and am now looking for my mechanical :o)

 Glad to hear it!
That's enough of all this quitting talk :rules:
This 52 is all about a personal challenge and improving your photography - don't worry about what other people are doing. Honestly, if I did that I'd never post anything on this site!

IMO this week is the best so far from your 52 and if you look back at your earlier shots you'll see how far you've come already.
It's amazing how taking a shot each week and getting C&C will help you improve - 7 weeks ago would you have even noticed that the map was cutting off part of that man's leg?

Personally I quite like the blurred vignette on the first shot. It's a bit OTT, but it definitelly adds to the aged feel.
I agree with the comments about the "modern" people in shot, but that's covered well by the vignetting and it's hardly a disaster :)

Looking forward to seeing your week 8 . . . and you'd better make sure that there is a week 8 :bat: ;)

Disaster is certainly not a word I would use - I really like that! :)

The blurring may be a little heavy, but it works, as it helps to focus in on the man with the barrow and away from the 'modern' people in the shot. I think the processing is really good.

I look forward to seeing your shot for Week 8 :)

If anything Bob this should spur you on, for me this is the best work you,ve done, I really like it, especialy your PP work.Keep going you'll regret it if you give up.:nono:...Mick

The blurring is a bit too strong for me but I love the overall effect - it has a real timeless quality.

Absolutely no need to feel like giving up! :nono:

thanks to you all for your comments !!

First of the two for me. Can I suggest a black & white conversion to remove the little colour tints and a heavy boost to the contrast to give it some oomph :)

Much better in my opinion. What do you think though?

I have to agree with you
dh prefered the 1st one though cos of the colour so i went with his choice lol

It's all subjective, that's the beauty of art.

The first for me too! The second looks like an eBay advert for an electric motor! :D

prefer the 1st shot but am torn between the 2 versions.. like the colours on the first but the second does have more impact :suspect:

Gotta be the first shot of the inside of the drum... Well thought out and taken... prefer the mono contrasty version. The motor is just that...

Glad you're still here, well done for sticking at it

have to say it very rare to see my machine empty didnt notice the potential for a pic until i was done with the motor dh thought i was barmy with my head in the machine (well nearly lol)

1st shot of the drum for me, the mono version is good but the splashes of colour on the first add to the abstractness of the shot.

Second shot of the drum for me Bob and no more talk of giving up - you're coming on leaps and bounds.

Oh and beware washing machine motors - I had one bite me once - not a pleasant experience I can tell you!!:shake:

That's nothing! Have you ever come up against washing machine brushes???? They hunt in pack you know.......:whistling:

Love the B&W conversion :) !

   Glad to hear it !!!!

And this is the best week from you so far.
I love the abstract nature of your washing machine drum shot, and it's surprising what a difference the contrasty B&W conversion has made.
Nicely done with the reflections too - it would have been so easy to totally blow all those highlights.

p.s. Just don't let the neighbours see you with your head shoved inside the machine ;)

Well I had changed the brushes on the motor, put the thing back together only to find the drum not rotating. Now the next bit is a little fuzzy (and you will see why), but I noticed the drum belt had slipped off so I lent into the back of the machine not realising it was now plugged in and my arm connected with the (unprotected ) power terminals.

I promptly received a severe electric shock. Long story short - I drove myself to hospital, had a few ECG's and found I had dislocated my shoulder when I pulled myself out of the blasted thing. Was going on holiday the next morning as well - got me out of carrying the bags though ;)). That was nearly 5 years ago - till have a nasty scar that looks like a plug socket!

Hi Bob, I love the B/W version of the washing machine drum. It's a clever idea.

Jenny

Glad to hear it Bob.

another week not missed !!!

I had to read that twice, thought you'd put boobs sig!

Nice touches in this shot.

Well done Bob. Lighting isn't bad, exposure is good and you've added some interest with the words and sig :) Good effort.

I wanted the "y" for photography but think someone else must have it or its still in the bag !!!!

Love it, the colours realy pop and its a nice simple image without lots of distractions. Nice one.

Bob, that's worked very nicely. The colours are good and strong, a clean simple image. Shame about the Y not in your hand though ;)
