A bit of an Arsenal master class yesterday. We were well and truly put in our place. Yesterday showed the amount of work we still need to do to stay up around the top four. Arsenal were frightening to watch at times. That's the best I've seen them play in a long long time. I hope they keep it up because I would love for them to win the league.

Well done Arsenal.

fantastic performance from cardiff city today a well deserved 3 points and local derby bragging rights.

Saw some of the 2nd half and Cardiff we up for it - looked like they had 3 players more than Swansea!

I was hoping for a Swansea win.

Spent 4 years living in a house that backed onto the Vetch RIP and watched them during the grim years.

Caught his studs in the turf apparently. Last time I did that, it mashed my ankle and ended my playing days (alright, I was too old & fat anyway).

He's having a scan on Monday so hopefully will find out then.

Confirmed as ACL :(

Poor lad

Arsenal's performance was good, brilliant in parts, but if the truth be known, Liverpool failed to take their chances.

In his current form, Ramsay is worth more than Bale, just as well he signed a new 5 year contract in the summer. I can't believe Chelski lost, all of their fans have disappeared off of Facebook !

This is the worst Man U team I can remember.

De Gea....Top notch.

Evra and Vidic still ok

Rooney and VP excellent

The rest are mediocre at best. Ashley Young, how crap is he?

BT Sport win £897m Champions League football rights deal.

An interesting decision by UEFA. Money talks of course. ;) I used to watch all the Champions League coverage that was on terrestrial TV, then they started playing around with the days of which games were on ITV and Sky, and then ITV didn't get the highlights of the Wednesday night games to later in the week, or even the next week, and I started to go of it. Now I hardly watch it at all.

It seems BT are trying to do for internet prominence what Sky did for Satellite prominence, and and buy the football rights to attract subscribers to their service. It worked for Sky, and it may work for BT in establishing a strong online presence. Just as with Sky though, I won't be subscribing any time soon.

Just goes to show how much Ale Faurlin means to his team-mates. Barton scores (cracking free kick btw) and they all run to the touchline to hold up Ale's shirt, lovely touch.

Pleased with the performance, pleased with the point, just hoping today's injuries aren't going to cause long term problems.

Yes - BT certainly operating with intent.

I haven't watched BT Sport that much but as a SKY customer with BT as my ISP I get it for free.

Liverpool have been all over Fulham in the 1st half. Liverpool have been very good, but Fulham have been poor, retreating to just in front of their 18 yard box for much of the game.

I fear for Jol, and Fulham, after this and recent performances.

Good win that. Fulham were terrible though. Shame about pointless international football that nobody cares about next week.

Liverpool are going to win the World Cup and the Copa America and the African Cup of Nations. We are so good.

Should have won really but most other results we good for us

I have BT Sport having never before feeling Sky was worthy of the fee. The big thing for me was that I'd have to pay for broadband regardless, so I may as well go for an offer that includes free BT Sport player as all the packages are much of a muchness anyway. My longterm concern has always been that free access to BT Sport for those on broadband with them was only going to be a 1 or 2 year deal to allow people to experience the service they provide before they make the transition to charging everyone for it. Time will tell, but for now I think it's good news.

As for a Liverpool fan losing interest in the CL, well I'm not surprised when you're so rarely in it :D

Which is why I mentioned being a Liverpool fan before someone else tried to be as 'funny'. ;)

I was losing interest while Liverpool was still in it. How can you feel involved in a competition you can't see all the games in? The FA and League Cups are the same. Carve up all games to different TV, and now web companies, and the competitions are diluted, for me at least. I think the FA Cup has really suffered from not being available on terrestrial TV, and added to moving finals around, was just messing too much with tradition for me. The FA Cup Final should be at 3pm on a Saturday after the season has ended. End of.

The England games not being freely available also p***** a lot of people off. All England games should be on the BBC. There was no need for the FA to make money on the England team games. If you want the country to follow the England team, you don't limit the country's access to their games. Alas money is everything, and money always wins. :dummy: :sulk::bang:

Good win for Liverpool today, and thankfully a clean sheet too. :) Not that Fulham looked like scoring, but Liverpool sometimes take their foot off the pedal and give away a sloppy goals.

Super Saints just keep climbing and playing great football. Recognition for a few of our squad with England call ups too. :-)

Have to say, they've certainly exceeded expectations. 3rd of the way through the season and 3rd in the Premier League, best of luck for the rest of the season.

No surprise that we keep a clean sheet when we go back to a back four. Please learn that lesson, Buck!

A flat back four isn't always the answer. A good team has the flexibility to have different ways of playing. The skill is in using the right tactics at the right time against the right team. ;)

Well, the stats speak for themselves. No goals against with four at the back...

I don't know the stats of how many goals scored with three at the back, but maybe three at the back can give more attacking options. At least you hope it would. ;) You would also hope that the defence would be better with four at the back, at least initially, because they have played in that formation more often and know that system better. But as I said, you need the flexibility amongst the players to be able to play in different formations for different games. You also need to make best use of the players you have too. If getting all your best players in the team at the same time needs a change of formation, then you try it out.

Not everyone plays 4-4-2, and neither should they, and you need to be able to play against different formations too, and that may dictate playing in a different formation, and if all you ever do is 4-4-2 yourself, you may find it hard to change to compensate for the opposition and take advantage of their formation choice. Do Liverpool play four at the back against West Ham for example, who virtually don't have one forward at the moment, never mind two?

I know Liverpool will now play three at the back against West Ham and Nolan and some defender will score. :bonk:

Thankfully Rodgers feels he has the players to play in different ways, and he may have more options to win games because of that. Yes, a clean sheet always gives you a chance to win with one goal, but I don't mind letting the odd goal in as long as we score more. Works for Barcelona. ;)

We've been playing five defenders though meaning that the midfield have been overrun and we've had three centre backs against one attacker at times. I'm all for flexibility, but if that means dropping our best ball playing centre back then something is wrong. I know GJ and JE have been out, but we've still had the players for 4-4-3.

Anyway, saying all that I am very happy with how we are progressing and our position.

Oops! 4-3-3. That'll teach me not to reply whilst loading the car with a 3 yo in tow!

Fascinating day of football and results there. Arsenal losing has made it a bit more cramped at the top too.

Yep

A big 3 points for United but we should have done better than 1-0.

We could have been 11 points off the pace tonight so I'm more than happy sitting just 5 points behind with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City fixtures played.

Yep, very decent win for you. Outside chance you'll make the top five now. ;)

A draw would have been a fair result, but you can't win them all. Only consolidation is Chelsea, Spurs and City all dropping points this weekend.

How about Rafael? He's been brilliant this season. And Giggs?

Other than those two though, yeah I agree, pretty dire lol

In fairness mate, I was only commenting on the midweek game, I don`t watch a lot of live football.

But yeah, Rafael played well last season and Giggs is still decent.

The way this season is going we've as good a chance as anybody else ;)

Yeah, I agree. We all thought it might be an interesting season post SAF and it's proving so. There are genuinely half a dozen teams who could win it.
