The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I'm not sure you guys in here know Millie like the Sony guys do!!

She had an abscess come up about a month ago and the whole side of her face was swollen. Vets, painkiller & antibiotics and it quickly went..... It was under one of her [fairly rotten] back upper teeth. About a week later..... came back again. Another vet visit, longer dose of tablets and pre-booked in for an operation. They were on about cleaning her teeth properly before but didn't want to put her under anesthetic because she is 16 and has a stage 4 heart murmur and they were worried she wouldn't survive it. Anyway, the operation was on the 10th because really we had no choice about having it done as she couldn't go on with the abscess as it had partly burst through onto her cheek etc..... What a long day that was. Just waiting for the phone call! Anyway, aside from a couple of days getting over the effects of the anesthetic and an upset stomach she then soon got back to eating properly etc by the weekend. She's had a few check up visits since & there was no infection & the stitches etc are healing well. They removed about 5 or 6 teeth in the end [two back ones with the stitches] and cleaned the remaining ones.

I'm enjoying the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 as a focal length/portrait lens attached to my elderly X-E1 & X-Pro1 bodies......but are there any other longer fixed portrait lenses I could be looking at without spending a fortune on the likes of the Fuji XF200/2 or the XF500/5.6....?

Any advice/experience welcome.

I used to use my Fuji 90 f2 quite often, but the problem, cured with a Zeiss Softar I, is that you can't use it for a portrait of a female over the age of 16. :)

Andrew (lightshipman),

Many thanks for your reply. Looking at your gear list, are you talking about the 16-80 or the 16-50, because the guys in LCE mentioned the new 16-50 to me too. But the extra range of the 16-80 is what attracts me.

Pete.

Anyone changed from the 16mm f1.4 to the 18mm f1.4?

Just treated myself to the latest 56 f1.2 and 18mm f1.4 and currently trying to make my mind up if i keep both or get rid of the 16mm,doesnt actually seem to be much difference in field of view to be fair but the A/F is certainly more snappy and slightly sharper around the edges wide open.

Following images 56mm, 16mm, 18mm, 16mm.

Fuji X-T30/XF10-24

Two very nice landscape/seascape style captures John, liking both of these pic's very much.

Anyone own/shoot with the XF16/1.4 glass…?
I’ve never owned one but currently spotted one for sale and giving it thought…(?)

I appreciate it’s a weather sealed lens, and is a 24mm focal length etc…

Any thoughts/experience/knowledge appreciated……any photos to share taken with this lens would be great.

Cheers:
Peter

I’ve never used it, but searching on Flickr for “Fuji XF 16mm F1.4” (without the quotes) returns some cracking shots. Looks very sharp, from what I can tell by looking at thumbnails on my iPad.

I had one when they first came out, crazy sharp ridiculously close focussing but a big lens. I was using X-Pro1s at the time and favoured the 14mm so let it go.

Peter, it’s an excellent piece of glass - there is an XF16mm album on my Flickr

Has anyone used their Fuji cameras as a webcam?

I've tried it out. Installed "Fuji X Webcam" and tested it with teams. It's pretty simple. Once the software is installed then programs just see it as any other webcam - While the software allows you to apply film simulations, exposure comp, white balance etc.

I didn't stick with it because of limited space on my work desk.

Just purchased the 18mm f1.4 to replace my 16mm f1.4 to use with an XT-5 due to the increased resolution and to be fair there isn't a great lot of difference to the point i probably didn't need to get the 18mm.
Close focus and colour contrast on it is insane to be fair but it is a fair old lump.

Need to get up in the loft and find the box etc for the 16mm and as soon as i work out a price will be adding it to the sales section. (Now Listed)

all of these with the 16mm on the XT-5

Which camera did you use try it with?

The Shard from under Millennium Bridge, 3 shot HDR.

Been after this shot for a while, third time lucky it seems!

That's a very nice London lowlight scenic style capture Adam, with an unusual angle of view and nicely presented.

Thanks, I've revisited twice as the first couple of attempts just didn't look right when I got the photos into Lightroom!

Ah, my local high street ;)
Yes, I know you're local from some of the shots you've posted on here before. I was going to drop you a DM and invite you actually, but then I wondered if that might be a bit weird, so I didn't. We meet up on the last Saturday of every month though and it's usually somewhere pretty local. Would be great to meet you (and have another Fuji shooter in the bunch) :)

Appreciate you thinking of me - is it a camera club or TPers?

Out in the foggy woodland these past few days. Shot this scene with my X-Pro1 & 35mm f2 and my Z7ii & 24-120 lens. Preferred the X-Pro1 image. :ROFLMAO:

When will I ever learn.

Very nice. I was out in the foggy woodland the other day which is something I used to do very often! I was with the A7Riii though! But, my current plan is to go out for the day Friday and just take the X100f and Voigtlander Bessa Folder and leave all the Sony kit at home! I often go out with just the X100f for street, dog walks, general days out etc but I've never taken just the X100f for dedicated sunrise or coastal etc

Last Saturday I decided to leave the camera at home when I took the dog out.
Gutted I had left it at home, the fog would have made a few good pictures

My lad wanted to take some photos of the Lego models that he got for Christmas, so I set up a background for him, and grabbed Wall-E, to show him how to over expose to get the background white, then let him loose with my X-T2.

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out, considering that it took me about 30s to set up, including explaining what I had done. I haven't seen how his photos have come out yet, but hopefully he has managed to replicate this.
