Daily Carol's 365 from 12th December 2012 - A Year of Happiness

That's a good idea. I did do my friend's wedding but I bought a second flash, a better lens, went on a course, borrowed a camera as backup, borrowed a longer prime and a wide angle, did practice sessions with friends, went to the venue to look around and take test shots, went to the rehearsal to see the church and talk to the minister - it was a lot of work! A detailed shot list, a friend along on the day for moral support and back up, a long day and a lot of pressure. Friends still expect you to stop and chat but you can't relax and be a guest.

I loved every minute of it though!

I like the droplet shots - though sounds like a lot of effort to get them!

I dont think ill be visiting the rehearsal as they are both down south and a bit far to travel just for a few hours - the wedding will be different :) Once Ive done a few special shots I should have a bit more confidence and be able to do a bit more but still not at the Pros level.

Thanks about the droplets :) It wasnt too bad just hard as my tripod wouldnt play properly

Thanks Sarah :)

Where has today gone??? I got up with all good intentions of doing some housework and preparing everything camera wise for tomorrow as we have to be in Wolverhampton for an All Dayer starting at 1pm, going via Manchester to collect some friends on the way. But... somehow.... I got waylaid and before I knew it the day was gone as was the snow and the light so I had to settle for a flower that I tried yesterday in Macro. I redid it today and while processing it and adding copyright etc I noticed something that can not be seen by the naked eye (or with a magnifying glass either) This flower is about an inch across and is one of those bright green things they throw in a bouquet to fill it up  so you can imagine the size of the 'Uninvited Guest' Miniscule is not the word..... I had to crop it for you to see it properly (well slightly blurred but you get the idea)

If you look right in the centre you can see him

Fab... How did you ever spot him (or her)?

Thanks Kenny :)
when I upload the shots to the computer I always open them up after in windows picture and fax viewer so I have a large image to look at then can check the focus etc. Just happened to see him and though 'what the heck is that???' and zoomed in...... There were loads of them on it in different shots but he got centre stage

OOh yuk - I wonder what it is

Whatever it is ..... it now resides in the bin!

It's like 'Where's Wally' with answer supplied below!

I don't even want to know what it is, but do want to know you chucked it out of your house!

Having said that....photo 1..great close up....lovely sharp green colour..like it! :)

Thanks Sam :) That Macro is working with me now rather than against me

Yes he is now outside in the bitter cold wet night ..... showed OH and all he said was 'OMG!!!! Euuugggghhhhhh!!!! ' so think that was my cue to wrap it up and throw him out - he didnt pay or offer to pay any rent so out he went! (I mean the bug not the OH  )

Hi Carol. Yesterdays is a great idea, another thing I must try. I would actually need to write some of these things down.
You should have had your macro lens out for today, love the colour in the flower anyway

Thanks Phil :) Had the Macro to do that flower for todays POTD and thats how I spotted the little bug :D

Beautiful Carol, the colour is electric!

I also received the CF card today. Thank you so much!!! Now I just need the camera to put it in

Thanks Toni :) Well it is ready for when you get it :D

Great shot! Loving the greens and the pattern of the flower, there's a black line / hair in the upper right corner that's distracting me a little though.

Thanks Paul :) didnt even notice that until you mentioned it  was too busy looking at the 'guest' I think

Getting better with the Robin Carol. Number 1 of the 2 reflection shots I like, though number 2 looks good too. Lovely colour in the flower for todays picture.

Thanks Michael :)

I love todays  the colours are just wonderful, really brightened up my day  yesterdays. I like the idea but I think that you need to find less scrached CD case

Thanks Matt :) Yes realised that after I had taken the shots and was running out of time  Wanted to use a piece of glass originally but thought I would use as the instructions said :(

Thanks Vince :)

Love the green flower Carol, it's amazing how many of those you spot when taking flower shots. Just watch out for hairs and bits like that as there is one across the top right hand corner. You could just clone it out though.

I love those green flowers!... macro'd they look so good don't they, but you can keep the little critter!:D

Thanks Sarah :) Yes I saw that hair a bit too late - after Id posted it and it had been commented on :( Not too sure where it came from as I have blond hair lol

Thanks Trace :) Its okay I decided to rehome him/her to the bin!

We are back from our All Dayer in Wolverhampton and I just have time to upload my POTD for the day. Even though we were virtually confined to a Bar for the afternoon I managed to 'sneak' out a couple of times and got some photos - some wonderful architectural features around the city centre but these tiles caught my eye. They were all around the building between the ground and first floor and were advertising a 'Wine & Spirit Merchants'. The building was then changed into a pub and then a Berni Inn then back to a Bar again and can be found next to the Town Hall. It was built in 1864 ( I found the carved plaque further up the building and got a shot of that as well but liked the tiles the best)

Carol, I can only guess that you were really tired ;) It needs straightening :p

Well done on managing to sneak out to get some shots for your POTD! It's sometimes hard to find the time, especially when work, family and friends can end up taking every spare minute! Nice detail shot and interesting to hear about the history of the building. I wonder when the tiles were put up?

I like this - nice, simple presentation and I love the dirty grouting and cracked tile above :).

Some of the old tiles were really eye catching, weren't they. Good spot Carol.

Thanks Lynn :) Everyone and their dog wanted a photo taking yesterday and I never got too long to myself but sneaked out for about 15 minutes and took my friend with me ..... she was amazed when I saw things that she hadnt noticed because they were high up and not at eye or floor level which is what she is used to looking at  I think the tiles were put up when the building was first built ... seems about that time period for them :) Got the story from the Venue promoter when we were unloading the car so was determined I was getting out at some point

Thanks Sam :) I love anything like this - was (and still am when I get the time) a family history fanatic so the interest is always there :)

Today it has rained non stop and I have also had most of the day at work so came home and started to wonder what I could try tonight but I am still tired from the travelling yesterday - (I'm getting too old for all this shooting about the country and dancing  ) - then I spotted this little flower on the Spider Plant on the Dining Table and thought why not :)
I love the petals in it as they remind me of prawn crackers. We have 6 new stems with about 4 new plants on each but just before they become shoots and leaves they have these tiny flowers about half an inch long. They open during the day but close at night so caught this one mid way

Kev ..... my lines had gone to bed and left me to suffer :(
The white may be a touch soft but these little blighters are tiny and trying to get them just right was harder than I thought :(

Day 50!! Wouldnt have believed I would even last this long but I have (somehow) managed it even though the last couple of days have been 'behhhhh' days on a massive scale. I sat this morning trying to think what I could do to 'celebrate' the Big 50 (as far as POTD goes) and I had some ideas but nothing would work at all..... didnt want to do birds or flowers or anything like that. Even had an idea for a SP which didnt work as I wanted it to so I will try that one again later. So I started baking and tried a few shots of the preparation but they looked like commercials for the flour maker and sugar maker so they were out of the door as well
In the end I took some shots of the buns (butterfly buns with a twist - chocolate buttons instead of the cake - my stepson loves them like this) and decided to put them together in a trypych kind of frame... think it works :) well it works better than the others anyway lol

Thanks Toni :) I made 4 dozen of them as well as a chocolate chip sandwich cake which is a good 6" deep with chocolate fondant icing on the top (usually do chocolate shavings on it as well but didnt have enough chocolate to do that with so just plain today :) Will send you a bit in the post if they last that long :D

Thanks Sarah :) feel sick now after eating the left over bits of batter and butter icing  Will learn one day :)
