The `C` word is banned in our house until December (the other C word, all year ;) ) so apart from my moneyboss buying the pressies, we try to avoid/ignore anything `festive`, be it food, films, music......

Bought the boys Star Wars advent calendars this year, which marked the start of it on Tues.

Yesterday I put the tree up & a few lights/decorations inside. Now had a couple of mince pies (aldi & co op are just fine) & moneyboss brought home a Serrano ham joint today.
Turkey is on order, plenty of booze in.............sorted. :cool:

Aldi was our winner last year, won't be this year. Coop is scheduled in for week after next to be tested against the others :)

Apparently I got it wrong, the ones we have are not Aldi, they are from LIDL (y) (quite crispy, buttery pastry. :cool: whereas the co op ones are heavier & stick to yer teeth :D )

Aha that makes more sense. I can't remember when and who is getting the Lidl ones. But we'll test them soon as well :) One of the support staff is even making us a Pie Chart :P
 
Love Christmas. Just put the decs up.. All in an hour. Wreath outside goes up when wind subsides....

We had some from Harrods 3 or 4 years ago & remember really liking them, but not as much as some others we had at the time. (forgotten which though)

Be interested in you final ratings when you've tried them all. (y) (you fat bloater! :D )

Clara Bow, surely? ;)

From what I've read of this year's mince pies, there's one of the expensive (£20/6 or so!) ones that's better than the Lidl ones (99p/6 or so), although they cheap ones might be Aldi's. We've been very good so far and haven't bought ANY, although we might have had a few tasters...
 
The pies from Lidl did not last long. They just had to be eaten. The sale by date is not very long. Need some more next Thursday. Mad our own large one and eat that IN TWO DAYS....

It's been a good week :) Each person has to bring in a minimum of 16 mince pies :) But on Wednesday we were lucky as there was a Birthday with Crispy Creme doughnuts, and the command centre were grateful for our free doughnuts so they brought some more in, tiny little Aldi one-biters with gold dust....Taste was good but a bit too much crust...

And here is a person who not that long ago didn't like mince pies....And most definitely had a very odd first bite as I was expecting, lets say more like a meat samosa filling when they told me they contained mince meat. I love them now :)

But running about 10km per day so I'm not that bloated...

2nd generous dose of brandy now poured over the Christmas pudding & cake. Another 2 or 3 applications to go during the next 2 weeks before applying a good 1/2"+ of marzipan all round & on top, then a thick layer of icing. :cool:

We buy 1 or 2 puds every year, then stick em in the cupboard & use ones from previous years. Always at least 1 year old, but usually 2 years.
