Still going strong there Matt. Well done. Mostly view your work on flickr.

Cheers Kev, I cannot believe that today's with mark the 50th POTD of the year, this year seems to be going very fast  I appreciate you taking the time to have a look

Day 50 - I lost count :bang:

It's not worth trying to count the stars  just admire there beauty  this was my first trip out trying out my new trigger on star trails unfortunately it clouded over shortly after we were set up :bonk: so it is only 25 x 45 second exposures @ f/3.5 ISO800

Lovely pic that Matt, must do one soon now I have my new remote.

Thanks Michael, I was hoping to do a long trail than this, this was only about 19 minutes as it was 25 x 45 second exposures, this was also for me to test my new programmable trigger

Hi Matt,

Just checking in, been a couple of weeks since I was here and still playing catch up with my own 52. Theres not enough hours in the day so i'm really impressed your sticking with this.As ever, some great images since my last visit. Your latest church photographs with the dramatic sky are outstanding ! keep up the good work

I could have done one last night, a cracking clear sky from the house, only to find my batteries were not charged enough :bonk: Which is a shame as it has not been that clear for ages.

That's a real shame :bonk: that is part of the reason that shoot gripped, it gives me double the battery power, plus I have 6 batteries now making up 3 battery pairs  and ensuring that I always have power, also you will find that in cold weather it will really drain batteries quickly compared to normal shooting

Thanks Nick, part of the inspiration that I've got to keep going is the great support I receive from TP members and on flickr  it drives you to continue, plus the fact that I can see a massive improvement to my photographic skills since I started out

Day 51 - Complete

In the last week I've finally completed my collection of coins to make up the full coat of arms :woot: it's taken me many months to get this set complete, I even had my local post mistress on the look out for me  but it's finally complete, I actually have a couple of other ideas for photo's involving these coins but for this evening I've kept it nice and simple...

Really like the star trails pic, Matt.
Good to see a variety of techniques, but that is of course what a 365 should be about IMO ;)

Thanks Ben, I'm trying to mix things up a little as I've been doing a lot of landscapes so far this year  which is a little different for me and I'm really enjoying it..

Matt

Good way to do it.
I'm weirdly missing my 365 days after a couple of months off. The 52 isn't really cutting it for me and given that it is freezing cold here, I haven't really had the camera out much in weeks :(

That's the thing that concerns me that when I finally finish that I'll get POTD withdrawals  I guess that we will see

Day 52 - Déjà Vu

I appreciate that this is very similar to yesterdays in fact the subject is the same  but in this instance I've focused purley on the fully shield on the pound coin with the complete shield blurred out in the background thanks to a extremely shallow DoF caused from using a fully manual macro set up :D

52/366 (417) by mwhcvt, on Flickr

Shot with a M42 135mm f/2.8 @ f/5.6 with a short manual macro tube in place

I promise that the coins have now gone away for a while

Hi Matt,

I think you have cracked the coins lol. I really like today's submission. Really good tones. I could imagine seeing a shot like that in one of the Sunday supplement magazines advertising the Royal Mint collectables !

Thanks Nick, I thought that today's worked well  and if the times or the mint need any advertising images I'll take them  I love coins, so long as I get a set of each coins that photograph

Matt

I like 52 - that works very well, great refelction

The last coin shot there is stunning! Absolutely amazing!

Thanks Nick, much appreciated :D it's amazing what a cheap set of macro tubes can allow you to achieve

Day 53 - Shoot me now

Biting the bullet well pellet anyway :D today was the kind of day that you really struggle to feel inspired to pick up the camera when doing a challenge like this it was wet, windy grey and dull all day long, the kind of day that you think shoot me now  I didn't go that far but thought it would make a interesting product shot to do a macro of a pair of .22 cal pellets for my air rifle ;)

Day 54 - Natures Delight

Well the world around us is starting to wake up again after it's winter slumbers, this is a real delight to me as it means that the options are really starting to come to life for our photography

As simple as this looks it was a really challenging photo to capture for me, so that makes it even more pleasurable :D It was really low down all alone on my lawn and I love the way that the sun is back lighting it so thought that it would make my POTD for today

This was taken with a M42 135/2.8 plus a medium macro extension tube so all fully manual

Nice to see your challenge going well as ever Matt.

The stuff you're producing is quality image after quality image :)

I'm especially loving the coin shots, and also day 50, that's a cracker!

Thanks Adam, I've just got in off a double header evening, something I would do occasionally last year in the challenge, getting in a photo in the very early morning to count as my POTD to give me a brake from the challenge today :D though I still have to edit it :bonk: I'm just going to sort yesterdays out now

I'm that your enjoying what your seeing in the project, there is a lot of work going into this year, I've never done so much landscapes as I've done this year and I'm really loving it

I'm pleased with Day 50 myself thought the met office let me down big time that evening :(

Matt

Day 55 (UPDATED IMAGE) - House Hunting :D.....

....yeah right, maybe when that record euro millions win comes in  but actually headed out this evening to have a play with some automotive photography, this is the first time that I've gone out with the sole intention of taking some photo's of a car

Some lovely shots since I was last here. The negative space on the air rifle shots is really striking.

Thanks Tony, I'm having a lot of fun so far this year and the standard of work that I'm producing is really helping me in push forwards :D but I need to re-edit that one from last night as it's far to dark, that's the last time I edit at 4am :bang:

Matt

Dunno, I like the darkness of it (but then I would say that, wouldn't I?). Have you considered just upping the contrast a touch?

 I wanted dark, but not that dark :D I may to an edit later on and post that separately making it more contrasty

I like that last one, nice feel to it.

Thanks Adam, I think that it's come out really well :D even if the fish eye has almost given it a effect making it look like the car and scene were taken at different times

It ain't no golf though  even if it is very rapid compared to my normal car

Day 56 - Night Time Madness

Okay I've got no idea how this one is going to be recieved but I really wanted to try it out as a editing style when I saw THIS photo and when in Stratford very early this morning after doing yesterdays photo on the outskirts I noticed the reflection of the RSC and though that it would give me an opportunity to have a play with this style :D

56/366 (421) by mwhcvt, on Flickr

I've deliberately made the colours a little more vivid that what they would naturally be because I wanted to give the overall effect a little more punch that it ordinarily would have

hmm saw the 3 on facebook, and must admit didn't recognise it as the RSC.... however my knowledge of S-o-A is strictly limited to the insides of bars and restaurants and the way back to the Falcon....(as well as HO in tiddington and Ryon Hill) .. and an encyclopaedic knowledge of the quickest way to a dual carriageway at any given time of day or night..........

I like it, but I prefer the one without the vertical banding of the lights..........

Thanks for taking a look  I agree that it makes for a nice scene with out the banding but decided to go for this version since it was something new for me to learn how to do it  but thanks for the honest critique it's appreciated mate, I like the sound of bars though for next time you up

Hiya Matt,

Glad to see you are progressing well with your 366. Sorry I've not been here as much lately, loads of things going on at the mo which I won't bore you with ;)

I have however spent the last half hour or so looking through your recent posts since my last visit and I have to say I am well impressed.

My faves have to be 51 & 52 (well done to you for finally getting round to capturing the shot .... especially as you helped me collect the final piece last year .... of which I am still very appreciative.)

My other favs are 37, 40 and 47, however all the photos are great, just these appeal most to me.

Keep up the good work and I will pop past when I can over the next few weeks to catch up.

Take care

Cheers

Thanks for making the time to call in a comment Dawn as you know it's always appreciated  I spent a long time waiting to collect the £2 of that set only to find out about 2 weeks ago that it didn't exist :bang:

I'm please that your enjoying what I'm producing still, I'm have to be honest it's nice to see the improvement that I've made in the last year or at least that I think I've made

Are you missing your 52 this year?

Matt :D

<snip> Are you missing your 52 this year?<snip>

Hiya Matt,

I am not missing the 52 as much as I thought I would at time of deciding not to do one again this year and TBH am glad I made that decision as there is so much going on in my personal life at the mo, and with my health .... I just wouldn't have the stamina to keep up.

However, there is always next year, and hopefully by then I will be in a better position to attempt another 52 and possibly even a 365.

In the meantime though, I will draw inspiration from my fellow TP friends and try to provide encouragement as and when I can.

Cheers

Dawn x
