WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Small matter of a football match at the Racecourse this evening.....amazing how much capacity for tears one man has,,,,(of joy)

A 90 mile round trip to fill a bike up with super-unleaded. Ironically, the trip milometer now reads exactly what it did when I set off this morning! At least 1/2 the fuel is fresh now (and E5 is a LOT more stable than E10.)

I had a pack of marzipan left over from making the Christmas cake and as I've always liked marzipan fruits I thought I'd make something at home and I settled on chocolate covered marzipan. I melted a milk chocolate Twin Peaks bar, cut the marzipan up into small squares and dipped them in the chocolate and I now have a box full of chocolate covered marzipan pieces in the fridge :D I've got as much marzipan left so I'll make some more when these have all gone :D

If you bake fruity cakes, chop some marzipan up into raisin sized chunks and add them to the recipe with the fruit... Goes some way to explaining my weight!!!

I'm moving house next week and no that's not what's cheering me up, even though I've done it more times than I care to remember It's not got any less stressful, WCMUT was I looked into changing my address for my car insurance and I could do it all online and it was dead easy just put in the new address and a little box pops up stating that this may change the price of your policy click to see, so with a little in trepidation I click the box and up it pops we will reduce your price by £1.10.

A small flock of free range chickens I regularly walk past has finally been released from bird flu lockdown.

The rooster was letting everyone know how happy he was about it.

Sounds lovely I'm very partial to marzipan myself but beware as you've mentioned your weight. I have the regular blood checks and try to keep sugars down top 3-5 mmol/L. Anything above and no cake etc with afternoon coffee for a couple of weeks. At 12'6 not too much to worry about re weight but nevertheless.....

WCMUT,

Proud dad moment. So I'm playing Third Eye, by Tool, my favourite band for the last 100 years. I say to my 11 year old daughter, this is a good song. She goes "yeah Dad, Third Eye, it's epic, heard it tons".

Not a song for sensitive ears but she's growing up fast, so it seems.

My son has been a crazy obsessed Liverpool FC fan for the last year or so since getting into football properly and I'm thrilled that it's not Rangers or Celtic.

The rivalry is fierce between those 2 for sure (Rangers, Celtic).

40 or so years ago, I worked in a pub in Glasgow. On derby days, most pubs and bars were closed and shuttered in anticipation of the next day's headlines. For good reason!!!

But you are the polis :D

Not sure if you said it in a Haribo ad voice, but that's how I heard it!

WCMUT is my new Himalayan Salt Inhaler, since I was 18yr old I have had a cough smoking never helped I must admit then having COPD. It has now been a few days of me using this salt inhaler and this morning for the first time in many years woke up and not one cough at all. Managed to go down the stairs quickly with my wife this morning and then back up, not out of breath at all is a hell of a great feeling, so will carry on using this from now on.

WCMUT was finding my 10 litre petrol can. Not something I've used for a couple of years but it being bright red helped me spot it in the garage.

WCMUT.

My local hospital has a new giant illuminated display in the entrance hall featuring jokes to lighten the spirit of those passing through. Today’s offering:

“If you suffer a serious illness over the Bank Holiday contact your GP”

Is it a Paddy Hopkirk one? :D
Do you mean the Explosafe? We carried one of those in the boot of various cars for many years.

It might have been. It was bright red metal unlike most plastic ones :) Mine was stolen from the boot of my mini along with my wheel wrench and spare wheel (with a new tyre on!). I was so upset at the time, although they used the wrench to steal my neighbour's wheels off his Capri which put things into perspective. We laugh about it now, but my husband said it was the way I called it my Paddy Hopkirk can, rather than my petrol can :)

If it had the yellow band around the centre join, then it might well have been. Ours came with the "chequered flag" sticker on the side, which mysteriously disappeared one Sunday morning, only to reappear in our daughter's bedroom! ;)

No, it's a 10 litre (1/2 height) Jerry can. Used to use 20 litre ones when I had an old Diesel Landy with an iffy fuel gauge.

Only bothering with a can because the closest fuel station to the place Mrs Nod's bike is coming from doesn't have Super Unleaded at the moment and I'm not sure how far the thing will go on what it'll be supplied with.

New bike - exciting!

She's just completed her CBT so needs a learner bike. Hopefully picking it up on Wednesday.

ETA... I'm not allowed any more (unless I sell one to make room...) but there's space for hers!!!

Had a lovely visit to The British Wildlife Centre, first time since before the pandemic, was great to catch up with a couple
of the keepers that are still there, had to promise I'd take a cake next time.
While was writing down Meg's contact details so I could check she'd be there, I put my phone down !
Got back to the car and realised I'd lost it.
Walked back to where we had been hoping that was where I'd left it and it wasn't there
Looked up and there was Tom walking towards me waving the phone at me, he'd found it and guessed it was mine
Definitely going to have to go back with the cake now :)
