Thats a really nice shot, she has a lovely expression on her face even though you can only see a tiny bit of it.

I really don't know why you guys persist with this camera - it seems that owning one is a similar experience to a Japanese endurance game, only for the driven masochist. I kept mine for a week and got rid.
Beautiful but very flawed. And you can get the same IQ from cameras that work perfectly in every mode. Not sure that tricksy OVF is worth the baggage.
Now, when the X200 comes out.......
I certainly wouldnt say it was that bad at all..think I have just been unlucky.I tried with the af lock button in manual focus as well but had same result a couple of times.Funny thing was it would show as in focus on screen or through the viewfinder but when it played back the image it was blurred!

StuartH said:My other one was fine in this regard..its also terrible at f2 almost as if there is a fog over the image. Most odd as the few shots I have taken with this one had been fine up to now..Its also doing this "when close focusing in macro mode at f/2.0 and f/2.8 the camera will get achieve/show sharp focus just before the focus point box turns to green . When the camera focus box turns green, the camera goes out of focus and the out of focus image(diffused, not sharp) will be recorded."
Looking at a case for my X100 and there are some on the bay that 'look' pretty good. They are arround £15 -£25 and some include an NP-95 type battery.
Anyone tried one of these? Here are a few links....
Just a thought Stuart, what settings are you using while getting the focus misses?

I had the black one for a while but it was too inconvenient in terms of the tripod mount and getting to the SD/battery door. Also, the top bit doesn't fit on when you have the filter adaptor fitted.
I ended up going for just a half case like this one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-HB-Le...ags_Covers&hash=item3a7179f1d8#ht_6498wt_1159
Takes some time for shipping but it's excellent quality and hasn't left my camera.
That is perfect! I really only wanted a 1/2 case anyway. It's been ordered
Thanks for the linky!

Hi everyone.
I'm wondering if you can help me decide what to do. I want to ditch my d90 and various lenses for a smaller compact system.
I only shoot photos of my children and find that lugging the d90 around is just too much and the camera ends up staying at home.
I think I've narrowed it down to the x10 or x100
I want the nearest quality to my d90 as possible. I like sharp photos especially in the eyes etc. I also love to blow the background out from behind my subjects.
I want to go for the x10 because of the zoom but am wondering if the picture quality will come close to my d90.
I think the x100 would match the quality of my d90 but not sure if I will find the fixed focal length limiting with fast moving children
Any input would be appreciated. I'm going to post this on the x10 thread aswel to get some varied opinions
Thanks in advance
jj_glos said:It's not the focal length that will limit you with shots of fast moving children, it's the AF. I still get shots of my daughter but it doesn't compare to using servo AF on my 1Ds2. Apart from that it ticks all the boxes for me![]()
Thanks, those shots above are fantastic.
So how bad is the autofocus? Obviously it's not going to compete with a slr but does it manage or struggle with moving objects?
