The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

When you think about it you are getting always updated, powerful software (LR and PS) for just £9 a month, or whatever it is, and that is a good deal by itself, but then when you add Portfolio (which would be another £5-10 a month to host a website) plus access to adobe fonts - it is something I really don’t mind paying for. I think a lot of people begrudge paying a subscription as a matter of principle without actually stopping to consider what you are actually getting for approx 32 pence a day and will quite happily spunk hundreds of pounds on lenses they barely use or that they buy and then sell losing more than the annual cost of the subscription in depreciation.

I’m with you; I also find that its really handy having Lightroom available on almost all of my devices (PC, tablet and mobile) - you never know when you might want to do a quick bit of post processing!

I really like Affinity Photo (on the iPad anyway) especially as it doesn’t feel like iPad Photoshop is quite there yet; always fancied trying Capture One but Fuji stuff seems ok in Adobe now and I really like doing most of my editing on tablet now; just makes me more likely to actually do it!

Did you get the USB lead for transferring images from camera to PC with the new X-T3? coz I didn't
Also could you advise where and what type to buy - advice on decent card reader would be welcome also - thanks

You’re right. I think it’s a fair price for what you get.

I edited a Fuji snap with LR today. First one I‘ve edited for months. It felt like putting on a pair of old, comfy shoes - just so easy to use.

Today is a sitting in day waiting on DPD to deliver a parcel so thought I would mess about with the camera.

Funko Bandit made the cut with the background light being created by torch light passed through a laundry basket lid.......yes you read that correct!

That background really works, love it - can't say I would've guessed

I see a few of you photograph motor sport - I’m going to Thruxton this week to photograph my son and husband on an experience day. Any words of wisdom and suitable settings?

Learn to pan, you'll need a surprisingly low shutter speed 1/60 -1/125, so may need a 2/3 stop ND filter to control light, put camera in burst mode and track the vehicle - I used zone focus/tracking

What Mr P said is dead right, but if it's your first time I'd suggest starting with a slightly higher shutter speed, get a few pics in the bag (although they won't have the same sense of movement) then work your way down using the same technique. Personally I favour single point and continuous focus, but that probably just habit from old DSLR days.

Awesome thank you, I’ll try both single and zone focus and attempt panning (have never perfected this!!), unfortunately don’t have a ND but do have a polariser on the 55-200 so will try that.
High burst or will low burst be ok?
So would this work - 1/60-125, f5.6, auto ISO?

Feeling the pressure though, I think I’d rather be driving the cars, that sounds so much more fun!

I'd expect the aperture to be something like F11/16/F22 depending on how bright the day is - and if it was me I'd set the ISO to 200, and open up the aperture if I'm short of light.

And if you can take some near head on shots, then you could just freeze the motion with a fast shutter speed, at least that way you will get some images with them at the wheel.

Not seen a horse with blue eyes... wasnt sure about colour or B&W

WHat a beautiful animal! I'm a sucker for B&W in general but I actually prefer the colour version here, it's nice and subtle, really suits the image. Adds a little more depth to the hedge in the fore. Only thing is I might try tone down the yellow/green reflections on the horse, adjustment brush to desaturate a little perhaps?

100% agreed mate, was sloppy, dinner was ready, did a quick fix in PS to get rid of the algaeish reflection :D

That really helps, I wouldn't have thought to have this sort of aperture. Maybe I need to practice on some passing cars beforehand (maybe not locally as may look a little strange...)

Do any of your family have bikes? You could always practice your panning with that, just to get into it :)

Just for a bit of fun...

... I had a try at ICM on the beach last Xmas. :)

I've installed PS and LR on my iPad this morning and needed an image to muck about with so dredged the archives and found this one. Maybe I'm hungover but I quite like it and think it's quite peaceful to look at. My wife want's me to print it for the wall, (she must have even less taste than me. :p ) Happy for people to tell me it's rubbish if that's how they see it! :p

Very nice Fujigraph Jason, nice to see something a bit different, works for me very well.
