WTF is wrong with people?

Sickening. The poor old sod had just been given the all clear from cancer as well. Some of these bloody reptiles need the plug pulling from them. End of!!
 
I read this earlier today.
Wondered how long it would take to make it here.

When sentences are debated here, I wonder what folk feel is appropriate for animals like this.
 
I see from the report that someone has been arrested at least, when I first heard it earlier they were "seeking a man"

As for punishment, hanging is too good for them.

A couple of people fell out at a local morrisons petrol station today, so one stabbed the other in the leg with scissors!
 
Someone has been arrested on Suspicion of Murder, that is all at this stage. Still a long way to go......

Absolutely shocking that a routine trip out to get some fuel has ended in tragedy.
 
A bloody big 4x4 came racing up behind me this morning, forcing his way past me. I don't react anymore, I just let them get past me. Better to keep them where you can see them. If you beep your horn now, you risk a load of abuse, possibly even confronted by someone with a weapon :confused:

To be honest, even though I am an old fart, I don't look my age. Well at least that's what I keep telling myself :D
 
It was a bit more then a normal arrest, armed police and helicopter involved, road is unlikely to open till later today either.
There really aren't words to describe someone that evil
 
Driving on the roads these days is scary. I've been driving for 30 odd years and I've noticed a real lack of respect to other road users in the last 3/4 years . But to stab someone to death because of a fender bender is beggers belief.

Standard arrest with someone suspected of having an edged weapon or firearm. Helicopters are often used for intelligence gathering or pursuits. All fairly standard textbook stuff nothing out of the ordinary actually.

Sounds a bit overkill to me, but better safe then sorry (y)

Will the charge be murder or manslaughter ?
Carrying a knife could be construed as premeditated I suppose

...and perhaps the stabbing him multiple times...
 
Despite the knife in the car and the multiple stabbing, it'll be hard to establish that he deliberately set out before the incident to kill someone.
CPS will have their work cut out for them there.
I hope they try hard though.

Irrelevant. We've been through all this before. Murder doesn't have to be pre-planned.

Totally relevant !

The 'intent' has to be proved beyond all reasonable doubt. That could be prior-to (pre-planned) or at the time.

Google reports anywhere between ( different forces) £800-£1600 £/per hour for the use of.
Obviously there is the cost of the thing initially and the up keep too.
I just wonder how cost effective it really is against other methods?

I often carry a knife and sometimes a gun ( quite legitimately) in my 4x4
I guess the onus would be on the perp to prove reasonable cause ( or whatever the saying is) for carrying such.

One of the first reports I heard as "breaking news" a witness described the car as an "old one" or possibly " a Classic type"

I know its no excuse, but my immediate thought at the time was that it may have been something worth ££ hundreds of thousands,
as I believe the damage was only supposed to have been "slight"

The details and time line is critical in establishing events, witness reports, CCTV, Blood Pattern Analysis (BPA) and the defendants testimony. So it is therefore, 'relevant' to establish when this occurred to either prove or disprove the defendants version of events.

The brutal murder of a of a 79 year old male after a minor accident is both shocking and disturbing. Hopefully lawful justice will be done following an extremely comprehensive and detailed investigation and subsequent trial.
 
If course they could charge him with murder and he deny...then charge him with manslaughter to which he could plead guilty.
Same life sentence option available to the Crown, and no trial.

I guess we'll see.

Murder or Manslaughter, there will still be a Criminal Trial at Crown Court and the Jury will determine the evidence presented and on that basis the defendant will either be found guilty or not guilty.

It does not matter what the suspect says in interview he may,or may not, admit it and as most detained persons are advised to give 'a no comment interview' by their solicitor.

The Police will want to charge the suspect with Murder should there be enough evidence. However, as it so often occurs the CPS will often reduce the charge to Manslaughter. There could well be a plea and direction hearing later on.

Did you actually read what I wrote? Maybe I should draw some wee pictures:facepalm::exit:.

The irrelevant part was aimed at Ruth's comment about it having to have been planned before hand - Quote - "it'll be hard to establish that he deliberately set out before the incident to kill someone." In the circumstances being discussed, this IS irrelevant because there is no requirement to prove this as a matter of necessity in this case (or in any other Murder). The point being it does not have to be planned.

Trust me, I know what it entails to have to prove a Murder, intent etc (albeit it's slightly different north of the border). I'll leave you to do the research if you feel so inclined. I had cause to do it some time ago and do not wish to do so again.
