Wife and daughter are out all day and till late tonight at Chalabre Seranade with their jewellery stall, seems to be selling and they have had really nice feedback - another scorching day wall to wall sunshine and mid 30c temps, ah well it is summer and it is south France - anyway my excuse to be in my man cave this afternoon spinning some discs and throwing some darts, only 1 beer though as driving later tonight. Something from my youth, great sounds great memories

Hawkwind
Quark Strangness and Charm -1977

hawkwind-1608.jpg

A bit wacky - some tracks sound like they are a jam session rather than a final cut - but hey it Wizzard and Roy Wood - of course its wacky, but fun and a good sound to listen to

Something to enjoy while throwing a few darts and having a beer this evening, I love the idea of 'New Castle' rather than Newcastle.

So after a few hours chainsawing and then axing a load of wood for the log burners, time to clean the chainsaw and the Axe, something to listen to - Alice Cooper seemed to fit ! Vincent Price speaking the Black Widow was great to hear and the Classis Schools out but by all accounts he was pressured into doing it and hated the album!
Alice Cooper
The Alice Cooper Show 1977

Alice-Cooper-1211.jpg

And for this evening listening while I sample the latest homebrew -

Rush
Archives

a triple album consisting of Rush 1974, Fly by Night 1975 and Caress of Steel 1975

This evenings listen while enjoying a homebrew and throwing a dart or three

Phil Collins

Instead of choosing the next album/Performer I have decided to simply put on the next in the rack from top right to bottom left till I have played them all in whatever order they are currently in

I notice you’re in the vinyl with lid on/down group, I take the lid off and lay it at the side, many discussion on various sites regarding this, each to their own.

yep- this is in my 'man cave' that is to say my garage and includes my workshop space, the walls are old lime mortar so it gets dusty in there, not good for tech and especially not good for vinyl !

Time to check the homebrew and spin a disc, homebrew - KISS pale ale, Keep It Simple Stupid, one variety of hop and one grain with a base yeast, tastes great slightly hoppy but just easy to drink, music, hmm,

Police
Outlandos d'amour 1978

early sting a bit raw but bags of energy and a bit edgy in places so fits quite well with the beer :)

homebrew-15122025.jpgPolice-1109.jpg

Chopped more firewood so a bit more sounds to sooth while cleaning the chainsaw and Axe and having a homebrew

Hot-Chocolate-2412.jpg

A bit more wood cutting and stacking done today to beat the rain/sleet/snow. cleaned Axe and Chainsaw to Genesis Trespass, first press 1970 - yes I am that old, awesome album - my favourite track i guess is The Knife, something about it is timeless, the concepts is as valid today as it was when it was first produced. And thats a sad inditement on our society

genesis-trespass-2512.jpg

Todays spin with a beer and darts,
Dave Clark Five
25 Thumping Great Hits - 1978

the image should be below 500k I resize my images to 1024 x 930 so long as the longest size is 1024 its reasonable for viewing - often have to drop the quality to 80% ish as well in photoshop but any software to edit images will do it - when you save as a jpg it tells you the size of the image in k just make it fit under 500k. no idea what image editor ipads have but i suspect there will be one or an app you can download onto it to do this

1st spin of the year while cleaning the chainsaw and sharpening the Axe after some woodchopping, a bit of 'Glam Rock', I remember this lot in the charts when I was at school

yeah gods, yes I am that old !

Todays spin while cleaning the axe and chainsaw, prob my all time favourite of theirs, saw them live in the Colston Hall, Bristol, UK in 1982. Great gig. I remember camping on the steps all night in the queue to get tickets, oh and this was the old Colston Hall, not the newfangled thing
Hawkwind
Warrior on the edge of Time - 1975

hawkwind-woteot1402.jpg

todays spin while having a homebrew,
Elton John
Caribou - 1974 - it cost me £3.29 !
For me while it has Don't let the sun go down on me on it - Ticking is my favourite for sheer power of the lyrics. overall a great album

Elton-John-1802.jpg

Some great sounds for the afternoon while clearing out my man cave of an accumulation of rubbish. And having a cheeky little home brew :-) Picked it up from a local 2nd hand record shop for £5 - bargain

Roxy Music

The Atlantic Years 1973 - 1980

Since getting a new amp which has a built in streamer I’m finding it hard to get vinyl on the deck, the wife has a few-well a lot- of country/americana radio stations programmed in, need to get her out the house more often so I can be ‘in charge’ of the hifi.
