WCMUT....what cheered me up today

A mate of ours has a "translator" that reduces the bat sounds' frequencies to an audible tone. I can only just hear that, even with my hearing aids in!

Next time I see a bat flitting round the street lights, I'm going to try the "rubbing dry fingers together" trick that's supposed to attract them - apparently the noise sounds like moths flying.

A heterodyne detactor. I have one, and a full spectrum one that records for software analysis
Good luck with rubbing your fingers together. Most of the smaller bats (pipistrelles and the like) are probably after smaller critters. Go somewhere where they're hunting over gardens or a field and stand out in the open. If you just keep still they can come within inches of you

15 (at a guess!) years ago, we were walking up the lane from Tintagel Castle at just after dusk and there were loads of bats flitting about just over our heads. Several other people around too so the bats weren't being shy!

I've seen the bats that are local to us here taking moths from under the street light so they might respond to the fingers - worth a try, anyway!

I'd be more worried about them than myself!

Seeing Hares box, chase and then 'hug' ;)

Also had a laugh when following the Hares..
I pass a huge pile of muck everyweek no issues, the muck is from local stables and a local wildlife park, Elephant, Rhino etc.. in the relentless rains the slurry has got deeper but the tractor must 'dug' a hole by spinning a wheel..

Guess who did a Vicar of Dibley in the poo...

After lunch today (and a shortish walk), we popped in to one of the clothes shops at Dawlish Warren to see what this year's Old Guys Rule designs are. Had to buy 2 of the design below since it's my vintage!

WCMUT?
Germinating sunflower seeds in 6 days using the wet paper towel & zip lock bag method.
But it has to be said, the bag was in the corner of one of my snake environments at +25oC and "true-lights"

McLaren orange!

It's the updated version of the one I've got. Just have to wait 8-10 weeks.
Are they getting any lighter Marc? I moved a pals some years ago and it weighed a 'ton'.

It's certainly one of the lighter ones (7kg without the wheels). I can lift it out of the boot with one hand. My current one is titanium and the new one is aluminium which is a few grams heavier but I'm getting lighter wheels

Its Papaya :)
It's orange although that's a CG mock up so no idea of what it'll actually look like.

I was referring to Nod, McLaren F1 Cars are Papaya in colour not Orange, they are quite specific on the matter,

I thought that in 2022 is was updated Fluro Papaya orange?

Since the late '60s, assorted race cars and pre-season liveries have been orange. Their latest road cars may well be called papaya but that's a shade of orange!

I was referring to their current crop of Race cars be that F1 or Indycar. A number of McLaren employees, when it’s mentioned about the orange livery have replied “It’s Papaya.” Wasnt a personal dig.

WCMUT ( well yesterday now)
The car passing the MOT, with no advisories.

It's always a bit of a worry when you MOT a car for the first time of ownership...

Waiting for that part here!

Following on from that, the seeds I germinated were from bird seed.
Google told me to soak them overnight in warm water, those that sunk were viable.
These were the ones that I germinated.
Not being one to trust google 100% I did it again, with 6 seeds, 2 sunk, 4 didn't.
All 6 went into a ziplock bag, wet paper towel. 2 germinated, 4 didn't.

There was also mention that it takes off the growth inhibiter, I have to say, although the seeds looked clean,
the resulting water was rather dirty.

If all these seeds reach adulthood, I'm not sure where I'm going to put all these plants :D
At least I should get some viable seeds for next year, after storing them in the fridge over winter.

Still Game. Always cheers me up!

Temperature back down to normal range and I wasn't woken up by needing to cough. Feeling (as close to) human again (as usual!).

First time since introducing skipping (jump rope) into my exercise routine I've completed 10 sets of 20 secs. without once tripping up or stopping. I was so pleased that I did 30 secs. on the last one. My left calf is moaning at me a bit for that.
