Daily Carol's 365 from 12th December 2012 - A Year of Happiness

Thanks Simon :) Only had the Macro for about 2 weeks and I kept trying and trying and not getting anywhere but today messed about, changed a few things and voila .... a much better shot :)

Saw these on FB and thought they were lovely. Really like the crop on this one. :)

Thanks Lynn :D and thanks for all the likes as well :) Havent edited them at all .... this is how I took the shot and how close the lens can go :) Am quite pleased with it now I have figured out how to change the DOF and not get so much blur :)

Yes I should have said framing rather than crop - I'm not used to macro lenses and shooting in that close! Must give it a try sometime. I have a borrowed Sigma lens somewhere that I think is a macro - only tried using it once before so must get it out and try it.

I was quite happy with my 80-200mm doing all the close ups before or my 35-80mm for real close ups but this one is brilliant now that I have figured it out :) Get it out and try it out - you might get hooked like I am

Beautiful orange flower, have no idea what it is, other than a flower :)

That's better Carol, the focus is spot on just where you need it. Increasing the DOF makes it a bit easier to focus as you know more will be in focus, if you know what I mean. Great bright colour for a dull day as well.

Thanks Sarah :) Had been saying last week that I should start learning a bit more about aperture and last night I decided to .... was amazed myself how much of a difference it made :)

Gerbera are one of my fav flowers! This is beautiful and the rest on fb are lovely too

Thanks Trace :) well looks like it could be snow shots today - coming down heavy here and my baby shoot been cancelled :( she has three older girls as well and they are all at home so would be hectic

Yeah sounds like it... Hopefully a reshoot soon tho.... All schools closed here

You've done a brilliant job with your last flower, Carol - vibrant and sharp and I love the fact it's not the entire flower but a section of it.

cant believe they have closed the schools here when it is only about an inch thick - boilers have frozen they said :(

Thanks Sam :) Took a while to get the settings right but I got there :)

Excellent Carol, so pleased you are getting on better with the Macro now :D

Thanks Sarah :) Getting used to it now :)

Sorry your shoot was cancelled. I was starting to take some flower close up shots but it started snowing so had to rearrange travel plans & go out earlier than planned. Will try again later!

Got it rescheduled for Wednesday Lynn so not too bad - shame about the flowers :( Had to go out myself so tried a few snow shots though not happy with them really but will see what I can do :)

the orange is rather breath taking carol. those water droplet add that freshness..that 'Ahhh!!' to it... sort of noise the back of the throat... composition radiating is sweet to say the least .

Carol yesterday's shot of the flower is lovely and is also on of my favourites and I bought some today !!
:):)

Thanks Vince :) I seem to be getting the hang of this Macro now :)

really..???? aye..well... its that normal you've had me doing... gets everywhere :suspect:

Me??? No way  Ive never tried to lead you down that wrong road :nono: Must be someone else youre thinking of

Well I went for a walk in the snow (not as cold as I thought ) and tried a few shots but mainly got the ducks and Heron at the lake with the snow falling. Came back home and edited them and just didnt feel they hit the spot for the POTD. Went to have a look in the back garden to see if any birds were around but they were all under cover so decided to take a shot of the bush outside the window and that seemed to do the job

So this is my take on Inside Out :)

Very pretty, look at those buds coming through, spring must be on it's way

Thanks Sarah and I hope so :D

I like this - especially with the whisps of snow coming down in the background and YAY for buds appearing all over the place!

Thanks Sam :) Buds are always a good sign :) Can't wait for March and Spring :D

well yes but not much going on ........ is there?

clues please

Thanks Vince but thought everyone would be sick of seeing the Heron by now

Will post it though so everyone can choose :)

This is the Heron shot I took today but thought you would all be sick of seeing him by now  So you can all choose which one you really like out of the two for today :D
