Fuji x100

.... not sure I fancy the £100 for the official case!

Me neither. I have a Think Tank pouch that protects the camera nicely and I carry both the X10 and X100 in a small Billingham Hadley.
I did have a look at the ever ready type cases, but no one near me sells them and I would need to handle one on a camera before I parted with that sort of money.

Thanks. I want a camera that is going to give me good subject isolation. I'm ditching my d90 as its too big for me and just not getting used. So im looking for a small camera to replace my big setup

I'm toying between the x100 and the x10

This is the type of shot I'm after

I just need to figure out if the x100 is worth the £230 more than the x10

Cute :)

I'm pretty sure our requirements are pretty similar. Pretty much all my photography is centred around my daughter and family (nephew and niece also the same age as my daughter (3)), not too mention friends. Find a shop and have a play around with one :)

I might take a look at the pouch, I've had a ever ready case on my EP2 and its aright but sometimes I'd rather just use it naked as it were.

As long as I've got an LCD protector I think I'd be fine.

Oh any I succumbed today and purchased an X100 :)

What is your lens protection solution, please?

Snap - got gear on classifieds to help pay for it at the moment. Going to a wedding at the weekend - can't wait to play :-)

I've also accidentally bought one of these.

Had a play with one at the weekend and loved it. Going to try shooting alongside the GX1 and see which I prefer.

:(Well my second one is going back tomorrow just need to decide wether to go for a 3rd or back to dslr territory!..

Its all explained earlier in this thread mate.

Third time lucky Stuart ?

:(Mmm wish it was so mate but since buying one been apart from it more times than out and about with it lol. Really not sure what to do.Even contemplated getting the xs 1

Thats exactly what the other half said Lee...really dont fancy the nex tbh will probably get another dslr.

Right. Got my used x100 and I'm confused already.

The one I bought had a Fuji lesn hood and ring with it as well as the original. The lens cap only seems to fit when used with the adapter ring and filter. If I use the original "thread protecting" ring and no filter it doesn't seem to have enough to grab onto.

Am I missing something?

I'm assuming you got it second hand? This is the default lens cap: http://shop.fujifilm.co.uk/media/ca...ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/x/1/x100_lens_cap.jpg

It has a felt lining and slips onto the end of the lens. Won't fit on with the filter adapter, which is why you need a different 'snappy' lens cap. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41NWGJHBGWL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Had a look at the EM-5? I think it looks rather good, and appears to correct some of the things which annoyed me about the X100. No OVF unfortunately, but the EVF appears decent according to the DPR review.

Yeah it was second hand.

That's the lens cap I've got. How far is it supposed to push on when not using the hood filter ring? Is it supposed to go onto the focus ring?

It fits on snuggly when the filter ring is on back to front.

Yeh I think it's supposed to go over the focus ring. I'll have a check later.

Still can't figure it. It just doesn't seem to fit.

I wonder if the guy before me has modified it? Should it have felt around the edges as well as at the end inside?

Do any of your bits look different?

That's a mighty personal question. I mean I guess one hangs lower....oh wait I get you..

Nothing looks different on those pictures apart from yours works! I've taken some myself.

Lens cap as far on as it will go. It's practically balanced. The slightest knock means it falls off.

Don't mean to sound daft or condescending, but have you pushed in on hard enough? I remember thinking mine was a little flaky, but they seem to just stay on via the friction of the felt against the lens, so you do need to push it on a decent amount and there is no discernible click or other noise to give you that satisfying feeling that it's properly engaged.

I've put a load of weight on it to the point that it makes a ring on my hand, it's going nowhere. I'm so confused...

Ok. We have a solution. I contacted the fella I bought it from saying I was on the edge of a nervous breakdown as it didn't make any sense.

He'd put a thin layer of velcro inside so it fit with the filter. Now it's out it fits like a glove.

:( Well Clifton received mine today and just spoke to the guy that deals with service/repairs and he confirmed that there is definitely an issue with the focusing.. Think I will just get a refund tbh.Shame as I loved the camera.

It arrived at about 7:30 tonight - I thought I'd missed the last delivery for the day! Took an age to charge to battery - I've not actually turned it on yet, just put on a screen protector and tried not to drool over it too much :) For a refurb, the only issue so far is that the box has seen better days. The camera itself is immaculate and all the accesories are clearly new. Roll on tomorrow!

Some low indoor light, high ISO shots (lost a lot of the detail playing with curves rather heavily ;)).

Autofocus in this light is no problem now. When I first got the camera getting a good focus on these would have been impossible. It's still impossible to get a focus lock on a moving animal (or kid), but they just need to stay still for a second.

Well done Fuji.

Turned on my new refurb this evening. Hmm, why can't I play back the shots? Oh, none of the buttons beside the display work? Lovely. Oh, and the manual focus ring is broken too? Even better! Oh, and that lovely EVF/OVF finder is broken as well! Fantastic!

I'm a wee bit pee'd off to say the least.

I know how you must be feeling, its a lot of cash to spend on something you can't use!
So, is it back to a dslr? Will you have enough cash left over for an X10 to keep in your pocket?
