Smaller mirrors in the 40 & 7 d etc
But surely not in the D700, D3 or D4... or even the 1DX

Excellent; defrauding insurance companies and HM revenue and customs on just one page.
DXO analysis please lol waste of time numbers that are pretty meaningless

SD cards are not a robust format. I've had a very worn one (not mine) disintegrate in my fingers. I can't even flex a CF card, and after easily breaking one, I wouldn't try to flex a SD card.
SD cards may be ubiquitous, but they are not a Pro format. And before some smart a*se says that they use SD cards and they sell sooo many images, it is not Pro format because of the manufactured strength and the comparatively slow speed when compared with CF and XQD. OMHO of course.![]()
Because they are both so squeaky clean?
Perhaps when they can justify the ridiculous levels of duty on fuel, justify the ridiculous costs involved with back-to-back illegal wars (at a basic level, did either of the countries attack us first?), justify writing off ridiculous amounts of tax for large firms in return for generous treatment (illegal) yet crushing small businesses without a second thought, justify all the illegal activities they perform from false expenses to perverting the course of justice....
.......perhaps, just perhaps.....when we aren't getting pumped 24/7 during life and even after death.....maybe just then people will be more forthcoming with their declarations.
Until then, we'll just go on believing that everyone here is 100% honest.

Yea this is what I'm wondering. How would they know? When I go states this year and if I do get a mk3 that's going to get used mate and will be in my carry on backpack
So where are you going to get it repaired if it breaks down within warranty?
Either send it back to the country of origin...UPS insured for this will not be cheap.
Or suck it up and pay parts and labour like an out of warranty body in this country.
Oh dear. It's still dishonest and illegal and you may well, arguably justifiably, berate government and agencies for being so too. But surely if you do then tax dodgers and insurance fraudsters deserve the same contempt?
I wouldn't risk it until some time had passed and any teething problems had been sorted. Whilst my classic 5D hasn't had a single problem, I do feel that there is some growing trend of new cameras having problems which need firmware updates or recalls etc.
Speaking of warranties, I think in this day and age with such advanced manufacturing technologies we should really be getting longer warranties as to me it speaks volumes about the quality of a product - after all, were the manufacturer confident about their product's reliability then surely there'd be less risk with offering a longer warranty?....
I'll start thinking about a pair of these nearer the end of the year.....I'm totally sold on the specs, so if the hands-on reviews aren't horiffic, then I'm in!!
Only thing stopping me buying them straight away, is that price tag.....makes my eyes water!!!![]()
Autofocus was/is probably the number one issue with the old 5D series. The AF used in the 5D and 5D Mark II is a little old in terms of technology, but that has been addressed in the 5D Mark III. Using the camera in all sorts of lighting conditions, l can honestly say that it is on a completely different planet to the 5D Mark II and I’m using a pre-production model. In a word it is awesome. There are various AF modes you can use and you can fine tune the AI-Servo modes to suit your subject. However I was only interested in single point focus in one shot mode because that is how I shoot. To be honest - I couldn’t make it miss. Low light, backlight, low contrast - it made no odds. It didn’t matter what lens was on the camera either as they all worked, and nearly all of my lenses are calibrated to other camera bodies.
Hmm.
No twist and turn fold out LCD. (Which is REALLY useful when videoing and tracking, or for getting a different angle with stills. Especially handy with my bad back)!
No touch screen LCD (But it has a TOUCH BUTTON, oh wow, touching a button, thats novel Canon).
No powered zooms. (Powered ALWAYS smoother and repeatable compared to manual).
All the extra focus points and better operations only work with f4 or bigger. (Doesn't affect me as I've got lots of "L's", but lots of folk don't).
I've just checked the new price of a Lumix GH2. Suddenly seems very affordable compared to this. Thanks Canon.

nope, afterall its his camera and he's going back to canada .... right?![]()

someone who on a very rare occasion does not declare bringing a camera (for personal use) into the country.
Interesting, though I'm sure there's a fair bit of bias going on there.....what I'm really interested in is the side by side tests with the D800 by dpreview etc.....not long to wait if both models are out in a few weeks time!!![]()
Whilst I agree that there would be an element of bias, as he is a sponsored by Canon, what Dpreview or other websites like that put me off is they are basically pixel peeping and not real world usage. Whilst I appreciate how they are trying to make it as objective as possible. Dpreview shoots colour charts, still subjects, I rather get an opinion from someone who sees it more than a lab object.
The focus should have been bettered with the Mk2, but then that might have affected the sales of 1 series.
The points I've raised would only have bought Canon level with the competition. The lack of them means they are still lagging behind.
And if there all available in £200 cameras, why not a £3k one? These facilities are just as useful regardless of the cameras cost. But perhaps they would affect the perceived "Professional" value or the "Male jewelry" aspect?
(Just MHO).
(There again the cynic in me might say their just leaving something for the "New improved Mk4"!).
Like I said, makes the GH2 look inexpensive. Role on the reduced 2nd hand prices of Mk2's.

Because the features you are talking about are a gimmick that adds no advantage to a working professional and most of the stuff you listed gets in the way of taking a shot.
p.s. Lumix GH2 is not a competition ! LOL
And unless you are one of those people who don't have any or much existing gear in either system and can choose, yes, then I agree it is useful to see a side by side comparison. Otherwise it would be an interesting reading at most, pointless exercise to be truthful.
I can't pretend to have the deposit for a house in my camera bag, but it's not far off 5 figures either.....it'd cost me a fair bit to switch, but if I thought it was worth it, I'd still do it!!
I pondered moving over purely for the D700 for such a long time, but decided not to because I knew the mk3 was just around the corner.....6 months later and it's finally here, and I'm glad I held out!! The D800 looks tempting, but those mk3 specs are perfect in my eyes.....they've got it bang on!!

Erm all focus points work at f5.6, there are 40 + type focus points and 6 highly accurate x type points for lenses f2.8 and faster.
Seems like the 7D but upgraded and full frame, back looks basically identical.
