If I could have a second car it would be an MX5 and on the subject, the Xmas Topgear will feature one on their middle eastern adventure ;-)

Saw the ad for this last night, I can't wait for TG to start again. The Iraq adventure should be good but I don't think anything will beat the Antarctic adventure - that was awesome.

All part of the charm!
Great pic of your current Civic Alan. I'd love to get a shot like that of mine.
Somebody really really wants their parking space left alone....![]()
There's a few here who have the BMW 320D ED and although they are definitely built cheaper than the standard BMW 3 series (to save weight), their engines really are outstanding. 0-60mph in less than 8 seconds but can also return almost 70mpg! Now that is good!
I was so sure they said Iraq, I did wonder right enough.![]()

The ED cars have Efficient Dynamics, which does not have any weight saving over the previous car. P.S. Once the ED cars were introduced the "standard" was dropped - there is no alternative.
I'm not sure what you are seeing about cheaper build? Cheaper build than what?
Definitely Iraq: Clarkson's been talking about it on Radio 5 just now.
When your diesel is red lined mine's not even on cam.
But do you think he could point out Iraq and/or Israel on a map? It was possibly supposed to be Israel but he missed the turning.
i used to have a mini like that..
over bored to 1380cc, forged dish pistons, lightlened/balanced/knifed crank, large valve head, HIF44 carb, kent 286 cam, straight cut box..

48IDA please![]()
ah yes, no room for a sidedraught Weber between the engine and the bulkhead in a Mini unless you use a tiny manifold. Forgot about that.
or weld a fapping great box into the bulkhead.. but for balls out NA power on a mini the 48 wins every time.

Must have made one hell of a racket...

Renault Kangoo RXi, blooming lovely to drive it is, big load of space for the kids, huge boot space great for camping, tax dirt cheap, drinks next to nothing and we have the lift up back door version which is ace for shelter and even better with the Outwell canopy when picnic'ing..
do I win? :bonk::razz:![]()
a remapped mk4 golf gti 1.8 20valve turbo, it'll be 11 years old next month but i still love it. fast enough to be entertaining but low-key enough not to attract the attention of the boy racer brigade (of which i'm a former member going by my previous car history according to my girlfriend lol). it hasn't been washed since about august and is more brown than black now, but it still carries the shopping home from tescos and takes me and the better half to work. plus it has red seats which, in my 6 year old nephews enlightened view, make it cooler than his dads car and goddammit that's good enough for me.
if i was in a position to buy a newer car i'd probably only buy a fresher version of the gti. if only i could be as satisfied with my camera i'd be sorted lol
