Daily Carol's 365 from 12th December 2012 - A Year of Happiness

Thanks Sam :D

Prefer the heron Carol, you must be getting pretty close.

Oh wow Carol, that heron shot is fantastic!

Thanks Toni :)

Thanks Phil :) was about 10 feet away from him today but using my 80 - 200mm so I could get right in close :) - too many kids jumping and screaming about for his liking

Thanks Matt and Ferj :D

Carol I really love the heron shot! With all the snow bokeh too! Excellent!

Thanks Lynn and Tim :)

Thanks Jake :)

Love those last 2 shots. Especially the heron!! What a fantastic spot and capture. The snow is excellent

Thanks Vince, Sarah and Conor :) Actually had a woman on FB ask me today if I really did take that photo  Was surprised myself to be honest

Wondered all day what to do for my POTD as the birds had come this morning just as I was getting ready to go to work and I got some shots but not brilliant ones :( Then got home to find the Post Man had been and delivered my OHs (slightly late) Christmas Present :D He had always wanted another pair of these Wingtip Brogues as the last pair he had was when he was 18. Handmade with leather soles and in the colour he wanted - Brown and White

Fab! I love these sort of shoes on men. A lot of the dancers would wear them - my OH has a pair of Black and Whites.

Thanks Lynn :) I wanted to get him Black and White but he was determined he wanted the exact same pair he had back in the day so he won and got the Brown and White..... Had to answer loads of questions just to get them out of the box and in front of the camera  He also has a pair of Loafers that he has owned for about 30 years - just keeps resoling them :) He doesnt dance - DJing is his thing to do at the gigs but the amount of walking he does and bouncing around he wears them out in no time

Ooh cute shoes Carol i bet he is very happy!.... i can't find if i commented on the heron.. so if i didn't its LOVELY!!!!!:D

Thanks and Thanks Trace :D He loves them and wont let them out of his sight  If he wears them to bed then there may be a bit of trouble but so far nothing like that has crossed his mind :bat:

Nice use of the fabric to form a sort of infinity wall  I think that you've actually done rather well on this

Thanks Matt :) The fabric is actually a grey marl which I made a back drop with. Its just the editing that I did that makes it look brownish :)

Today I did my first baby shoot with an 8 month old baby boy ........ Never knew anything could move that fast at that age  But I took about 80 shots of him and ended up with about 25 that looked ok. Never panicked so much as I did today - the usual stuff like 'will the mum be okay about the end result?, will baby be ok and not be in a bad mood, will I fluff them up??' Had to show the Mum on the camera and she picked one out and gave permission for me to post them as well which is always a good move :)
So please be kind and dont forget I dont usually do babies like this :)

Thanks Kev :) Couldnt put all the baby shots on here so just the two and the shoes?....... most expensive pair of shoes I've ever paid for  If he ruins them in any way I will be borrowing that knife of yours :naughty:

What a lovely little boy! It's scary doing any new type of shoot for the first time but I imagine young children add an extra element of challenge!

Thanks Lynn :) I was so nervous and what made it worse was that she invited her friend over as well so I had an audience  Now that was more frightening than the baby :D But I'm happy enough with the shots with them being a first time :)

I know what you mean - at the first wedding I did (for friends) there were a few guests with cameras following my every move, watching me set up shots and poses and literally shooting over my shoulder (I stepped back onto one at one stage). The audience made me more nervous than I already was!

Oh that sounds fun especially as she has asked me to do her wedding as well :( Looks like I may be biting my tongue a few times  especially if her Mum and Gran join in telling me which shots to take etc

Fab job Carol! I have a couple of a 6 month old boy and it's not the easiest but I really enjoyed it! I love shooting babies when they can't move fast or far

Being prepared for an audience the next time makes it easier as you can think of ways of handling it. :-)

I know nothing about portrait shots but knowing children at that age, well done on getting him in focus at all! Just watch out for the shadows behind him.

sorry playing catch up ...

The heron is ace
The lighting on the shoes is perfect
and how cute and adorable is he?

Good range of images here

Very dapper shoes there, Carol! And what an amazing model you had today, with a great job by you as well!! :)

Like your baby portraits, very cute indeed (think the 2nd is my fav).

Very nice shoes too!
