Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Thanks Robin, I am sure that my wife and bank account are less grateful!!
.... I am always pleased if I can help. Not only am I good at spending my own money, but I am also good at spending other people's money as well! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Oh dear. I have just found out the WEX London City branch is only a 5 minute walk from my company’s London office, which I happen to be at for 3 days this week
Oh dear oh dear, I popped in there in early December last year for the first time and I must of spent half an hour or more looking around.
Luckily I only come out with a peak design camera strap and a lens case.

Yeah. I was not impressed. Zero new Olympus kit that I could see and only 1 2nd lens. Plenty of other makes with complete tables of kit.
I will only pop back if I need something specific like a new bag

If I’m honest I found the staff to be a bit of a let down. Unless you wanted something related to mobile phone use, phone tripods etc they weren’t very helpful. The only person in there that was much help to me was the security guard, I purposely went in for a new camera strap and couldn’t find any others except the pd ones and asked him and he showed me the others but they were a bit thin and not padded so I went for peak design one.

.... My bet is that this used to be a *Camelot(?/similar name) shop and WEX took over that company and all its retail stores. But WEX have kept most of the staff and really just changed the name. I know this because I had several issues with Camelot in London and consequently had lengthy discussions with WEX including their senior management which they didn't speedily resolve, repeatedly making excuses that accounting infractures etc etc took time to sort out. After many months, not weeks, it was still not resolved.

* EDIT : Calumet

I used to regularly buy from WEX but will only deal with their Norwich head office and only if they have an item actually in stock. They have become too large a company to care in my opinion. It's a pity but this is not an uncommon occurrence when companies expand.

WEX let me down regarding my pre-order of the 150-400mm TC PRO so I bought one from Ffordes, a small family business in Scotland.

Thank you for the info. That certainly explains a lot.

.... Nice capture - Jeff the black fox captures the black rat! :D

Did you use Pro Capture for this?
No just sequential low . Works well enough .. not yet tried pro cap on this body

My E-M1ii is not coping with heat in Cambodia it seems. I keep getting black frames if I leave the camera on in 35 degrees C heat. I was in Angkor Wat when it was worst.

What is this word “heat“ of which you speak?

.... Does this mean you prefer the OM-1 to your Fuji camera?
Tough call Robin. I’ve been looking through previous action shots taken with the OM-1. I particularly like the 40-150 f2.8 Pro. And decided to buy another Oly setup. Still have my Fuji’s.
DXO PureRAW is also great for processing high ISO frames. Exceptionally good for noise reduction. When I had OM-1 previously it wasn’t supported. There are no bad cameras nowadays. And no perfect cameras either.

.... I can only report my own individual experiences of and disappointment in WEX and it doesn't mean that others will be disappointed. My experiences were not bad enough to prompt me to recommend others not to buy from them.

I look forward to seeing your results with the OM 90mm Macro - I have seen nothing but great results so far and shall buy one in due course.

went bunting hunting today , the high tide restricted its movements on the beach and it allowed me to get very close .. lots to plough through including close ups of a purple sandpiper . a very cold bright and satisfying day

So I sell my Sony gear to save weight and buy an EM1 MK2, battery grip and a 7-14 f2.8 Pro lens! (And a 12-40 Pro).

You couldn't make it up!

But I'm a happy chappie.

Been there, done that!

Could have been worse and got the 12-100
Yes, I'm in two minds about mine. On the one hand it's a good, useful lens. On the other hand, it's no lightweight.

I don't use mine much these days, but going to keep hold of it.
Got a dent in the body couple of years ago, only cosmetic, but it would affect the price.
Besides which it does come in handy at times and know I would regret selling it.

That's what I wanted Rich really, but these 2 came up at the right time.

Next is the 40-150 F2.8 PRO and then the 100-400.

So another 2 nice light lenses then. I tend to go much lighter these days Terry.

My usual kit is the 12-45/4 with 9/1.7 and at times 15/1.7.

The E-M5 III & 12-100mm are lighter than the RX10 IV I used to lug around all day so I consider that I'm ahead. The 12-100mm feels more of a lump as it doesn't collapse into the camera body like the 8.8-220mm on the RX10 IV.
