As my OM1 is new, I thought I’d see how workspace operates, and do the update to 1.4 - very straightforward, without any problems.
I’ve not used the camera yet, but will do so today (hopefully) - will report back later.
.... The Workspace (OM-W) interface has definitely improved since OMDS have taken up the baton. I never used to use it apart from for Firmware updates and saving settings but now, in 2023, I find it excellent for *culling previews, colour coding and retitling them as needed. It also offers you a useful amount of information about each image's camera settings, more so than any of the RAW editing apps. Info such as how many frames in each burst and where your focus point was placed etc.
*I used to use FastRawViewer FRV to preview and cull but OM-W is far more satisfying in every respect IMO.
However, I don't convert my RAW files in it and so Edit >
Move (important if avoiding OM-W conversion) from my external HD to a hierarchy of folders on my Mac for subsequent RAW editing in ON1 2023 (am no longer using Capture One).
Workspace may in fact be better at RAW conversion than I think it is but it is much more efficient for me to do everything, including noise reduction, in ON1.
But, although I haven't tried it yet, OM-W supports HiRes RAW files and can merge Focus Bracketed files (I am told).
Methinks you will not be disappointed by your new OM-1 and, in time, quite the contrary! I don't care what some people say or think about OM Systems, they really are stepping up a few gears and continuing the Olympus tradition of innovation.
