I agree!!!

That is one of my favourite parts of Scotland! The road via Kilberry is lovely too looking out to Jura.

Battery all topped up ready for first ride of the year next week

I've fitted a lowering kit and can now get both feet on the floor. Feels much more secure.

Cheers Nod. That’s a good price! However mine is the Tiger 900.
 
Now the MiL is securely rehomed and we have almost got the house cleared, I can risk the roads again. Better check the tyre pressures and make sure there's some fuel in the tank!

Never mind. Not sure if you're subscribed to their mailing list but it's worth doing - they do some massive reductions on end of line stuff.
 
im sure i must have a few days of leave left this year so il hopefully spend it up in Scotland for a week in March, cant wait to see your pictures, if you havent been before...your in for a treat
 
Had my first ride out since my little fall. Fantastic cloud inversion between Buxton and Leek. Wish I'd stopped for a pic now.

Slight misalignment and slight hands off wobble at the front somewhere. I'll give it the old slacken everything off except top fork clamp and give it a good bounce. Hopefully that will sort it.

It will be my first time in the highlands. I’m really looking forward to it, even though the weather forecast isn’t great.
The first day (Cardiff to Dumbarton) is going to be a long one!

That's a fair step, to be fair.

It's nice enough all the way up (mostly), from Preston on it gets good but if you're going to travel from Dumbarton on the 82, it gets really good.

Give us a wave as you pass Junction 10 on the 74, not a million miles from there.

The journey is not as long as the Annecy to Cardiff in a day that I did last June.
Thankfully I have cruise control, a very good screen, and a comfortable bike.
I‘ve driven to Edinburgh many, many times, so know that the trip won’t get interesting till I pass Preston.
Anyway, it’s all an adventure!

So how many miles do you expect to be doing on that leg?
I still have a problem with my back/hips/bum/knees that so far isn't diagnosed but I struggle to do any more than about 15 miles without a break and 50 in a day is a lot to ask - I'm very envious!

I'm 55 and I probably wouldn't want to do 409 miles on my CBR. In a year, maybe :LOL: but not in one day.

I have family in South Wales, I quite often flirt with the idea of riding my bike down, with Wifey and my daughter follwing by car. Not done it yet

I‘m 58 Dale. Age is just a number!
I certainly wouldn’t want to do a ride like that on a sports bike or any naked bike.
When I move the screen to its upper position it is extremely effective. My seat is on the highest position, so my legs aren’t cramped, and cruise control is great.
I’ll be stopping every couple of hours for a break too.
 
Used to do 400+ mile days fairly often - on a naked GS550, usually at "are you sure I was going that fast, officer?" The refuelling stops were always welcome! Only did one long trip on the Rocket and felt pretty fresh after a 200 mile feet up stretch (might have been one dab at a roundabout.)
 
i ride a FZ1, even with my broken leg ( its a long story but ive had a broken leg for nearly 4 years ) a normal day ride out for me is 200 miles in winter to 300 miles in the summer, mainly as its lighter so can ride longer and still take in the sights, most ive done was 948, when i just woke up early one tuesday at 4am one morning and decided to go to see if i could spot the loch ness monster, up to the green welly for breakfast, then up the great glenn to loch ness, i had planned to stay in my mums in ayrshire but when i rang her to say im in Scotland, she told me that she was on holiday in the lake district, plans of mice and men and all that...so back home it was, 16 hours in the saddle. i should have gone the long way home as ive hankerings of joining the iron butt and doing a 1000 miles in a day but weirdly non of my mates fancy it , ive done the nc500 in 3 days and that includes the ride up and back home, something to do, but your not taking in much of the sights. i fancy doing the 5 capital cities of the uk in 24 hours, and im trying to convince work to sponcer me for a charity but the boss is having non of it..id have to do most of it on motorway or major A roads to fit it in logistically so not really my style but it would be an accomplishment to say ive done it, cardif, london, edingburgh,( quick power nap on the ferry) belfast, dublin..bikes for life
 
Ive got 1 days holiday left so with my shift pattern im off work from 18th to 24th march so 6 days up in Scotland it is, il stick to the west coast and probably stay on the mainland as the ferrys are a bit more infrequent on their winter schedule..i did up the west coast and skye last march and we had glorious weather, brilliant sunshine, dry roads, all my vents open on my jacket and snow on the peaks the 2 lads who i was with are local and couldnt remember a better march for riding...a great weeks riding...this is our view from my mates house looking onto invarary from across the loch eating fresh smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast...bliss

Had a wander into the local dealer yesterday - still like the look of that Moto Guzzi V7 Stone in matt black. They have a nice used Kawasaki Z650rs, too, but I can't make up my mind about the green. It's not Kawasaki green. But then I tell myself (a) I don't need a new bike, and (b) if I did get one do I really need a 600+? For what I do, a 350 or 400 would be ample. The Royal Enfields then come into play, but they look heavy for the small engines. Maybe a Z400, I tell myself (I like Kawasaki) but it looks soooo small. In the end I suspect I'll keep the ZRX for a while longer. But it's nice to look.

Mot time passed no issues on either of them and also I’ve managed to sort out an issue with the Suzuki Bandit with the coolant overflowing and leaving a little puddle when I stopped
Changed the Rad cap and took out the extra overflow pipe that’s fitted to early 1250s but they did away with on later bikes
all set for another year

Depends what you want it for. They're ideal for a gentle ride out but not the best tool for getting your knee down. Plenty of oomph to leave most 4 wheelers behind at the lights and look good too.
 
Before pinlock or even tear off strips...somebody came up with this idea to clear your visor...a spinning wheel in front of you...
