The TP Weight Loss thread 2008

I'm a week into my Weight Watchers programme, and so far, so good. I'm not starving myself, I'm eating more than I normally would  and all the foods I like too..mmm (well, except cakes!)

Start weight: 10st 11.5 lb
Weight today: 10st 8.5lb

That was the easy bit - now all the fluid has gone, I've gotta knuckle down and get some fat shifted.

I'm currently doing a couple of hours a week on exercise bikes at the gym, so I know about the boring side of indoor riding :D

Indoor training is no substitute for getting out in the mud, but at the moment, it's got to do :(

81.1 KG tonight too, so a little bit of a loss this week :)

Morning all:wave:

Good to see everyone still going about it!

I got down to 90.x kg and now really need to work to get down to 85-ish, well between 80 and 85 would be ideal for me at 6'2"

Keep going all:thumbs:

Not been on for a few days and missed this thread, here goes:

start date 2nd Jan - 14st 6lb
target - 12st 7lb

1st weigh in 8th Jan - 13st 13 3/8lb (thats the fluids taken care of !)

next weigh in 15th Jan

I am using the eat less calories than you burn plan !

I am allowed 2200 calories a day in order to loose 2lb a week but I have been averaging 1200 per day instead. Although the first week was a big loss that often happens followed by a second week bounce back with very little loss then into a more even loss (or so I am told).

I keep dreaming about chocolate brownies !!!!

I have started a collection of low calorie recipes if anyone wants it let me know - Recipe gives a break down of calories and weights for each item then calories for each portion at the end.

Well, 1st weigh in time.

Start Weight : 23st 1lb (146.8KG)
Current Weight : 23st 1lb (146.5kg)

Current Weight Loss : 00st 0.6lb (300g)
Time Taken : 7 days

I've lost half a pound in a week - which I'm happy with at the moment. We were out for tea three times this week (planned before we decided to concentrate on weight loss) and my body will be in a bit of a confused state with the extra exercise. As long as I stayed the same or lost a little this week I was happy.

I'm expecting a bigger loss next week though.

Sue tells me I've got to shift my weigh in morning to sunday so I'm synched with her so might do that, makes more sense I guess because I'm not rushing around on a Friday morning before I go to work.

I might update the thread Sunday morning :p

Well done everyone, lets keep it up !

I've managed to get through a week without chocolates / sweets / cakes / crisps etc. and to be honest it was quite easy and i've not really missed them. We've also tried to cut down the portion size of the meals we both have.

Next thing is to start exercising again !

Start Weight : 14st 10lb
Current Weight : 14st 9lb

Current Weight Loss : 00st 1lb

Start Weight : 20st 7lb
Current Weight : 20st 4lb

Current Weight Loss : 00st 03lb
Time Taken : 11 days

A little update.
With my manflu, I haven't had time, inclination, or energy to go to the gym at all, so this is purely from my eating.
I've cut out chocolate (Except for a sneaky creme egg last friday night). I very rarely drink anyway, so can't cut that out.
I wont buy butter any more (Didnt really anyway, but its a no no now), and sweet puddings, etc are out. So are multipacks of crisps when we go shopping.

The thinking is, if I can resist for an hour when Im out, thats all I need to do. No willpower needed when at home, because if it's not there, I can't eat it!

I did treat myself to a Chicken Tikka masala and a Chicken balti for my birthday on sunday, and as feelgood food, I ate meatballs and chips last week (Ikea meatballs!), but they were a treat.

Started spreading only a very small amount of vitalite on bread/toast etc, and snacking on fruit and salad stuff...which is helping :)

I'm having a bad bad bad day - I am sitting in the office and its 3 of my teams birthday over the weekend so there are cakes, chocs, snacks everywhere I look.

I'm being good so far... but not sure how long I cant hold off for..:suspect: :bang:

Go on Deb, you can avoid temptation! maybe see if u can put them in another room or somewhere u cant see it all?!

Yay! well done! i know how hard it is, i had to forcibly walk past the cake aisle in the supermarket today :S but it was ok! i didnt buy anything bad :)

Guys and girls - by now I am sure most of you know that I am involved in GNLD (a form of network marketing, yes) and while I do not have any desire to spam up this thread I am in posession of information that can change all of your lives for the better.

Let me just say that losing weight and maintaining it is no quick fix. It has to become a lifestyle and this can have so many other positive side effects.

If anybody would like to have more info for free - please PM me:thumbs:

Is it too late to join in? I've been planning on starting for about a week but keep losing my willpower.
DEFINATELY no photos, but I think if I post my weight up here that could be a way of shaming me into action.
In the hope that you'll all let me jump on the bandwagon even though you've been going for a while.....
Start weight 9st 9lb
current weight 9st 9lb
Lost 0
Target weight 8st 7lb

I know 9st 9 don't sound much, but I'm only 5ft and last easter I weight 8st 7 and I liked it. over a stone is a lot when you're short!

Glad you managed to resist - I know how difficult it is. Almost every time I'm on the labour ward, there seems to be huge boxes of Thorntons (my favourites) or tins of chocolates and biscuits. It kills me, but if I give in and have one, I'll want more.

Melanie, the more the merrier!!

matt - is your blog public access??

Well this is my first (late, should have been wednesday) update. First week has gone pretty well, have been out on 3x40 minute power walks so far. Feeling much better for that, have actually surprised myself to be honest. Been drinking plenty of water and being very careful to follow my weight watchers diet and not go over my daily allowance of points.

Start Weight : 19st 2lbs
Current Weight : 18st 11lbs

Current Weight Loss : 5 lbs
Time Taken : 11 days
Target weight 14st

First week went quite well, just need to keep up the same wate loss for a few weeks yet to make some good inroads into my target.

Also well done to everyone posting in this thread, i think its great that we are here encouraging each other and you guys are having a positive effect on me :)

matt - is your blog public access??

It is yeah,

Just been setting it up tonight, the link appears in my signature (but the signature will only appear once per page per thread on here). I've got it updating to facebook and allsorts.

Link to it is http://www.mattcharlton.co.uk/blog/

I'm going to use it on a daily basis for my food diary so I can keep track of the points I'm eating.

Feel free to have a look though.

Well I have been very good this week so far, weigh in on sunday morning so will update you all then, as matt has said we have been out three times this week, and when picking what to have I must admit I have thought about what I was going to have more than normal. I am doing weight watchers and so one day did go over my points (sorry couldnt resist the chocolate fudge cake) but I try to work my points out weekly and as such still have points left to spare so far. I have however managed to resist the boxes of biscuits and tins of chocolate at the nurses station on the ward :)

Congratulations on all those still doing this, and long may it continue.

@Matt Charlton, is there any chance of some info on this treadmill and where you got it from, im really interested in getting one. How do you find it for ease of use and setting up? Did you have to build it yourself?

deleted by myself as posted in more detail by matt.

Hi Ant,

Yeah mate no problem.

Its a York Z16 with a weight limit of 150KG. The weight limit is one of the most important things on the treadmill because it obviously has to be able to handle your weight - generally a motorised treadmill with that sort of weight handling costs more than £800.

Did a bit of scouting about and found the treadmill for £595 (reduced from £799) with a free floor protector. Did a little more scouting around and found it in two places for £499 without a free mat, but the first place said they'd price match on their website. Sue phoned them and they flat out refused to do so, so we took our business elsewhere.

In terms of setting it up - you take everything out of the box, its bloody heavy. Put the base on the floor, attach either upright arm (4 allan screws in each), and attach the wires. Attach the console (another 4 allan screws) and the wires and you're done). All in all less than 45 mins including the unpacking - you need two people though.

The York information page is here:

http://www.yorkfitness.com/store/IIT_viewItem.asp?idProduct=235

The instruction booklet is here:

http://www.yorkfitness.com/store/PDF/Z16_instr.pdf

Ease of use is fab - you can have a manual program where you workout until you're done and you adjust the speed and incline dynamically or you can do one of the preset programmes, create your own or do one that keeps your heart rate in either weight loss or cardio zone.

Hope that helps, if you want anymore info just drop me a pm.

Is where we bought from, you also need a pack of the vivotion floor mats. I've butchered mine so I just needed a pack of 4 - you need to cover the area around the console but then theres two feet that touch the floor at the back of the treadmill which need covering - but you have enough foam mat leftover if you trim it a little.

I'll post a pic or two of the treadmill today.

I went shopping today I bought just fresh fruit, fresh veg, milk and bread filling the trolley!

I have started making home made soup, its filling and cheap too. Done 2 batches of Leek and potato plus a double sized batch of Carrot soup. 130-150 Kcals per bowl with a modified recipe! Now i've got a freezer filling up with soup :)

Had only 888 Kcals today out of my 2200 Kcals limit and still not hungry ! :D

I made some gorgeous carrot soup the other day. It was that nice I ate it all in one go :$ healthy, low fat, and filling!

My recipe give you 2.25 litres for a total of 804 Kcals (7 bowls). I could eat all 7 and still have Kcals left for 10 brews, 4 apples and a couple of slices of bread! My calorie limit has been set at 2200 but I've usually finished the day on 1200-1400 with some days at under a thousand and never reached 1500. Hoping I can get down to my ideal weigh as soon as possible so I can dig out the chocolate brownie recipes !

I don't know about anyone else but im going to be a bit annoyed if i havnt lost any lbs after this first week, lol, am feeling a bit unmotivated atm. altho i think iv been feeling less tired and lethargic since eating better so thats good :)

I am beginning to fit into fit into my jeans a lot better now and I am close to moving my belt to a former notch.:)
I am now wishing I had not taken that trip to the charity shop with some of my gear especially my pair of Jaeger denims which will probably fit me in a couple of weeks:(.

Well I have been doing weight watchers this week, and over the week have managed to stick to my points, I think most of my weight loss is because I got weighed first last sunday morning when I first got up, however it was after only 1 1/2 hours sleep and working nights, so think it was probably not a very accurate weight. I am very happy, and just hope for a weight loss for next week when hopefully it will be more reflective.

Hmmm sorry had to edit this as I had converted my weight from kilograms this week and converted it wrong, but still very pleased with my weight loss.

Congratulations thats a big loss. I lost about 6 lbs last week. It often happens that you have a big loss the first week then virtually none the second week before it evens out from then on so don't be too disappointed if you don't loose anything next time. My 2nd weigh in is tomorrow but having had a sneaky one this morning I seem to have lost half a pound! So this week it might go down as a zero!

Well done Sue

Thanks as I say I am waiting for next week really, as I think that will show better how I am doing, dont think first weight can be classed as very accurate as just finished a night shift really (during which I had been eating, healthy I must admit).

Don't pay much attention to the 2nd one either its the 3rd, 4th, 5th etc that show a more accurate picture.

Remember when you eat 1lb of meat/fat it adds 1lb to your weight (to begin with), likewise when you eat 1lb of salad it adds 1lb to your weight (just at that time). The difference is that MOST of the salad leaves you (taking that weight of undigested matter with it)! As this process does not happen as frequently as eating your weight goes up and down like a saw blade but over time it heads in the right direction! You can see this if you ate 1lb of something which is virtually undigestable such as celery. This is almost totally cellulose and as soon as you ate it you would be 1lb heavier. Then obviously it goes through you undigested and leaves! (in reality although celery has a calorie rating it actually takes more calories to attempt to digest it than you actually get from it so every stick of celery should be counted as a minus figure!).

I said earlier that I had lost less than a pound this week (2nd week) despite averaging 1200 Kcals a day, well I've just weighed myself again after visiting the smallest room and I'm now down to 13st 11 1/4lb so thats currently 2.5lb less than last Monday morning but it was looking like just half a pound earlier!! I suppose this is the reason most slimming classes tell you not to weigh yourself too often as it looks like you are going up and down like mad.

Right then, a more accurate figure now I hope.

Start Weight : 23st 1lb (146.8KG)
Current Weight : 22st 13lb (145.6kg)

Current Weight Loss : 00st 2lb (1.2kg)

This means I have one less WW point a day now ;)
