What's the betting the players will be slagged off in the press tomorrow. Of course England was a weaker side, but they were very good in defence at least...Otherwise we would have lost 6-0.

I honestly don't get why England fans get so wound up when they lose a quarter final. Italy, Germany, Argentina, Holland, Brazil, Spain etc etc etc have ALWAYS been better sides. England have never been anything other than a quarter final team when home advantage wasn't a factor. Surely yet another showing in a quarter final shows that England have met their expectations?

I don't think anyone believes we're on a level with the likes of Spain and Germany. They get wound up because they're passionate and want us to win a trophy and it's always disappointing when those dreams get stamped out for another 2 years. Objectively, we've done OK and I think Roy has done great. Emotionally, I'm gutted.

"Toe Poke"

Oi....now cut that out. That was a well hit strike that would be classed as a top 10 wonder goal if it was hit by someone in a white shirt but because it was hit by the dark blue all of a sudden it was a 'toe poke'.

Not quite true, we have been on the wrong end of some dubious disallowed goal decisions that have halted our progression in quarter finals but to be fair we also had some luck back in '66. (notice the balanced view)

Thank goodness somebody understood

It's a great moment in football and always a great bit of Eng/Scot banter which a lot of my lot South of the border wouldn't get.

Lawro had a bad game too...should be put out to grass.

I'd be interested to see a table of the highest paid footballers to see how true that statement is.

I'd be happy to read it!

So who are you guys going to be cheering for now?

Germany believe it or not for me. They were my pick to win before the tournament and I love how they combine structure and organisation with creativity. Spain, despite being arguably the best team in the tournament, have played in all the least entertaining games in my opinion. Germany, on the other hand, have played by far the most entertaining football.

We even have a song about it...although I may get an enforced couple of weeks off from the boards if I were to quote the song.

I want Portugal to win but I am not sure I could predict a winner or loser out of the last four teams.

I know but it would be rude not to

can we agree it was a 'kind of' poke ?

Espana. The Father in Laws team and home country, so I kinda feel a strong loyalty to him.

Tut tut then you should know it's España not Espana! You're as bad as the delinquents in this thread that refer to Barça as Barca!

Saludos a tu suegro!

It's my lazy spelling, not my knowledge ;)

I'll pass your regards on to my Father in Law, let's hope we're celebrating an España win next weekend!

I'll just say it may questions a certain pundit of that time and possible relationships with others....not necessary being of the opposite sex.

And no we can't, it was all laces.

Think it's going to be Spain and Germany final, Germany winning 2-1. Spain's defense is weak and was disappointed that the French never really got at it. Germany have the attacking power to do so, they just need to try and frustrate the midfield of Spain and control the ball as much as possible.

Absolute tosh. We can pronounce names as we see fit as it is our language we are writing in. Do you write Munich or Munchen (with the correct German spelling or do you say Deutchland)

no excuses for spelling from my mobile device.

Are you for real? Your 'faux Spanish' undertones in every post are rapidly wearing thin. *bites tongue to avoid a ban*

What a joke - not us, the crappy BBC who should have all public funding taken away. If Italy were so good as **** Mowbray was saying they would have won in 2 hours of footie!

We were the best I have seen in 8-10 years. I think Young should have come off early on and Ox in his place, but we battled and on another day either team could have won 2-0.

Very proud, and to all those Terry haters, he was MOM IMO, outstanding at the back, glad we kept Rio at home!

Whilst I still we think just about reached expectation levels I'd have given my right arm to be able to call on some of the players that made the news for missing out.

Defence - we did OK with class players
Attack - we went with what we had (but couldn't supply)
Midfield - I still maintain we're stuggling. Great stoppers but too tied to that back 4 to allow our forwards to play.

Have England been that bad in the last 10 years?

If it wasn't for Terry, it would have been a different game completely. Italy would have scored in 90 minutes, probably turned more defensive and allowed England to develop more up front .... or it would have been about 4-0 Italy.

im rooting for germany now too. They play well, they aren't arrogant with it, they dont cheat and dive. Unlike the italians, portugese and the spanish.
