I don't see a problem with selling on world class players. Especially those with a history of injury who are getting older. May as well sell them at the peak of their value, not in a couple of years when he's older, worth less, and potentially had his value decimated by another injury which has to be considered a likely possibility. There's nothing wrong with selling quality players. Man united sold Ronaldo and lived on. As long as that money is used to bring in new quality.
I actually would not be too upset if RVP leaves as he has only had 1 injury free season, and if we could get £20m for him lets take it! But my worry is that the cash will not be spent, and if you look at Ronaldo, Man U went out and spent loads of money since then, not something we are likely to do.
