From a less biased point of view to joe, I have to agree. Textbook header, perfect.

Judging by football played I'd say the Italians. Brilliant football. Really a team the understands each other. Spain have been average at best and if it wasn't for the negativity of England they would have been ridiculed by all. So I'll go Spain just because that's the way footie is going at the moment.

But I really hope the Italians show them!
 
As for the ff, I hope I can hang on to 2nd place, only having 3 players on the field there's zero chance I can win, but hopefully will be able to defeat my mortal enemy's :D
 
I managed to hold on to 5 transfers for the final suspecting a quarter/semi final upset so despite banking a little on Germany I've been able to get 9 players starting today.

Hoping for an Italy win today!
 
'Boring' Spain...if only Scotland/Newcastle/Ross County (delete when needed) could play that boring football like Spain have in the the first 15 mins.
 
Much better football from Spain tonight compared to their previous games!
 
One thing I'm absolutely certain of after this first half of football is England will never ever win this tourn. They just don't have the skill or the guts! shame!

Don't agree. I thought Italy started to get a hold of the game. But, as is with spain, one slick pass and italy find themselves facing 2. But credit where its due.

Why can't we see a return to the old fashioned drop balls - where you kick away, hate this giving it back to the other team nonsense.

Well, I do believe I have got the golden boot! Followed by 2nd place. Well done James for clinching it, I'm chuffed with 2nd place and the golden boot, especially since after the first game I was bottom with -2 points.

Great competition all round.

Man of the match for me is a toss up between Jordi alba and xavi

Spain always raise the bar during the tournament, start slowly and peek at the end. The Spain we saw tonight was a different level, doubt any other team could come close to them. I still think that defensively it's their weakest area, but that's relative towards the rest of the team. Wouldn't bet against them in 2014.

It was a close run thing towards the end there but saving my transfers for an upset turned out to be worthwhile. Just had a look at the sky match report and Iniesta grabbed their man of the match. He's done me proud throughout; I've made him my captain for every Spanish game and he's really brought in the points.

I take it no-one is going to explain the wonders of the AC header then ,,, yes *** (cant mention his name or my post gets removed) i have headered a ball, but ****** (dunno if mentioning your name will get my post remove, but dont want to risk it) what is a "text book" header?
 
Missed the final unfortunately.

I predicted at the start (just to be different lol) that Italy would win it but I wasn't bothered either way once England had crashed out.

I was starting to get a bit bored of Spain (and still am) so I'm glad to hear that they put in a decent performace tonight.

Was it me or did they not talk again about the goal of the tournament on the bbc last night having mentioned it at the start. For me it was the ibrahimovic goal closely followed by andy carrolls amazing header against sweden.

Although the jordi alba goal in the spain game was also sublime the way xavi put it on a plate for him, probably one of the most perfectly weighted passes I have ever seen. I'm really surprised iniesta got man of the match over xavi.

Well I would say that the one thing it showed was that you were unlucky with your captain choices. Had you captained a lot with the players that got goals and assists then you would have got higher up the table.

My biggest mistake was misunderstanding (didn't read properly) how the transfers worked. I didn't realised all the knockout games were one round so used my transfers up too early. :bonk:

Thanks! I always lose patience with the premier league one and forget to make changes.
