A draw would have been a fair result, but you can't win them all. Only consolidation is Chelsea, Spurs and City all dropping points this weekend.

Not sure, I know we had possession but aside from a couple of Sagna crosses didnt really create much, we looked tired. Jones was excellent for them.

You could tell that illness had swept through our team. Our passing was so untidy, we were yards off the pace and seconds behind on the decision making. As it happened only a fortunate flick off RVP's shoulder could separate us from a still very mediocre United. We "played little bit with handbrake" as someone might say.

It was a disappointing loss but now the international break couldn't come at a better time and we're still top of the table. Hopefully after this break we'll actually have one or two recognised wingers back in the side to give us a lift! Gary Neville's comments during the match seemed completely oblivious to the fact we were playing 6 midfielders when he was criticising the whole squad for lacking any pace, forgetting entirely that Walcott, Ox and Podolski have been sidelined for months.

While I am a big fan of Giroud, it would be nice to give him a rest and keep him on his toes so the quicker Walcott or Podolski can get back and play a few games up top the better.

A very open league though...

Didn't see all the game but the bits I did see I thought we were ok, seemed to dominate Germany and aside from creating clear chances did most things well. Smelling proved he should be nowherer near the squad and gerrard was poor. It was a defeat but not too bad.

All a bit meh. England were ok but it was all a bit predictable including the result.

Ronaldo was on form though lol

If Gerrard was poor, and I'm not saying he wasn't, what was Cleverley?

As for England, they huffed and puffed but didn't look an attacking force, and where pretty ineffective. Good goal by Mertesacker though. Well placed, though the defence didn't exactly make it that hard for them.

Hart had a good game, which was needed for his career I think. Though I wouldn't have played him, as we have very few chances to check out other players between now and the World Cup, and we need to make use of these friendlies.

Agree. Hart should not have played. Let's see ruddy.

Based on form Henderson should have started. Not cleverly.

Was there football on last night?

I've just had a look at the goals in the France v Ukraine game because Sakho scored two of the goals for France, and the Benzema goal was clearly offside, and Ukraine had player receive a very harsh 2nd yellow to be sent off. I wouldn't be feeling too happy if I were a Ukraine supporter. :suspect: :sulk:

Hmmmm. Brown envelopes to FIFA again??? Blatter about to get a new pool? "Lucky" last time around v Ireland.

Just read an article about the top selling player shirts 2013/14 so far.
Some interesting names on there, and I didn't expect Messi not to be #1.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo
2. Lionel Messi
3. Mesut Ozil
4. Robin van Persie
5. Wayne Rooney
6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
7. Neymar
8. Sergio Aguero
9. Fernando Torres
10. Shinji Kagawa

Kagawa has certainly caught the attention of the Asian market. Kerching for Utd having three players in there. ;) I wouldn't have expected Torres to still be there after the last few years he's had. I supposing it counts National as well as club shirts, because I can't see many Chel$ki fans buying many shirts after his initial arrival. ;) Ozil, seems to have whipped the Arsenal fans into buying a lot of shirts. I can see a lot of Argentine shirts for Aguero, maybe not as many City shirts.

My first post in this thread.. I'm off to see AFC Bournemouth thrash Derby (first footie match I will have ever been to) tomorrow afternoon with Pater. i.e. Pater's coming with me, he's not playing for the Cherries.
Do footie fans still take the wooden rattles with them? I haven't got one you see. ;) Or a scarf, poor show I suppose.

Hope there's some goals.

Merseyside Derby in half an hour. I simply cannot watch!

Amazing Merseyside derby. Can't help but feel Everton couldn't have been clear and dry the number of times they were through 1 on 1against Mignolet!

Well the derby was a great game that had everything.

Early goals, Liverpool going ahead, Everton coming back, and Liverpool clinching a draw at the end with Sturridge coming off the bench to score the equaliser. In all that you had a couple of great goals, Suarez's free kick threaded a needle, ;) great saves and some poor finishing, and a controversial tackle that should have seen Everton down to 10 men.

A proper local derby played a hundred miles an hour and 100% commitment. Hope they show a lot of that on MotD, as I can't see there being too many better games than that today.

Special shout out to local lad John Flanagan who had a great game.

Yeah, he was. 3 or 4 times he was left 1 on 1 with an Everton striker and every time he blocked the shot. Everton would have been out of sight if it weren't for Mignolet!

Was Migno;et as good as his FF points indicate? Conceded 3 goals but still amassed 4 points.
He made a lot of great saves today. His best was probably from Lukaku before he scored his 2nd I think. Mignolet readjusted to a deflected shot to push it wdie, but as the play went on Liverpool didn't clear the ball and it came back in for Lukaku to score

Would they have been so attacking with 10 men? ;) Allen missed a sitter from a great move too. I think a fair result in the end.

Yep, fair result all told. Both sides had guilt edge chances to score more, but the Miralles challenge on Suarez was an absolute shocker.

The Wes Brown red card...what the hell?! Absolute gift for Stoke that decision!

Good win for the O's today after last weeks hiccup, back on top one point ahead of Wolves who we play on Dec 29

Stunning start in the Man City v Spurs game. A goal in 14 seconds.

Spurs were in danger of getting blown away, and so they bring on Adebayor. If I were Defoe I would be busy choosing where I want to go to finish my career, because it looks like he has little chance of playing at Spurs if he sticks where he is.

If the Adebayor who can rip teams apart turns up, it could be a masterstroke. I doubt it though, seeing as City have just scored their 4th.

“It has a negative impact when you lose your best players, always,” Wenger said. “Because you are perceived by your fans as having a lack of ambition. The rest of the squad loses strength in their team. We have gone through that process consistently and it always demands a mental adjustment to keep your ambition alive. It’s very difficult.”

Yup Arsen, when you don't replace them. Spurs have swapped one very talented player for 7 more talented players, so we now have a strong squad, something we've not had in several years. Hopefully we can now cope with key players away injured as we have quality replacements.

“There is a technical risk when you buy more than three players,” Wenger said, “because you unbalance the stability of your squad a little bit.

And that answers everyones queries on why Arsenal havent signed players. To be fair, they've done well for what they have, have a great stadium, but it's cost them trophies.

Where's Byker these days? :D

100+ Million spent by spurs just goes to show money isn't always the answer, just look at Southampton for example, had the beaten Arsenal on Saturday they would be sitting pretty on top of the league.

Spurs were a joke, defending was non existent. Some spurs fans I know think avb should go, and it's and to disagree when u see how they play. They see, to have 15 central mids, no width, no strike force and a proven goal scorer like Defoe can't get a prem game.

Agreed - he could have put the wee toe rag out for 6 months with a bit more conviction.

Joking aside - it was a shocker.

The other way around and it would have been front page news with Suarez up for attempted manslaughter. ;)

What happened to you guys? I didn't seethe game and always fancied Cardiff for a point, but I hear Malkey saying he's disappointed with a point??

Your right, if Suarez had done that there would have been calls for a 10-12 game ban. He suffers in the way that some other players like Barton do... ok they are not angels but if they fart out of turn they get slated.

Yet another week or cack refereeing. Yes, it is a difficult job, and often players dont make it easy with diving etc... but the fact he booked Miralles proves he saw something and should have been red, while the Wes Brown red was a total joke.

Agreed, both decisions a joke. And, for what it's worth, Suarez hasn't put a foot wrong this season.

Actually, Suarez was just as reckless in the same game last season, not once, but twice, and never received a card. There was very little headhunting in the papers the following days, and he put Miralles out for 8 games. Miralles was lucky to stay on the pitch; I guess the ref saw it as a typical derby tackle. And what was with the Liverpool physio coming on a minute later and having a quiet word in the refs ear? Whatever he said incited the Everton players and a look of amazement from the ref.

To be fair the pitch side camera from behind the ref clearly showed his head facing well away from the tackle when it came in. I'd be amazed if he saw it at all.

how wayne rooney wasnt sent off yesterday is a mystery to me sayng tha gary medel was lucky after bitch slapping fellani after fellani elbowed him.
i was happy with a point but we could have nicked all three points man u where average at best i was chuffed when they brought on danny wellbeck seeing as he dosent score many goals:lol::lol:

bleddyn

You wouldn't expect Sid to be holding a balanced opinion here. He never has before.

I did say that Miralles was lucky to stay on; it was a reckless challenge. I then only pointed out the hypocrisy regards Suarez and his challenges in the same game last season.
And why quote someone else's viewpoint and mention me?

I can, and do actually have unbiased, open minded conversations regards footie, but when it comes to the blinkered, rose tinted, one sided views with Kopites on here, it's difficult.

Oh, sorry, I didn't realise I'd missed some rule where you can't quote someone else in conversation. Anyway, bored of you now. Bye.

So, on to other matters. Jose out?
