weekly Posiview's 2012 ....week 52 Busy added...finished!

I really like this take on FLOW! It's a great idea and one that I wouldn't have thought of - mainly because I have absolutely no idea how it's done!! :bang:

Cheers

PS If it's not too technical, maybe a pointer or two?

Hi Andy - great idea, well executed.

I think that the colour works well because it adds a little pop to the shot and whilst the red of the central res is v. bright it has a lovely diagonal following the line of the car. Also the colours seem to have that old 50's colour postcard feel to them which marries with the classic car

Up - Great shot. Good timing & well lit.

Duo - The last edit is the best in my opinion. Love the B&W.

Flow - Great capture. I like this.

The square crop of the b+w feet for me Andy, quite like it. The crop gives it a great impact.

Flow, really liking this idea, nice simple composition, a Renault Figaro I believe. The 1st version is much better, it suits the cars very well.

Your fountains abbey shot looks goo too, looks like it's worth a visit.

Cheers, Michael.

I'm all about colour this week so I prefer no.2 - good idea too, haven't seen this done before! So lucky to get just one car on a motorway  - or did you have to clone some out? well done chap

Cloned out one big lorry :naughty:

Hi ya

something else I've gotta have a go at...multiplicity :)

Strange not seeing any other vehicles on the road....as per Summer...lucky or cloning ? I'm prefering the B&W version , the colors seem a little Tilt shift strong in #1 . 1# makes me think of what it must have been like when motorways 1st opened & the has a period type look to it in mono ...like it mister

Maybe the angle you shot at ...the lamposts look straight but the roof seems to be listinig right hand down a little....I'm guessing the road is going down hill ?

Small clone.

Road is on a slight incline.

Nice idea well executed although it does seem to be sloping and there is the back end of a car on the bridge i noticed ;)

Thanks, damn car!

Ooo I like that Andy !!!!

Amazing no other cars, I prefer the 1st shot my self, the central reservation stands out too much for me in the colour.

Thanks

Thanks, here's a decent video that explains how it's done clicky linky

Love the car shot Andy.
I was thinking how lucky you were to get all those cars on route to a show or something when I saw it on flickr.
But then I read how you did!

LOL...should have pretended to have sat there all day...waiting!

Thanks, I'm undecided but inclined to the B&W.

Thanks for the comments.

Cheers all.

Might post another one...I never was one to quit while I was ahead :bonk:

I've ummed and arred about posting this one, but I've decided I liked it.

I like the flow of the wall, the flow of the water and especially the flow of the green moss and the shape it makes on the wall; and I also like the symmetry of the photograph. The lower parts of the moss look OOF but having zoomed in they are sharp.

Anyway, you know what they say about self praise :D

Cheers all.

this says seaside to me better than anything - it's the kind of thing I'm always snapping but no-one appreciates it  - now you have to though :) - love this one (can you tell?)

I'd go with that too mate !!!

Agree it is a good flowing curve... and that green moss is very bizarre but very interesting, large with black background helps show the good detail - very nice photo

Cheers, I am trying to develop my eye for fine art type photography :)

Hi Andy
I haven't been around TP lately (well not actively posting) I have been popping in from time to time but haven't commented in a while.

Your last version of duo, the square crop gets my vote, it is a more balanced image once you'd lost the top part.

Flow, again the B&W gets my vote. It suits the subject better, the space around the car(s) really lends itself to the days of motoring gone by when there would have been few vehicles on the road. Clever thinking on that, I like your creative thought processes.

#2 for flow works well too. Its amazing what photographs are around us if we take time to look. I like the vibrant green colours in here and the tones of the sea wall. Can't fault the composition either, the sweeping curve of the wall leads the viewers eye in and through the scene. Good work

Thanks, Iain, 'tis true that there's beauty all aroud...we just need to look and see them

Love the black and white car shot !

Thanks, Vince

Hi Andy,

Up - The boots are interesting because it's a different take on the theme. As someone else mentioned, perhaps it is a tad dark. I prefer the ballon photo though (b&w), because it's got a more clear connection to the theme.

Duo - For me it's got to be the feet (but then I did go for a similar type thing myself). Both colour and monochrome versions work for me.

Flow - I think the wall makes for a better picture. As you mention, there is a kind of symmetry to it. I like the moss and the PoV. I would have been tempted to crop out a small bit on the left.

Thank for the comments. Sometimes it's the photographs that aren't over prepared that turn out better. )

I like that Andy, the green algae certainly makes the picture, it wouldn't have worked anywhere near as well without it.

Cheers, Michael, I agree about the green and its what caught my eye.

I like it better than the cars the wall certainly has a flow to it, nicely spotted

Cheers, Allan, the car photograph took quite a while to photograph and even longer to process, and the seaside flow took little time at all, but like you, I do prefer the seaside photograph...

Cheers.

After a few attempts at other ideas I had that I wasn't happy with, I had a mooch through Flickr and 500px or inspiration....I'd love to take credit for this idea, but it's adapted from a photograph I saw on 500px...

Really appealed to me and I discovered that making matchstick men isn't as easy is I thought :bonk: 2 variations.

Cheers all and just off to check the other Friendship submissions

Last one is the better one I agree but not really sure I like the pic, credit for doing something different.

I also would go for the final edit, original idea and well executed but I can't help but think it looks like one is sat on the naughty chair and is being told off by the other (sorry!):)

Cheers, Neil. Though about lighting it but fatigue may have resulted in me set redirect to the living room :)

Sarah, my initial reaction was, 'Hmmm, can't see what Sarah means' but after a review of see what you're saying. Tried another attempt but matches kept snapping.. Ggrrrrrr. Just got some Costa stirrers for another go, maybe ;-)

Thanks all.

Now, onto week 40 and SOOC, :-)

I have to agree with Sarah, I think the match head bent forward is making it look like a naughty boy on the naughty step - however, I love the idea and the image. I think I prefer no. 3

well done for not slicing off your fingers whilst making this (assuming you sliced the matches with a very sharp knife)

I think you could make quite a series with these lil fellas. In my day we used to make dolls out of wooden pegs - gives me an idea :p

but yes, I like your images :)

Thanks, one thing that has impeded me, moan alert, is that often I can't start on with an idea until Jackie and Isabelle have gone to bed and by that time I'm often pooped! I do take your point and it's appreciated.

Fingers are all there but it was an interesting 20 minutes while I sliced the matches.

Great idea for friendship.

Cheers, bud. Must have a check and make sure I've commented on your thread!

Hi ya

different take on the theme & works well .Prefer the last edit for pp...seems to work better but can't pin point why  I can sya that #1 appears to flat & #2 the lighting is too harsh...for me anyway. As for crit.....it may just be how it's cropped but compared to #1 the last image seems slightly, very slightly on the squiff to the left ?

Andy,

Friendship - Neat idea. I prefer the processing of #4, but the longer shadows of #2. I didn't see naughty chair until it was pointed out.

Hi Andy, I've missed a few again!

I like your traffic flow with the car very clever.

That wall is amazing though, love the detail. The moss is crazy too! If I was being really picky I'd crop a little off the top so there's the same gap from the top and bottom line of bricks to the top and bottom of the wall, if that makes sense?

Friendship, wow they look fiddly! Well done for the patience that must have taken!
I like the close crop in the second one but the lighting and shadows in the last one. The front of the matchbox looks a little bright in the close crop!

Frienship, a creative take on the theme Andy. Your final version gets my vote
Must have been quite fiddly cutting the matches for this, I might have been tempted to give the sitting one arms too. Although how many digits you would have at the end of it is debatable
I feel there is more to be explored with these little characters. Technically good too, nothing to crit there so  from me, over and out ;)

The Strangers once sang, 'There's always the sun', not in Leeds there isn't!

Was hoping for a nice sunlit autumnal Change photograph, but looks like it ain't happening.

I have a backup on a flickr, SOOC and processed, but am hoping for a nice colourful sunset during the week.

Cheers all and don't forget the end of meet thread :)
