So today - whats on the deck today for my listening enjoyment - thats the original The Free Story, a great double album. Nice sounds to go with a great drink, my homebrew IPA - 'Hop to it' made with hand picked local wild Hops growing along the river l'Hers just across the farmers field from us.

I’ve always loved Free. One of the very first gigs I went to was seeing them at the Albert Hall around 1970. They were excellent, one of those bands where you’d almost think there was another invisible member playing as well.
 
What number album have you got?
 
Ah, another one over 50,000 in a limited edition of 50,000! (can't remember my number, but it is similar)
 
On the deck today - Hawkwind - Warrior on the Edge of Time, I loved the Mike Moorcock books and he wrote a lot of lyrics for Hawkwind, saw them live circa 1980 in the Colston Hall in Bristol - awesome, queued all night till the ticket office opened to get tickets.

Sounds like we have pretty similar taste in music. I saw Hawkwind several times, great fun to watch what with all the lighting effects, strobes, clouds of dope smoke etc. Have to say though, you missed their best era with Stacia Blake dancing in the nuddy.

I used to read a lot of Moorcock’s books too, the Jerry Cornelius ones were good but Elric was my favourite.

Ah the dancer - she had flu the weekend I saw them so I missed out on that but stood at the back of the Colston and breathed deeply - was a waaaay nice concert - mind you I was in the RAF at the time so made sure it was a couple of days before back on duty :) I enjoyed the Corum series and Elric very much
 
This has been getting a big of use lately since I did pick up a large ish collection recently, like to clean vinyl before playing(old and new), cartridges are expensive so anything to prolong their life.image.jpgWatson record cleaning machine, washes and vacuum dries the vinyl.
 
And on the deck today 17/01 Rush - A Farewell to Kings, saw them live in the Colston Hall as well, the whole stage was wall to wall, stage to ceiling stacks - awesome !

Started spinning up again, after a break (and house move). Trying to figure out what's buggered and what still plays.


Currently listening to "Dalis Car". Bit of a blast from the past ;)

What a great mix these two make :D

On the deck today - don't often buy a film soundtrack - but some just call to me, enjoyed this film more than I thought I would and the soundtrack is pretty fine as well !

If I wasn't so idle I would get my old Pro-Ject turntable out and give Wishbone Ash/ Argus a spin.
Sounds so much better than the digitally remastered CD ever could.

It certainly is worth it if only for rhe dual guitar solo on Throw Down The Sword.
Had about 500 LP's, but only kept about 50 when we moved 26 years ago.
Still got Machine Head, Free Live, Rising, Layla and other assorted Love Songs (double)
Sad Wings of Destiny, Neon Knights, Jailbreak and Straight Shooter to name but a few.
 
Picked up these yesterday, (new Abbey Rd cause the old ones done), now washed/cleaned and playing through this morning before lunch date.IMG_0413.jpeg

I saw them at the Winter Gardens in Malvern. I think they played Silver Machine about three times. :D
 
trip back to UK last week, to Cardiff, it has an excellent 2nd hand record shop in the market - well when they are there you just have to don't you - so on the deck today - Roxy Music, The Atlantic Years, first Roxy Music album in my collection, looking for a couple more !

Been a while but after this weekedn have a 'few' new discs - some awesome discs from the 70s - in this case one of my memorable favourites - Ian Gillan Band, Cool Air Turbulance with cover graphics by Chris Foss, one of my all time favorite artists for Sci-Fi book and album covers - whats not to like !

Just picked up a perfect seemingly never played copy of My Fair Lady by Shelly Manne & his Friends for £1 in a charity shop. A gentle clean on the deck and a perfect play. A disc I'd wanted since the 1950's and a complement to the CD.

One the deck today another recent aquisition, I went to a vide grenier here in France at a friends place - a jumble sale in english, picked up over 30 lps all from around the 70s, as a job lot, won't say how much they cost but to say it was a bargain is to understate reality! oh my there are some awesome crackers in there, this one is pretty good, Focus, Moving waves, includes the track Hocus Pocus, what a voice !

Now starting to work my way through all the 'new' albums i picked up over the weekend, something a bit different to my usual albums, but I am sure many will recognise the group and the single they had - its actually a very easy listening light bluesy album.

I have the self titled Free album and Fire and Water .
 
On the deck today, one of my new aquisitions - I had to make a trip to a well known Swedish DIY type of place to get a bigger storage solution after picking up over 50 albums last weekend to add to my collection, here is another one Wishbone Ash, double album Live dates, quite Bluesy and very different from my usual
