The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

Despite owning an A7R iv and X100VI I think the desire for a ZF has reached the point of no return, especially with the current UK prices not a million miles away from grey import. I've no idea where it will end up in my daily usage but there does seem to be something a little special in the files and the high ISO performance is something I'm missing at the moment.

If someone could tell me it's a sensible idea, I'd really appreciate it!

Well, they do say as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Unfortunately, my rose coloured spectacles are in the other coat... :naughty: :exit:

yay it's arrived! not bad considering i ordered it from park cameras yesterday afternoon - the listing mentioned something about dust, but i can't remember if it said it can affect the image or not - i'm pretty sure it said it would not affect image but i dare not shine a torch through it lol - it seems to work fine although it was freezing cold when it came off the dpd van so i thought it might mist up2470.jpg

I'm trying to resist the urge to get a Nikon a ZF orZFc in Black... The prices keep tempting me!!! :headbang:

Panamoz prices with a lens are beyond tempting. Insane value. I've often bought grey before but it's the UK prices that are making me think this time.

well I have a couple of gold and black boxes winging their way from Hong Kong courtesy of Panamoz should be here Thursday or Friday according to the tracking. Saved a £100 as well since I bought two items.... gotta love Panamoz.

I decided as I won't be taking the drone out every time, I'd get a proper hard case for it, plus it keeps everything together 20250303_130507.jpg

I've resisted the urge for a week but finally the temptation of a ZFc Black finally proved to much for me!!! OK, it's a grey import but the price of £609 was just too tempting!!!
 
Buy right! It can take a while and lots of experimentation but once the acceptance that there's no such thing as a perfect kit kicks in and a suitable compromise is reached, GAS can be cured - or at least held in remission. That doesn't mean that gear purchases can't be made, it just stops us chasing the impossible dream. REAL upgrades (say a VR lens replacing an older model) are potentially legitimate and non-GAS but a few extra bells and whistles that will never be used probably aren't.

I just got the mk2 version.
Incredible image quality.
 
I have over the years bought and sold loads of cameras and lenses ,got rid of quite a few because they didn’t live up to expectations especially the older four thirds range for Olympus MFT bodies .. … however since buying the Olympus OM1 I have found that they work far better with faster AF than before so I have. Since Xmas bought a nice selection of four thirds I now have a 50mm f2 / 11-22f 2.8/12-60f2.8/ 50-200f 2.8 ..that covers all my needs and this week I bought another 60mm macro f2.8 and have found that it’s now possible to get hand held focus stacking easily .. ..that’s enough GAS for a while I hope

it's pretty much the industry standard lens for a lot of working pros so a pretty safe choice - i was actually originally planning on the 28-70 f/2.8 from 1993 and saw what I thought was a 28-70 on Park Cameras (MPB had a couple that looked in poor condition) but then noticed I had purchased the 24-70 instead! I had a bit of a panic until I realised this was probably a better choice.

Well I'm not a pro but, as you rightly say, anyone who is earning a living from photography. will have a 24*70 2.8 in their kit bag.
It's my go to lens unless I'm chasing wildlife.

Yeah, I held one at the photography show on Tuesday. Just to see the handling difference compared to my EF 300mm II.
It’s amazing how canon have made these new big whites as light as they have for what they are.
As much as I’d love one though. The 600mm I bought new last year will have to do :D

I've just returned from shooting a 4 day event in Glasgow and I got to pair the R1 with the RF 100-300 quite a lot over those 4 days, it's a dream combo and the image quality is superb
 
I want the RF 70-200 Z - badly!

I have the EF II and love it and it’s one of only two EF lenses I have left.
When the RF model appeared I was kind of happy that I didn’t like the extending design as I was perfectly happy to stick with my EF and had no GAS at all over it.

Then they released the Z which is the true successor and the proper 70-200. Oh Canon why did you have to do that?! :(

It’s surprisingly light too.

I held one alongside the 24-105 2.8 at the photography show; as the black version looks pretty much identical. Just to see how much more the 70-200 likely weighed.

But the 70-200 is actually (noticeably) the lighter of the two…
 
I'm actually wondering how the 70-200 Z with a 2x would fare against the 100-500 (which I have).

Ok you're giving up 100mm on the long end but the test shots at The Digital Picture suggest the IQ is basically identical.
