WBMT.....What baffled me today

When I was fifteen, I was taken to an Indian restaurant for a family meal, At that age, we often do things which, sooner rather than later, we regret. On that occassion it was insisting, against all advice, on having a Vindaloo...
:tumbleweed:

Vindaloo  When I were a lad and went out on Saturday night dances ...Liverpool,Manchester, Warrington, Northwich, Rivington Barn near Chorley/Bolton if anyone knows ..knew. it..Southport, All over really and would go to an Indian for a meal afterwards and unbelievably, sometimes, had vindaloo . I can still recall the waiters 'warning' us that it was veeeeery hot. As you say, when you're young..we were 17/18 ..it was nothing less than bravado. I recall that after a couple of them I dropped down to Madras...lol. One dish I had in Warrington was a Persian dish with pillau rice and 2 slices of banana on top. I've never forgotten it nor found out what it was. Possibly a byriani.

If you've never eaten curry, how do you know what the taste and texture are like? A curry is not just one dish - there are hundreds of variations...
Read again. I did not say I had never eaten curry but that I would never eat it. I have never eaten curry in a restaurant so I may well not have tried the best. However, the basic flavour of curry is just revolting to me. Basically I like french cooking and high standard british cooking, having eaten at several of the highest rated restaurants. Scandinavian and Italian food is fine as well. I prefer subtle flavours which do not need heavy spices. Probably the most extreme I have tried is Indonesian food in Holland. I am happy with Chinese food as we have in the west and Thai food can also be very pleasant.

Probably that the sheep you were knocking off the other day has sheep flu so as a close contact you should be tested?

He'll only get fleeced on the price

:D

Better than biblically "knowing" a camel - they get the hump...

Just seen an advert for Amazon last minute Xmas deals, 1st to 23rd December, if that’s last minute what do they call getting the last Terry’s chocolate orange for herself just before shutting time on the 24th?
The Xmas ads will end and the January sales ads will start, Will they persuade us to buy something we didn’t need at a ‘special’ price? Not in this house.

Supermarket staff will be in on boxing day, swapping the solstice puds for eostris eggs.

I ordered 4 items from Amazon, during the week
3 prime ( next day delivery)
1 from market place ETA 3-5 days.
2 prime arrived on time,
1 prime is "delayed" and won't be here for a further 1-2 days.
1 Market place now has an ETA of a further 11 days!!
Its been dispatched ( allegedly) I guess they put that so they can blame RM or the which ever
courier they chose.

It can't be xmas yet - there are no Easter eggs in the shops yet...

Got an email from British Gas asking me to select a new tariff as the current one expires at the end of January. Current one is £61pm, new ones are £197/£204pm!

The default variable rate is cheaper. They're buggers for trying to get people to fix at the moment.

I think current advice is to choose variable as the fixed are bound to be very high due to price rises/uncertainty.

So let me get this right.

  • I have been banned from driving 5 times
  • I am currently banned
  • I have no insurance
  • I am over the drink drive limit
  • I am over (or have taken) the drug drive limit
  • I get a suspended sentence!!!
Wow, what am amazing justice system we have in this country!

Words do fail me - should have been banged up for years!

I agree what does someone like that have to do to get properly punished
Obviously doesn’t care about anyone else

WBMT is how I missed the memo that "no left/right turn" signs, red traffic lights etc. were made suggestions rather than rules.

Don't feel bad, I missed the one here about lane discipline at roundabouts.

Bet you miss the works truck sometimes! Used to send people away/around again when I had the Landy but I'm a little more protective of what we have these days.

I missed the memo where you have to put the front wheels on the give way sign there by protruding 3ft of car into oncoming traffic. If i drove an armoured Humvee and no insurance the streets would be littered with wrecked cars...

That's (in part, at least) to modern car design and extra long crumple zones. First appeared with Volvos (in the UK.)

It'll be 4 weeks tomorrow since I went to an Indian Restaurant in Sheffield with my Martial Arts club as part of their Christmas do, I don't eat Curry, but they did Chicken and chips (I Googled the menu before confirming with the teacher that I was going) so it was OK.

WBMT is that no-one has been baffled by anything for two weeks.
Baffling!

And some posts are more baffling than others ...

I think he may have been baffled because he wasn’t baffled … errr, if you see what I mean, all very baffling, appropriately.
I find it all the more baffling that he told us he wasn't baffled... :tumbleweed:

Any photos?

I bought a faraday pouch for my car keys, supposedly new from Amazon. Opened them up and found this inside!!! Someones bank card, how the hell did that happen?20211207_071006.jpg

The card in the picture looks like it's got the raised name and numbers. Never had a fake one with those - they've always been simple card ones rather than plastic too.
