've ever had!

My jab yesterday was painless. Unfortunately, my upper arm went almost dead after a few hours and I went to bed early, not waking until 9.30 this morning! The arm is now free and apart from a fuzzy head, I seem to be OK. Now quadruple jabbed and have had no Covid - success!

Did you sign a party wall agreement?

We watch that but looking at what some of them produce it's hard to believe that these are the best woodworkers in the country. There are probably better ones on every street in the land. I personally don't think they should be allowed power tools but I suppose this is necessary due to time constraints.

We like the pottery throwdown better.

It could happen but I have no doubt that everything is very carefully set up. Nobody wants footage of blood spurting from severed limbs...

...unless, of course, they're making a snuff movie! :naughty:

I've witnessed a woodturning chisel being ripped out of somebody's hand and being launched through the air, before embedding itself in a noticeboard! All because the guard wasn't adjusted properly and the user was holding the chisel in the wrong way! Thankfully, nobody got between the chisel and the final resting place! The user couldn't speak for about two minutes. It could have been his final resting place!

Not officially, but is all good, they are sorting it out :)

Might be worth getting for future though in case you sell and buyers are wary.

If you're agreeing to the work it's free, there's just a letter to print off and sign on the govt website

Cheers, I'll have another chat with them (y)
