Blondie606's Photo52 2011-Wk 52 Glass & Nature,Challenge Complete

Hey Lynne what a great image. It's like some Psychodelic 1960's thing. What were you taking when you did that? ;)

The purple border is great for this image, but not sure about the black border.

Cheers, Patrick

Hi all, thanks for taking the time to comment
Patrick...can't remember what I took but wish I had some more:D

I did the original picture with just the purple borders :
Untitled-129.jpg

Still not sure which I prefer  but think the black border just adds something...not quite sure what though...definition maybe??

Hiya Lynne,

Hmmmm, I know what you mean about the pic without the black border, just a suggestion, would it be possible to see the image without the lilac borders and just a black border? Maybe that will put things into perspective. I think that perhaps the image would look best with one or the other.

I'm not sure if the lilac border is bold enough of a colour to frame such a vibrant image, so either a plain black border or a richer colour (if that makes sense).

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hiya Lynne,

Indeed a tricky one, would you mind if I have a go and see what I can come up with and I'll PM you the results.

Cheers

Dawn :)

 Viewing the version with just the lilac border looks a lot better when viewing via the tp black theme, and changing to tp blue theme, this makes the latest one with the black border look better. I would look at it this way, If you were going to print it and having it on a wall, keep the lilac border, but mount on a solid black card, this to me helps emphasize the border. If printed and displayed on a white back ground, then keep the black border on its own.

Hiya Lynne!

I like your creative spin on the Chaos theme. I agree that the colours and the kaleidoscope effect are just beautiful. The only negative comment (based only on personal taste) is the pixelated (or spotted) appearance. I would have preferred the colours to be smooth. But again it's just my taste.

Great job for deciding to go creative with the software.

p.s. Regarding the border I think a combination of two colours will be best. The inner to be the pale lilac (in thinner width) and the outer the black (or dark lilac).

Thanks for commenting Rayna , does look a bit pixilated but maybe that adds the chaos feeling  & the border is still buggin me! Hey ho...

So week 9 ..Finish ....when I saw the theme my 1st though was "thats it , I'm finished ! " As if chaos & clutter were'nt hard enough :bang:

Woke this morning determined to get out with the camera, sun was trying to shine so headed off to Yorkshire Wildlife park aiming to have fun with the camera instead of thinking about the theme . By the time I arrived so had the rain ! Sod it ! Undeterred but a little dispondent off I went with the rain hood on the camera :)

Saw this shot & thought Urekaaaa , got ya:D

The fella on the left seems to be saying " now where do I finish & the others start ? "

Happy that I got the shot & mainly in focus & that I finally got out of the house with the camera:thumbs:

Not 100% happy with the color? & the branch's that were in the way but these little fellas were not being 100% co-operative with the framing

Still , had a good day , got a theme result & some cute pictures .Be back later to have a catch up on all the 52's I've missed this week:wave:

Hi Lynne, What a great shot. I am still scratching my head on this new theme. You have demonstrated that i night to think away from the obvious. Fabulous use of the theme. You could also have used this for clutter and chaos lol. What a fab sight to come across. You got a great composition in spite of natures obstacles. Well done for the image and being so quick off the mark.

Martin

It's a good take on the theme.
How many are on that branch?

Did you go manual focus or auto?
I was out yesterday trying out my new 70-300 on some birds around bird feeders. Being cluttered with branches, the auto kept focusing on the wrong place!
Still, at least I got to practice with manual focus.

I'm not too sure if something naughty is going on up in that tree or not! :D

Clever use of the theme there, something I certainly wouldn't have thought about. It's like a strange mix of arms, legs, tails, and heads and you're exactly right - where does one finish and the next one start?

I do like the cheeky chappy on the right sticking his face through between leg and tail!

Your explanation makes the picture; I think it's pretty cool. It'd be interesting to see it with a crop though - just showing the animals to focus on the tangle.

Thanks Martin , for a change I was in the right place at the right time & with my eyes open

Lynne, I love it, it looks like the animals version of twister! Great composition there also! A brilliant take on the theme. I'm also still  here.
Hi Michael ,thanks for commenting ,I decided that today was just about having fun with the camera & I fell over this shot

Thanks for commenting Andy , never did manage to add up how many as at least 2 of them kept buggering off & having a mad 2 minutes ! Was on manual shutter & aperture but auto focus .Should have tried manual focus but just wanted to get the shot . & you're right ,auto focus can be a pain ,I find myself talking to the camera , trying to encourage it to focus where I want it not where it thinks it should:bonk:

Hi Lynne, love your week 9:clap:, great spot & I like your thoughts, is it 5 or 6 in the picture?

Appreciate you popping in to comment Andy

Hi Ray , they are indeed cheeky chappies & sooo cute , thanks for commenting

Hi, Lynne, now nobody will post a picture the same or similar to your finished one.

Truly original.

The right hand lemur is is definitely saying, "I am sssooooo comfortable!".

Cheers.

Hiya Lynne,

Yep, right place, right time .... you have a great shot for this week's theme. I agree with Ironside that a tighter crop might work well, and will also eliminate the stray branches.

Otherwise a fab shot

Cheers

Dawn :)

Brilliant! I love the shot  And a lovely take on the theme, I certainly can't be sure who finishes where ;)

I'd crop off the left hand space as that doesn't add to the image, and a bit off the bottom just to balance it. Having no pp skills myself the irritating twigs would have to stay, but if you have any...maybe?

Still great idea though

Possibly a touch too square ?

Oh ,& no pp skills to speak of :-)

Hiya Lynne,

I know I should be concentrating on my own week 9 at the moment, but couldn't resist having a look at what I could do with your image. Here is what I came up with .... (bit of crop, saturation, sharpen, straighten and added the border).

I will remove the image if you want ... but thought it would give you an idea of what I was thinking when I saw the photo:

Thanks for taking the time to comment Ceri ,'tis appreciated :)

Cheers for showing another version Dawn , think your crop works better than mine , not sure about the sharpening yet , I'm wary of oversharpening so maybe need to be a bit braver ! I'm also trying to avoid putting everything in a frame but like the one you have done

C'mon , where's your shot ? Dying to see your take this week

Hiya Lynne,

Thanks, glad you like the crop .... sharpening is still a bit of a learning curve for me, and adding frames .... well as you know I just love that part :D

Hey ..... talk about a kick up the beehind  ...... I'm trying to decide which pic out of the 4 to choose, but think I might just have to post all of them because I can't make up my mind, and I am now pressed for time as I am due to go out with one of my friends tonight for a good old girly chin-wag :) So patience ..... I am working on it :D

Cheers

Dawn :)

I just love this shot. Brilliant capture. Great for the theme.

For me, Dawn's version is a bit too sharpened. Maybe somewhere between the two... But her other processing works for me.

Another excellent pic

What an original take on the 'finish' theme! Superb.
I think that Dawn's crop is an improvement in terms of composition, but I'm not overly keen on the additional sharpening as the colours and sharpness of the original were about right.

Thanks for all the positive & constructive comments guys n gals , much appreciated  One thing I am learning is this photo malarky is soooo subjective that you can't please all the people all the time .

Week 10 already....time flies when your having fun !

Driving to work yesterday morning I had a rare flash of inspiration & saw my shot for this weeks theme...yay ! However no-one told Sarah & she drew the wrong theme for my photo

Liked the theme drawn though & with the sun shining ( you remember the sun don't you...big yellow thing that appears in the sky occassionally !) I headed off to Potteric Carr with the intention of taking some bird shots with my new lens . 3 birds on the feeding table or a branch...couldn't be too hard could it ? Hmmm, new lens = steep & slow learning curve so binned that idea:bonk:

Stay with me...I'm getting there !

Driving home & another flash of inspiration (2 in a day = lie down needed ! ) so parked up & proceeded to lay on the pavement at the side of the main road , much to the amusment of passing cars  Quick play in Picnik & we have a trio of spring......

Hi, Lynne, as soon as I saw your trio photograph, I though, "Like it!".

Really, great colours, great depth, great focus and like the vignetting and border.

I'm still pondering the central positioning, but I think it's a good choice.

Also, you've actually made a T in the flowers to complement Trio, well done...;)

Cheers.

The crocus shot is lovely, how do achieve the misty framing?

My PP skills are up there with my ability to not to tell someone they are a ##### when they really are :shake:

Mick

Hi Mick... thanks for popping in & saying nice things  (hoping the other bit of the comment is'nt aimed at me :'( )
My pp skills are also limited , still can't find my way round PSE properly :bonk:
However , Dawn ( Drodd) introduced me to Picnik which is far simpler to use & has some great effects like the misty one in this shot . I have'nt upgraded to the full thing yet (payday needs to hurry up ) but you can get some fun/usefull/arty stuff in the free version

Thanks Andy ..... wondered what you were on about "making a T" with the flowers but now you've said it I can see it

Hi Lynne,
Wow, what a lovely spring image. Great pp too. the picnik app was a good choice. The mistiness really works and points the focus where it belongs.
Another week quick off the mark too for you

Bloody marvelous image , nice one.
