Interesting weekend in the Premier League. Liverpool played pretty poorly, though they may have deserved a draw. Just.

I thought there was going to be an upset for Chel$ki after 13 seconds  and for most of the first half as they recovered from the shock of the v quick goal. Pity they came back though. Southampton didn't look as good as they have so far.

Spurs v Utd went back and forth for goals.

Pity Martin Jol getting the sack, but Fulham are looking very poor this year so far, while he is obviously culpable, he has been let down by the players.

Arsenal keep on form and give themselves a gap at the top.

And City steamroller another team at home. If they can translate that to away form, it's theirs for the taking if the don't leave it too late to catch whoever is at the top, probably Arsenal on current form. ;)

well its time for cardiff city to start getting some points we have stoke tonight and crystal palace on the weekend followed by liverpool we realy could do with 6 points out of these three fixtures.
arsenal are definatley the best team in the prem at the moment when they beat cardiff city they didnt get out of first gear and
they stand a very good chance of winning the title this year

Suarez really does love Norwich, doesn't he? Three of the four are world class tonight.

big win for the Toffees too.

Some crackers from Suarez tonight.

Everton were average tonight.

Oh hang on Everton were the other team lol

Huge win for Everton \ reverse for Man Utd - Moyes is going to be feeling the pressure now (I'm not suggesting he should go).

In more important matters however QPR are second in the Championship despite our extremely small squad and limited budget.

The forgot the most important bit, we scored 3 goals! :D

Very true! When we went up last time I missed most game as my wife was expecting our son in January, and this year we are expecting our second son in January, so if we go up our household is going to have to claim some credit! As an aside my wife has been to around 20 matches (though has refused for a good few years now) but has never seen us lose in the league, which in itself is a miracle. If we need a miracle I may write to Tony to get us a box and the consequent guaranteed victory!

Get him to set up a birthing suite in the box. :D

Great display from Suarez.

Unfortunately, after Liverpool's display on Sunday, I chose Ramsey as my Captain instead of Suarez, a difference of 12 points compared to a possible 42. :bang:

Great result for Everton too.

Loads of goals tonight. Looking forward to MotD. :D

No message at all other than non Utd fans seem strangely preoccupied with them at the moment

I'm very preoccupied with them atm due to Cabaye's goal. ;)

Lol

I've been half watching the match. Hernandez and Januzaj we're linking up well in the first half and a rub of the green for their goal.

Strangely I'm quite enjoying this season without the nerves of title chasing etc.

First win at OT in over 40 years for Newcastle so they'll be happy.

For some reason, I thought they'd beaten us at home in the last couple of seasons

Long awaited win by the Toon at Old Trafford, has lifted my spirits after midweek Swansea defeat. And yes Phil, its always nice to beat United, but if im honest they seem to be off the boil since Fergies gone, will they respond, and if no Champions league, what will be the long term consequences ?

Who knows ?

The 'view of the club' is that Moyes has been appointed on a 6 year contract with a view to the long term.

Ultimately it will depend on whether the Glazers and the fans are prepared to be patient but there have been significant changes at the club besides Moyes.

I said at the start of the season that I had no real expectations but you would have to say that Champions League qualification is the aim now.

I've been on about our central midfield (or lack of one) for years. Fergie failed to address it so hopefully something will happen on that front.

I'm finding it quite interesting as a United fan. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather be top of the league but after 20 odd years of title races it's quite liberating to not be watching the table after every game or concerning myself with other club's results.

Good to see you take it so well.

Good to see you take it so well.

I supported United long before Fergie showed up so have experienced lean times as well as great times.

Younger United fans might not take it so well as they've known nothing but success.

Rewind 20 odd years and it was the younger Liverpool fans who had known no different.

Yep, I get that, obviously. We've been a cup team for my entire adult life, but I remember the 80's and endless success.

3 (arguably 4) own goals at Anfield this afternoon. West Ham looking in all sorts of trouble although the WHU forums are rejoicing that Nolan will be suspended after the sending off! How long for Big Sam I wonder.

Strangely i dont want the Toon to qualify for European football, we dont have a large squad, and our owner will not spend to build one, and as last year showed we struggled. Still its good that teams that once dominated are now experiencing a more level playing field. Makes things more interesting, however will big players start looking elsewhere, if im honest i would like to see the vast amounts of money depart the premiership, might lead to home grown players improving by getting more chances.

Anyhoo to end a perfect day Toon win, Ivory gull turns up in Northumberland, cmon Spurs thrash the Makems. :) :) :)

You need to work on your photoshop skills Dean. I can still make out the liverpool crest from the original image :gag:

Spurs astonishingly fortunate again as far as penalties go. This time it's one they should have conceded but didn't.

Arsenal have a fantastic opportunity following today's results to stretch the gap at the top to 7 points but Everton will be up as up for it as ever. I hope we can deliver the result but I have modest expectations.

I expect a draw. Hope for a draw.

This is what I was alluding to earlier when I said I was enjoying our (Man Utd's) current situation as it's just so different.

I'm almost pre-programmed to want the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and City to loose but (with top 4 now in mind) I should probably want the top teams to beat the teams that are closer to us in the table.

Kagawa wasn't available for United yesterday because he was getting his stomach pumped......

.......because he ate too much food. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Every time I get the result right I fail to bet on it. Good result all round that one.

City v Arsenal has been a great game. Sometimes top of the table games don't live up to the occasion, but this has. Non stop, and competitive till the last minute. ;)

Yet again we show we can't compete with one of the other big 3. Defending was shocking for goals and what the hell was koscielny doing for 1st one? Never looked like winning. Fair play we beat the smaller sides but we seem to be scared against the Man U, man c and Chelsea's. Can't see us getting anything next Monday.

Only saw the second half, a great game and Arsenal looked like they could get right back
in it for a while. As a neutral I hope one of those two win the title.

I'd agree.

Despite sitting pretty in the league I'm still undecided on both Arsenal and Liverpool's title chances.

Arsenal seem to struggle in the so called bigger games although they made Liverpool look fairly ordinary.

Liverpool's fixtures to date make it difficult to tell how well they're doing.

I think I went with Chelsea but much as it pains me to say it - I can't see past City for the title.

Couldn't agree more. Whilst we're doing better against the lesser sides this period against Spurs, City and Chelsea without Sturridge or Gerrard will be tough. I wouldn't be surprised of we don't get a point from those games.

Did you really expect to win away at city? Honest answer please.

I'm not going to use excuses of 3 massive games in a week or injuries for losing today, Sometimes you get beaten by the better team, and let's not forget city are most people's favourites to be crowned campions this season.

On a positive note, who would have thought at the beginning of the season Arsenal would be sitting top of the league 3 points clear and get through to the knock out stages of the CL with the terms in that group? Not many including me!
