weekly Posiview's 2012 ....week 52 Busy added...finished!

Hi Andy

Soft reshoot - like the one without the texture but I am not sure about the composition. My take would be that the swirl in the centre is the focal point and yet I keep looking at the front petal as it is so large and I don't want to do that as it is oof.

Really good idea and the colours themselves do enough to elicit the theme.

Now thats definately Soft Andy , looks beautiful :clap:

Hi Andy, I didn't actually pick up the texture detail when viewing on my phone. I like it a bit, but I prefer it without, lovely soft colours.

I still like the texture but seeing the original (which is beautiful by the way) without it I think it's too dark with the texture added! A softer, lighter texture would really suit that shot, there are some lovely examples here.*

Definitely soft now - much better!

Thanks all and thanks for the link Marsha, so really nice photographs in portfolio 3.

Never realised how hard it was to photograph a flower :bonk:

Cheers, all.

I agree the reprocessed image of the flower is better for the theme SOFT there is nowt wrong with the other 2 just the theme doesn't quite fit

I struggled with the pp'ing as I felt the texture didn't help the shot. The reshoot of the reshoot is miles better i have to say.

Had a few thoughts about my Up, but a few of my ideas have been posted by others...great minds think alike.

Hope to post my Up tonight.

Cheers all and I'll catch up with yours soonest.

Hi Andy :)

Body - The colour version for me, and I prefer the full image rather than the crop, as it shows the wilting to greater effect :)

Liquid - Love that on a black background, nice splashes of colour, nice movement in the water and the foreground rocks finish it off nicely

Re-shoot - Soft - For me the first one, to me it looks much softer, whilst 2 is a nice effect which I like, I feel it adds too much texture for a 'soft' image

Well, all, my first Up attempt failed, O say fail, it was quite good but didn't really convey Up.

Hope to grab the family for another Up Friday evening :D

Cheers.

Well, decided to review my Up that I did last night and have to say, it's grown on me.

Light painted boots with laces Up.

Posted just in case I can't get out with family tomorrow night.

Cheers.

Week 37 Up by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

OK, so zilch on my wonderful boots...:D

Here's one of my original ideas.

Composition is almost what I was after but the blooming wind didn't play, poor Isabelle was getting really bored, as was Jackie while holding the flash....Didn't help when I said, "Come one, this is family time!".

Anyway, here's colour and B&W.

Cheers.

Week 37 Up 2 b&w by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

Hi Andy

UP - like the shot of the boots - didn't get the link without the explanation, but then it was clear. Not sure if just a bit dark for my taste but that does suit the comp of the shot

Up #2/#3 is good shot on theme with the balloon going up and Isabelle jumping up. Good balance of elements of sky, ground, bodies . I prefer the b+w because it has more drama and the bodies are differentiated from the b/g in a dramatic way. Good sky in b&w which is ordinary in the colour version

Hi Matey

I quite like your Boots....nice n sharp just a little dark on my screen , maybe a bit more light on the laces

Up....different take on the theme for sure & works well.....B&W for me - sky is one of those weird ones in color & Isabelles skin looks a little pinky ,the B&W shows better contrast between the tree's & grass as well

By "border patrol" I thought you meant you were trying to reduce the amount of borders.....obviously not

I like your boots image for up Andy, it does fit the theme with a little explanation (which i think is perfectly acceptable).
Overall it works, its good to see you trying different things most weeks, I admire your enthusiasm.
To the image, I think a little more light is required at the top of the boots, they just blend a little into the background. Thats a very minor crit, well ok its nit picking  but your skill level is high so thats what its came down to ;)
On the boots themselves, they remind me of ones that a clown would wear  I don't remember you wearing a spinning bow tie, having a big red nose and crazy hair on the Northumbria meet

I prefer the B&W version of your second take on the theme. It gives better separation of the elements of the photograph. Jackie and Isabelle are real stars when it comes to your photography big  for them.

Hi Andy

Up 1, I like the concept and the shot it's just a tad too dark for me!

Up 2, I agree that there's more detail in the B&W version, but I do like the splash of blue on the balloon in the colour shot! The shot does say up, but is it just a bit too similar in content to your flight shot:thinking:

Up #1, yeah, I really must calibrate my laptop as I appear to underexpose quite a lot.

Up #2 and #3, B&W for me to.

Cheers.

Up #1 appears a calibration is needed. No pinkyness on mine so a calibration really is needed. I'd like to have been able to take more time but, as above, Isabelle wanted to get onto the swings :D

Boots are a little dark as others have stated...message to self...calibrate. I used a wide angle hence the clown shoe shape. Should have used another lens, maybe. Bit more light, I'd agree.

Up #2 and 3, separation is what it's about here and this is why B&W is for me.

Up #1...as above...:bonk:

I do like the blue, but it was much bluer in reality.

Well spotted for #2 and #3 and flight, thought no-one would notice.

Thanks all.

"I'm going to Temple Newam for an hour, Jackie, to take a few photographs", "I'll cook dinner when you get back then, Andy!".

3 hours later, I arrived back home :bat:

Several ideas for duo: #1, path diverging...wasn't happening, just could not get a decent composition. #2, duo of black and white calves, wasn't working, could not get a decent separation between the calves and the BG. #3, duo of dead, brown, leaves amongst lushous green leaves....found some but none that felt right and finally, the one I really went there for....duo of benches silhouetted against a red sunset: benches..check...sunset...check....all set...NO. Gap between the benches was too wide so another no-goer.

Not a total loss....I spent 3 hours with my camera and had a great sunset.

Anyway, been to Fountains Abbey, and just uploading photographs. 3 potentials to view, so hear's hoping....:help:

Cheers.

Nice shot of the boots Andy, I think I would to see just a tad more space around the top and left hand side of them.

The b+w image of Isabelle and the balloon, love the mood it has created and I like the lighting on the balloon

How about combing the B&W With a splash of SC? But desaturated so it's only hint of colour, not in your face blue:thinking:

Nothing gets past us ;)

Bang on theme as ever.....slightly suspect pose I must say

Trying real hard to crit ...bit more room at the top maybe ? Lighting looks a tad ( just a tad) bright on the models though that maybe cos the BG is dark ? But then again it does make the plinth & models stand out
Nice one matey

ps.....HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE 52'S END OF PROJECT MEET.....:D

First of all the boots I like the exposure but they are too far to the left ;)

"with laces up" thats not an expression i have heard before

B+w version of the ballon UP is better but the blue is really nice in the other one so slightly torn between them

DUO again nice pic and nicely placed the figures really stand out against the dark bg

Cheers...they are actually wrestling.....I got in closer...and realised I should move further away....:$

If I recall correctly the laces was an army expression.

Yep good lighting, really interesting monument that does stand out perfectly... what is it ??

Cheers, it's 2 guys wrestling...honest :D

ha ha what a duo! those darn Greeks liked to pose eh? I agree with Lynne about a teeny bit more room at the top, otherwise it looks fine to me

Yeah sure it is

Well, this is one I wanted to do in some form and I managed to 'convince' Isabelle to model for me :bat:

It's not as good as I wanted, really wanted to use my 11-16 @ 11 but Isabelle started to squirm like a worm so I cracked on with the lens I had on.

Colour and B&W; used silver efex pro 2 to convert to B&W and used the Toning filter on selenium. Quite liked it.

Both ISO 2,000 which is much higher than I usually use.

Cheers all.

Week 38 Duo 5 by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

Week 38 Duo 4 by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

DON'T FORGET THE TP52 END OF PROJECT MEET :D

Up – I like the boots shot. I’m assuming you’ve add the right hand side as I can see part of the join but throwing the subject over to the left works nicely.

Duo – Not sure about the NSFW nature of your first shot  but I prefer the feet shot and definitely works to do the B&W approach.

uh oh she doesn't look happy - does she know you've put her here  lovely shot tho - prefer the B&W one but both are good

Hey Andy

Well convinced... a nice shot that, the dof seems more effective in the B&W, nice conversion you have done !!!! and a good unusual take :)

Cheers. Looking forward to week 38...:D

Cheers, Peter, hell's teeth...you've got good eyesight. I did the PP and I can hardly see the join!

She wasn't but she needs to get used to it :bat:

Cheers all and keep togging

Duo #1 - decent shot but agree with comments about crop at top. B+W works well leading to the statues standing out from the b/g

#2 - clever original idea. B+W is better as the dof and focus better defined and the eye is drawn straight to the feet/subject rather than being overwhelmed by the peachy colour tone.

Thinking that it might work better as a square crop losing the wallpaper border above the head.

Thanks, Alan, I never noticed how close it was at the top of Duo 3. I was going to edit, but I rather liked your suggestion to square Duo 5, and i have to say I like it; really emphasises the feet more. Cheers.

Week 38 Duo 6 by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

Had several ideas but one sprung to mind. Got to the locations and didn't realise how high the fence was so idea out of the window :bonk:

Hoped over a fence and sat on a large roundabout over the motorway.

Here's 2 variations. I saw this classic car and had my camera set to rapid fire.

I haven't done multiplicity for a while.

I have other ideas and time permitting I'll be out there. As usual, best viewed via Flickr with black background

Cheers all.

Week 39 flow 2 by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

Week 39 Flow 1 by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

The square crop of the b+w feet for me Andy, quite like it. The crop gives it a great impact.

Flow, really liking this idea, nice simple composition, a Renault Figaro I believe. The 1st version is much better, it suits the cars very well.

Your fountains abbey shot looks goo too, looks like it's worth a visit.

I'm all about colour this week so I prefer no.2 - good idea too, haven't seen this done before! So lucky to get just one car on a motorway  - or did you have to clone some out? well done chap

Hi ya

something else I've gotta have a go at...multiplicity :)

Strange not seeing any other vehicles on the road....as per Summer...lucky or cloning ? I'm prefering the B&W version , the colors seem a little Tilt shift strong in #1 . 1# makes me think of what it must have been like when motorways 1st opened & the has a period type look to it in mono ...like it mister
Maybe the angle you shot at ...the lamposts look straight but the roof seems to be listinig right hand down a little....I'm guessing the road is going down hill ?

Nice idea well executed although it does seem to be sloping and there is the back end of a car on the bridge i noticed ;)
