weekly Michael23's 2012 52 COMPLETED! WooHoo! Slide show added

Hi Michael

Small - I would have liked to see the Purple Guy as sharp as the Orange one, and something to compare scale... but a great subject

<edit> Just see your re-shoot, now that is fun and much more like it

Straight - Needed the description to work it out (having looked before reading) but once read a very original take on the theme, prefer the edit with the brighter face

Hi, Michael, Straight did require a read, but sometimes they do.

Works well, and I really like the processing. Not keen on the border and I feel a pure white brolly would have focused more attention on your daughter.

Cheers.

Thanks for the comments there Dean  I to prefer it lightened.

Hi Andy, I had a play with a few different colours, it needed a little something in my eyes. Black just didn't work for some reason and I tried this custom colour and I liked the similarity of the colours.

Hi Michael - sorry but not getting the theme from this shot. Also I think that it looks a bit austere - but that may be because i remember your daughter's smile from post #638

Thanks Alan, she certainly is very good at doing all of these different looks. It's always good to document different things like this. Immediately afterwards she smiled, but I paused and missed that one.

I'm afraid I find the shots rather grey although the edited shot certainly improves the photo.

This was edited in fashion with our current weather and state of mood in mind. Thanks for the comments.

Michael, had to read it, but it works, love the processing, although it did need the lightening up a bit.

Hi Michael, like others have said you do need to read it to see where straight is but that has been the case with many of our themes! I prefer the edited version and the greyness sums up our summer so far! you have a beautiful model by the way!!:):)

John and Sarah, thanks very much for the comments. I was hoping to do something else for this week but the week has almost ended and I doubt I am going to get chance. I am happy with what I have though this week.

I like the composition and yes the lighting isn't so good, but overall I think it works :)

It's on theme and therefore fits perfectly Michael... well composed and captured. I'm not quite sure on either a full SC or the full colour... the bricks look a little too dark in the SC version, and the red bricks reduce the impact of the red postbox a little... How about somewhere half way between ?? :D

Hi Michael

good take on the Straight theme...prefer the edited version as shows here's eye's a little better , liking the processing as well...def fdits with the recent weather

Letter....normally a fan of SC but this time I'm going for the full color version , just seems more...dunno how to explain it...more fitting maybe ? I like the detail in the brickwork which the color brings out .
No-one else has mentioned this but I'm sure it's a tad on the squiff....couple of mm only but...could be my eye's

Hi Lynne, thanks very much for popping by. I hadn't noticed the squiff, you may well be right there. I am still not sure which one I like best.

Now onto week 30 and contrast

This has been an editing exercise, just annoying the spiders were not both on webs. Does this work? I will be on the look out for the rest of the week to see if I can get the theme done in one picture.

Week 30, Contrast by scilly puffin, on Flickr

Hi Michael

not sure I get the theme from the shot.....BUT I really like this image , great tones , good detail in the web, spider & wood & nicely lit...possibly my favorite of all your shots....top work mister

ps...made the connection now...sometimes I'm just plain slow

Thanks very much Lynne :) Very pleased you like it! The more I look at it, the more I am really liking it. The big one came running all over my shed door when I opened it, took it's picture and theen I had the idea. Caitlin and I looked all round the garden and could find just 1 other spider! I need a proper macro lens!

Letter...not keen on the composition on this one. I'd prefer either tighter or wider. Probably wider and at an angle, maybe

Contrast. Nice, I do like spiders. I like the processing and it's a pity you couldn't get both on the same web.

The big one looks like it's about to pounce on the little one.

Cheers.

looks a bit odd a piece of wood stuck to a web but I really get the theme

Thanks Andy, I shall consider a wider crop the next time I visit the canal. It's a very nice stretch of canal and not too far from the NMA.

Thanks Allan, a little odd I agree, I like things odd sometimes :D Very pleased with this one.

I'v seen a new/old contrast, now this big/small. Good idea, wouldn't have thought of big spider/little spider myself. As said before, the wood is unusual but that's just what makes the shot different.

Certainly works with the theme, had the wood not been so short (both ends visible) I think it would have been more realistic but can't have everything :)

Interesting.... it fits the theme well.. like the tones and the details in the spiders are great...
