Just a simple white rose...

Nice work Paulie.
Much more difficult than it looks to light it so well.
No deep shadows, no large areas of burnt out whites, and fine detail.

Thank you, Jonathan (y)
I'm lucky to have a big skylight right above the table, so kinda get the best of both worlds, as there's patio doors just a couple of feet away too :)

I can't see them on Fujis website, but is it possible to buy replacement original lens pouches?

Pete.

Do you "need" a Fuji one? I'm sure there are plenty on Amazon, and the like, that will do the job.

My mum was telling me the other day that due to a thing called eccentric fixation, she sometimes can't see things if she looks directly at them. It doesn't usually bother her, but she was saying that Orion is her favourite constellation and can't see his sword any more, so I tried getting a shot for her tonight. Just handheld, with the 35 F/1.4. Quite pleased with how this came out:

Did Fuji use a lower quality paint on the X100F?

I'm looking at getting one, but even those rated as Excellent on MPB etc show quite heavy scratching to the paint, most noticeable on the silver models, yet earlier models, S and T, even those rated as only good, rather than excellent don't look to have anywhere near the amount of marks and scratches?

MBP’s rating can’t be trusted IMO. Or rather, the don’t represents the truth of its description.

They would rate something without a box, accessories as “mint”. I’ve seen some with weird residue on the bottom rated as excellent.

Dont trust their rating system at all, judge it by photos. Pretend their rating system don’t exists.

Yes, agreed, I always go by the photos.

It just stood out to me that every X100F I look at seems to have a lot more battle scars than any other X100 model.

Sometimes the photos don't show everything.

My X-T1, there is a TINY scratch on the EVF. You can't see it when looking through the viewfinder but it is there when looking at the surface. That was not mentioned or shown in the listing.

My 35/1.4 came without a hood, yet the listing showed it had a hood. Of course the photos doesn't show it, but then the photos don't show the box either even when they do come with one. So in that instance I trusted the listing.

Whoever takes the phones and whoever writes the description on the site must be different people and they must have so many to do in a day that they just go "Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe"

I’ve always been happy with everything I’ve had from them, but I don’t pay a lot of attention to the photos. For example there’s a Samyang 12mm auto focus lens listed at the moment, but the photo shows the manual focus version.

I've not really had a bad experience with MPB apart from one instance when I was sure a bit was on the listing (can't remember which bit tbh it was ages ago) but when it arrived the bit wasn't there. I contacted them but they insisted the listing I had ordered the bit wasn't shown. I had no recourse as the listing was no longer on the website so I returned the item and bought elsewhere. Since then I always take a screenshot of the listing I am ordering and any photos (on any online purchase) as my record of what I ordered. Fortunately I haven't needed to use the screenshots as evidence since I haven't had a bad experience since but once bitten as they say.

They're a strange bunch. I've traded a few things with them and even though I had boxes etc, they told me not to bother with all that as they remove them anyway... Seems like an odd decision and I can't see why they'd willingly devalue things like that.

That said, I've always had good experience with them. I guess I've been lucky because everything I've bought has been better than expected.

They even bought my limited x100vi for pretty much ebay prices. I think an employee probably wanted it - I initially didn't act on their mediocre quote, then they got in touch and asked what it would take. I pointed them towards the crazy ebay prices and they agreed to (almost) match it. I never did see it for sale on their site...

I've bought and sold to them over the years. Only had one issue about 6 years ago when I bought a Sony E kit lens for my boy and it kept getting an error. Obviously had to send it back, for them to look at, to send another out to me - took well over a week but I guess they just have procedures to follow and there was no issue with the actual exchange.

In my old age I have less patience to deal with faff, unnecessary faff, especially when it can be avoided. I just don't want to get it and then having to deal with customer service to rectify the situation, a situation they engineered. As I have experienced it twice personally already, I would have to be an even bigger fool than I already am after the 2 previous incidents to go through that that again. Fool me once and all that.

As such, I avoid MPB if at all possible, I would rather (and have), order blind from an unknown, never used seller from Japan than get it from MBP these days. I trust the listing on that more than MPB.

They are very low in my list of retailers to shop at. Until their description actually matches the photos, and by the posts here, it seems nothing has changed in almost a decade (I bought the XT-1 when the XT-2 just came out), I will continue to avoid them.

I decide on an X100F this morning, trading in my X-T100... Looking at what MPB had available, I went for one they stated as being in good condition as it looked in better condition than the cameras they stated as being in excellent condition, saving myself £100.

It doesn't include original packaging which I don't care about and it's missing the front decorative ring on the lens but looking on ebay, they can be picked up for around £10, so I'm still £90 better off.

That decorative ring is a filter adaptor. If you want to weather seal the camera, you will need it.

Ah okay, so that's what the adapter lenses attach to then?

It looks like it wasn't there in the photos, so I'll see what turns up and order one if need be.

Never had one of those wide angle or tele lens for the X100 so I don't know.

The official Fuji adaptor ring is about £30 new, you can use a 3rd party one. Basically, without the adaptor, the thread is "backwards". You can screw on a Uv filter backwards onto the front without the adaptor but it blocks the lens when focusing (moving in and out).

The decorative ring is what you take off to fit the filter adapter.

When mistakes happen, but they turn good in the end. On the image below the flash failed to fire, so the original raw was almost totally black, with just the light from the candles showing. Processed in LR, the end result came out pretty well, capturing the essence of the moment.
