Love the angle, I really like low shots looking up at people, it's just different to the everyday eye level shots, great :thumbs:

"That'll Teach Em!!"

Went to Portland Basin Museum with the kids today and had a good look around at our local history. The Museum has recently re-opened after refurbishment and we all had a great time.

I tried to 'age' this picture in post-processing - did it work?

I tried a little less saturation and it seemed to have a negative effect as did conversion to B&W, so i suppose this is the happy (ish) medium :)
 
I like the washed out colours, think it works well. Only other thing to try would be very slight sepia (very slight) or film grain effect, but these maybe overkill.

The Sepia one is ok, but prefer the washed out colour version.

"Caught In The Act!"

Bit of a last minute shot today, but i needed to test my lens after receiving it back from Tamron following calibration (Had a soft spot on the left hand side, but tests show this to be cured now). I sent it out to them on Saturday and received it back today all sorted - top service :clap: :thumbs:

Just before we were to head out to swimming practice tonight i heard Caitlin rumaging under Rebecca's bed, so i sneaked up and caught her by surprise :)
 
thanks Marc. She was getting some dressing up clothes, but was completley oblivious to my being there :D

The lens's soft spot was hardly noticable. But when I spoke to the official importer the could not do enough for me and virtually insisted that I sent it in for calibration :lol:

It's sharp as can be now :)

I've been toying with the idea of a 17-50 2.8, can't really see why the nikon 18-55 is 3 times the cost, but I'm fearful that it's crap...

28-75mm f2.8. It's as sharp as a sharp thing, as is the 17-35mm tamron that I also have. I've had (and sold) the nikons (14-24 & 24-70) and to be honest the tamrons are lighter , just as sharp , and a damn sight cheaper.

It'd be nice to have the few extra mm of the 14-24 but I'd rather have the £1k difference in my pocket ;)

"Rainbow Smiles!"

Spent the day in Manchester today and visited the Urbis to see the "Reality Hack - Hidden Manchester" Exhibition by Andrew Paul Brooks. Some very good images in there and well worth seeing if you're local to the Urbis. Then it was off to the Museum Of Science And Industry. We always have a good time there and when i spotted these rainbow stairs i knew i'd found the setting for todays picture :)

I'd look at the Siggy 150mm Macro as well. The internal HSM focus (no extending barrel) helps to avoid spooking the insects :)
 
Rainbow smiles is great, I remember I hated having my photo taken (Still do), your girls must be so used to it by now :D

Thanks SM. Yes they are turning into proper little celeb 'wannabes'. Every time they see a camera, tey turn on the smiles :)

We really tired them both out so they are getting a bit 'annoyed' with each other now. But never mind it will soon be bedtime as we all have an early start in the morning and have to be at the Manchester Aqautics Centre by 8am in the morning as Rebecca is in a Swimming Gala tomorrow. Can you guess what tomorrows picture is going to be ;) :lol:

"You're My Number 1"

Rebecca came first in both of her heats (50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle) in the Central Lancs Gala that was held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre today.

To say that we're proud of her is an understatement, and she shattered her personal best times by 7 seconds :)

I once played rugby for Ireland under 18's, where did it all go?? She was way ahead of the competition, 3 secs??

Thanks JD, Rainbow Smiles is one of my favourites so far in this 365 as it was just a really natural picture :)

And as for the 3 second lead she was over the moon with the results and she led by a similar margin in the Freestyle :woot:

Thanks SE, i was running up and down the stands like a man posessed trying to get shots as she swam up the lane. Got around a seconds worth of continuous burst on the dive then ran to half way for a few shots then to the finish to get her winning :lol:
