You have gone from size 18 to size 10-12 and you want to want to be a size 4.

Are you serious :cuckoo:

is there even a size 4 in english measurements for women folk?

Haha! I think she's saying she lost 8 sizes this year, so if she did the same next year she'd be size 4!

I'm starting the fitness drive this year. Moving into a flat in manchester that has a pool, and 2 gym's on site. Trying to watch what i eat, but i'm bloomin starving at the mo!

Good luck to all in 2009!

Size 4?! Thats teeny!! In a repeat from last year, I'm back on the TP weight-loss wagon as of today...good luck everyone! xxx

Me too Han (as of 1st Jan). Ill start a 2009 thread tomorrow, unless someone beats me to it :)

yes, went from size (UK sizes this is) 18 to 10/12, and want to be a 4, i used to be very slim when I was younger, so no i dont just have big bones :). Victoria Beckham better look out! :), besides, can only be rail thin when you're young :) and I just turned 20.

nooooo stay at uk sizes between 8 - 12 thats healthy and looks good :)

lol depends what you want :D, if trying to leash a husband, then yes 10 is great, if trying to wear high fashion and look 'ill' as for the look, then size 4 :D.

i dont think size 4 would just give u an "ill" look i think it might make u ill :S just worried when u see all these people who are too thin

Righty o, after falling off the bandwagon last year, im thinking im gonna give it another go. I took my weight on Monday, so i will check in each Monday evening to let you all know how im doing.
Good luck everyone.

If anyone wants advice, or someone to talk to feel free to add me at dominicprest@live.com

Or speak to me on xbox live via my tag (Check sig).

I used to weigh 17.5 Stone and I suffered from a skin disorder, I was not a pretty sight I can say that honestly, And I say it without any worry because Hence the word USED - In one year ive turned my life around.

I was clinically classed as obese and I got down to 11.4 Stone in 5 months of hitting the gym... I lived and breathed the gym for 5 month, Focused on the goal of having a good body. My skin disorder cleared up as did my speech problem (due to lack of confidence) I lived quite the sheltered life. My confidence and inspiration from getting where I am now has pushed me to take up Photography, something Ive allways wanted to do.

I said one year, then I said 5 months, The other 5 months I slowed down on the cardio and the strength training, begun doing Endurance and eating more, Slowly replacing bodyfat% with muscle and Ive got a just visible 6 pack in a year along with nice peks to boot, Im naturally very broad however.

So yeah, Feel free to chat to me, I got ALOT of life experience in just my short ,turned 19 yesterday! years of my life. Dealt with alot of ****, and prevailed through naysayers who thought I'd never make a change.

It is possible, it just takes your heart and soul to achieve it, Going to the gym is NOT a chore, its a godamm pleasure to do, it relaxes me and relieves stress, I dont as such go to get bigger these days I just do it to chill out and relax. Also I eat bout 4,000 calories a day without gaining a pound, I actually was begining to become anorexic, Turns out I had a insane metabolic rate and due to this I went a bit overboard at one point, Lost a stone from my last weighing at 11.2 and went down to the low 10 stone, very very skinny for someone whos only 5.10Ft.

Last few month Ive been putting the weight back on and now im casually working out in my home gym, alot more practical, free weights beats resistance machines anyday.

PLEASE Remove this bit if its not allowed in the rules, im new to the forums and im unaware.

If you want CHEAP Protein powder and protein bars for on the go ect, Use www.myprotein.co.uk - Dirt cheap compared to your high street sellers, Maximuscle protein powder in Holland and barret - 43£ for a bit tub... you get almost double for 12£ less or so.

Also I use their protein bars, 20 for 20£ 400 calories a bar with 25G of protein - Perfect for a snack (choco mint flavor :D) or good to replace a meal if your out and about with nowhere nearby to eat at.

Also that site has forums with people who have been bodybuilding their entire life, and other people who used to be obese/o/w and have made fabulous progress - Good people and give excellent advice, dont be shy if you need advice from gym nuts.

Now I hope that wasnt a bit to much - But I know some people (infact MOST people) need a good inspirational advice or a good read of somone whos been there, done that to give them the push to know its worthwhile and it is possible.

One thing - DO NOT go doing 100 crunches a day and that [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER], its all BS Im a trained physiotherapist and sports massauer. Aswell as a gym goer myself, Ive tried all sorts of methods ect - when you reduce bodyfat, We ALL lose it in different areas first, then the next different to others, you can NOT focus on the stomach by doing stomach exercises, only increase the muscle size. Which wont show through, if you dont do proper routine/eating to reduce enough Bodyfat to actually make it show through.

DO NOT let yourself be scammed by these [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] adverisements and crappy devices on TV like "Get a six pack in a month!" and crap, Believe me it takes time, patience, dedication and like I said, heart and soul.

Some people dont WANT a sixpack, and be ripped just want to be generally slim, to improve there fitness, the same applies, just dont over-do it ;)

Hope that all helps,

Thanks for reading.

Wow breakneck! Thats so encouraging! I'm 17st 11 now. scared the crap out of me hitting 18 after xmas. So trying to eat 5 a day and everything now.

Breakfast - special k bar - yes i should eat a REAL breakfast, but my job doesnt allow it!
have a clementine for a snack mid morning
lunch - ham sandwich on brown bread, banana, grapes, low fat yogurt, pack of skips.
afternoon i'll snaffle an apple and another clementine.
dinner - fish on noodles with salad.

So not too bad today! *** man is fruit expensive! All the food in here is now lean, low fat, reduced sugar, etc. I've stopped eating chocolate and sweets. And on thursday i move to the building with a gym on the premises. Only has running machines, bikes, and a weight bench i think. But its a start!

I would LOVE to lose 6 stone this YEAR, but in 5 months, you did AMAZING!!! I think i'll be lucky to lose 3 stone!

What sort of stuff did you do to lose weight in the beginning? Where should we be starting on this thin journey! Oh man, i have so many tee-s that i would just LOVE to fit back into!

Its absolutely no bother Ras - I love helping others out especially when it comes to fitness/health.

I personally train and advise two of my friends who have dropped the weight and are looking nice and toned, Funnily enough both got a girlfriend now, However im still to shy to ask >.> i'll get there lol!

And what job do you have mate? I could perhaps advise some meals to pre-prepare or products I know of that are good to eat to get you through work when you cant get access to proper food.

I eat bowl of porridge with 3 saches (3 servings in one go) with honey and protein powder (Tastes yuck, but it keeps me nice and energized till lunch (1PM from 9 am -.-) At college. Then I'll have a small bag of 30G of Cashew nuts, followed by a chocolate protein bar.

I also carry a shaker with pre-prepared powder inside ready for mixing and I take 50p with me a day to buy a small carton to mix it all with, drink and that puts me all off till I get home.

Pancakes with porridge oats mixed with protein powder and honey yet again. When I get in and followed by some scrambled eggs, toast a hour later.

I also chuck in other meals anything with high protein, high calories, low in saturated fat. SUGAR is the most important thing to avoid, Sugar without exercise turns to fat over time, the kind of fat thats harder to shift. Drinking green tea helps alot it flushes the crap out of your system and overall makes you more alert/awake than normal.

Also another thing, please note that FAT is NOT a bad thing! Saturated is, and FAT is energy when you deplete your primary energy. Eating a big -ass meal with loads of protein - Preserving your muscle when the metabolism kicks into overdrive and then when your energy stores are dead from lifting/running thats when your fat stores are digged into.

Oh and did you know after a workout your body still burns fat for 18 hours? - Thats right your constantly loosing weight in one sense. Water flucuates your weight ALOT, dependant on how much you drink a good 2lbs more can be seen on scales due to a bladder full of water haha. So Make sure when you weigh yourself, its on a even surface, flat, and its the same time and the same pattern days throughout the week, if you distrupt the pattern you weigh yourself in, you will not get a fair result, often it makes you feel dissapointed and you feel like you wasted time, but trust me its not the case.

Note: I never eat salads, and I never eat fruit just about, its very rare I do. Odd apple here and there.

For your Cardio Freaks out there - DO NOT think cardio means you'll reduce fat quicker, Its been scientifically (and ive done it myself) proven that weight lifting for STRENGTH and not endurance is actually quicker at losing fat, and at the same time you define your muscles alot more than cardio and thus - you get more defination all around and look a hell of a lot better in a shorter space of time.

Try it out for a few month and tell me im wrong :)

Another note: when doing weight lifting be sure to split your bodygroups into different days, giving time to relax more than 18 hours after your workout, preferably a full day to be safe working the same muscles. If you work dont worry aslong as you dont do to much you wont be un-doing what your trying to achieve by working your muscles when theyre tired.

Think of food as fuel - It keeps you going and thats that. Aslong as you eat right you can punish yourbody in more ways than you can possibly imagine.

I used to work out in my first few months till I'd drop, or be close to it, Light-legged and barely able to walk. Id barely be able to get out the bed the following day, yet I managed to get myself down the gym on that night at 9-11pm

- I did my extreme 5 months during the waiting period for the term to begin at college (first year) after school.. Decided to prove others wrong and show I could do it.

Had a good few lasses from school who wouldnt even bat a eye at me in school asking me out not even realising who I actually was this being after I got fighting fit and carrying myself with confidence I never even dreamed of having thanks to the gym :)

And for people curious to know what I said, I sent them packin'!

I changed my outside, but I kept my sound mentality of my old self - One thing I ask of you guys is to do the same, Ive seen some people let it go to their head, becoming cocky, arrogant and obnoxious pricks (to be blunt, unfortunately) And out a matter of principal and pride... is why I said no :)

Oh and sorry I almost forgot to mention.

If you do NOT eat enough protein and enough calories in total (2200 ish when first starting as a male) and approx 2000/2100 for a female? Not entirely sure as Im a man lol.

Muscle A-Trophy kicks in, this is when your body EATS muscle for energy, and leaves fat were it is, so eating more, is actually better for losing weight! Sounds crazy I know but its true. This past week or two I have felt a lose in strength dramatically, Birthday, new year, xmas in the same fortnight... No gym for me, alot of drinking and junk food eating haha.

So Begin to calorie count untill you unconciously can measure up what your eating without being paranoid and worried about not eating enough. Make sure you

When you eventually get slim/toned and want to gain size, you want to be eating 2500-3000 cals a day, and you want 1G of protein per LB of bodyweight to improve the best possible.

Back to the gym tomoz for me, PS - A TRAINING PARTNER is absolutely vital, pushing eachother is a great way to make progress. Luckly I have a elder brother whos 25 I train with him 3 days a week and we push eachother on and on, being brothers its perfect, the sibling rivalry hehe. :)

Hope i've been of help, Most bodybuilding sites try to prey on people who dont understand, ive tried to break it down into plain englishfor you to grasp what the body does with your intake before/after workouts to get a understanding of how important food is.

20% Of progress is in the gym... the other 80 is in the kitchen! must remember that!

1 Protein shake before gym, 1 after, 30-1 hour later, eat a meal.
Days off - One when you wake up with breaky, And then one before you goto bed.

Well thats it for now, Anymore tips let me know.
