The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

but when will the spending stop!?!!!!

Never, of course.

Same here, I converted to Fuji a month or two ago, so far I have a body and 4 lenses.

I think we all know the answer.

Just when you think you have the perfect set up they'll invent/release something else we want but don't actually need.

I dread to think what my collection would be like if I had a never ending supply of camera cash.

What's the general feeling about the 1.4x TC (with the 100-400). Is there any noticable loss in image quality? Or, apart from losing a stop, is it all good?

Thanks

Superb..... One of the best TC's I've ever had.

Same set up at 452mm, 1600 ISO.

Just be aware that at full length you'll be at f8, so you do need some light...

Long lens lust is occurring.

Tell me about it ;)
But fortunately I still have a few working brain cells, and hardly used my old tamron whatever - 600, so although it`s a want, I`ll hold out (or at least try to) ;)
Interested as to what the 70-300 turns out like though.

Id use a long lens for around 100 shots then it wouldnt be useful anymore. Like the idea though.

That`s pretty much the same as me. I like the idea, but would just get bored, and it would sit gathering dust. Unless of course the good old lotto pays up ;)

You'd then own them and they would still sit there gathering dust......I'm the same I like to shoot closer to the action, but as I've got older I shoot less wide, in a few years time I'll only beed a 35mm or 50mm equivalent lens :ROFLMAO:

I have to admit that my 100-400 has been stuck on one of my T2 bodies and hasn't seen the light of day in a few weeks. That said, I wouldn't give it up, I love shooting wildlife too much.

It's that old age equation. The number of cameras/lenses I need equals the number I have now, plus one.... :ROFLMAO:

I know that feeling, mate. I`ve whittled mine down to just 23,56,16-55 and 80mm`s now :)

I really wish I liked shooting wildlife; and for me motorsports can be the same. You get home, and sift through what looks like 100`s of variations of the same shot ...

Still whittling here ....... currently I have 16mm F1.4, 23mm F1.4, Zeiss 32mm, 90mm F2, 18-55mm and 55-200mm, my wife has the 23mm F2 and pinches the last two regularly, I tend to only use the first 3 regularly but more often than not the camera I pick up is the X100F and put the WCL in my pocket!

Trouble is everytime I shoot with the primes, I realise why I still have them! Could quite happily part with the zooms though.

I agree re the motorsport thing, when I used to go a lot I spent more time taking pictures than enjoying the sport itself.

V23/33/85 here. Finding it refreshing to get out with gear that weighs nothing (in comparison) and my human stuff is turning out great. The XT3 is a big step up in terms of AF over the H1 and previous models, also impressive video. I can still see deficiencies with Fuji in LR PP and foliage but nothing lacking otherwise. The colours/skintones are still top notch.

Haha at least you can share ;)
16-55 for me is convient, and I really like it, But saying that, I have a trip out to London tomorrow (missing urbanism), and haven`t been since lockdown kicked off, but thinking I`ll just take the 23, and see what I can muster up.

I totally agree with the weight factor. D810 and sigma35 was a lump n a half lol I could never be without a macro of some sort though. I think I`m better at static stuff, but just too lazy to set up a tripod ;)

Just the 23mm and you'll be fine, I'm off to Liverpool tomorrow, and despite the X-H1 being right next to me on my desk now, I know I'll be taking the X100F :ROFLMAO:

Don't try an X-T4 then, its AF is even nippier.........................:exit:

How very dare you, but I know to skip at least 2 gens of Fuji to see any noticeable difference in AF. ;)

Probably wise, and there is so much difference in the AF performance of the available lenses, as an older body with a fast focusing lens can be a lot faster than a newer body with a pedestrian lens.

Very true, I wish theyd update the older fast stuff with better motors. The Vs are so fast, why Fuji cant update to a mk2 and not change the optics is a little confusing. Theyve added all the high end video stuff, camera CAF is up to speed... just those old motors. Hybrids are taking over, theyve kind of gotten the message, but those old lenses need updating, they can keep the f2 stuff.

It leaves room for a film camera in the bag.......................Fuji(film) of course!

I've still got my EOS620, over 30 years old now. I really need to get a half decent, but not expensive prime to put on it and load it with some FP4....

Another "Excellent" Fujigraph Jason, liking everything about it.

George.
Not really sure what to say about that other than wow! Keep them coming :)
Blimey! That's a bit special. Fantastic capture Jason.

Simon.

Thanks for the kind words. Conditions like I was lucky enough to get that morning make all the unrewarded early starts worthwhile. Saying that, standing on a hill or mountain in the early morning, with the place to yourself, is never a disappointment, photos or not. :)

That's lovely. Do you use any filters on the lens, polariser etc.?

Cheers. Just a grad, 3 stop iirc, on the sky.

I think I’m binning Capture One at the end of the month. My year‘s sub is due to renew and I don’t think I need both Adobe and CO. I had a good mess around with Lightroom today and it seems a lot better with Fooj than it used to be and I much prefer it as a piece of software to use. I also don’t want a bit of software restricted to just Fuji RAWS.

That surprises me to be honest. I’ve been with Capture one for a similar length of time (although to be fair I went for the full version rather than be limited to Fuji) and I can’t imagine going back to Lightroom even though I need affinity as a photoshop replacement to go with it. For me it’s a much more intuitive piece of software (although I’ll admit I’m odd and prefer Sony’s menu layout to anything else as well) :)

I haven't even bothered installing C1 on the new machine, just Adobe as it such a good bit of software. With C1 you can't blend multiple exposures, or create panoramas, both of which I do quite often. Plus, with the texture tool and the enhanced mode for single files, it's just as good with Fuji files compared to anything else I've used.

And, as you say, it doesn't limit you to just Fuji files, I can go back and edit my old Canon & Olympus files if I feel like it.

Never, of course.

I am just trying to tidy my photography stuff up, I must have thousands of pounds worth of stuff i've never used
Only switched back to Fuji a few weeks ago and I already have 4 full bags of kit for varying days out. It is being used though, unlike my Canon kit

It's actually insane. Don't ever tell her but my wife is (always) right, I can only use one at a time.

The answer is V shaped :rolleyes:
No gas and no hassle/decision about what to take

When you think about it you are getting always updated, powerful software (LR and PS) for just £9 a month, or whatever it is, and that is a good deal by itself, but then when you add Portfolio (which would be another £5-10 a month to host a website) plus access to adobe fonts - it is something I really don’t mind paying for. I think a lot of people begrudge paying a subscription as a matter of principle without actually stopping to consider what you are actually getting for approx 32 pence a day and will quite happily spunk hundreds of pounds on lenses they barely use or that they buy and then sell losing more than the annual cost of the subscription in depreciation.
