WBMT.....What baffled me today

The card in the picture looks like it's got the raised name and numbers. Never had a fake one with those - they've always been simple card ones rather than plastic too.
Maybe Amazon are sending unsolicited genuine cards that need activating by signing up for an account. Banks etc did send unsolicited cards years ago — I remember getting an American Express “charge card” out of the blue, though never used it. Maybe 40 years ago though.

Its a real card, signed on the back too, by a Mr Moffat.
It’s quite common to read in reviews about people receiving used/previously sold goods. I guess Mr Moffat tried his card in the wallet, didn't like it and returned forgetting to remove the card.

The sky was clear. It was quite mild for the time of year. I got my polishing kit out of the garage. The sky turned black and there were spots of rain. How did it know that I wanted to polish the car? It's not the first time that has happened! I must clear more stuff out of the garage so that I can put the car in there. That is what it was built for!!!

If you’ve been vaccinated it was probably the Bill Gates chip in the vaccine, simples. And nobody keeps a car in a garage - personal observation ;).

Yep that was my guess too.

Keep my car in the garage, wife’s car is on the drive.
I remember a customer telling me how after an accident the assessor called to look at the car, unfortunately the garage door was open and the chap could not help but see it was rammed full with junk, claim denied as the car was allegedly kept in the garage when not is use. Knowing how insurance companies will try to wriggle out of making any payment I’m tempted to believe him.

Not really baffling but more unexpected.
Last year ( 2021) for the 1st time, I decided to grow a few sweet peas from seed, that I bought.
They were quite prolific covering best part of my back fence.

One has finally just finished in the last few days! So I decided to take it down.
On opening some of the seed pods, I saw that the seeds were beginning to germinate inside the pods.
These were taken and placed on top of a good medium, and placed in a cool dark space for now.
Looks like I may get an early crop if they survive..

I never even thought about this before, I just assumed that they'd fall to the ground and germinate there.
I'll leave the last plant standing for a bit longer to see if any more germinate in the pods.

They'll start wherever they're damp and warm enough to do so and if the shorter and damper but warm days mean they're ripe before the pods are ready to "pop", they'll get the head start! The ones you've planted should be fine but are unlikely to breed true (as I'm sure you're aware), especially if the originals are F1 hybrids. Hopefully they'll be pretty and smell good for you.

As I write I'm watching last night's Doctor Who on BBC Iplayer in another tab, without posting spoilers it's very weird.

Do sweet peas need vernalisation? If so they may have got it in the recent frost — if indeed @Cobra had one in the sunny soft South.

Pretty sure not. I collected some seeds in late summer a couple of years ago and they germinated and grew on without being frosted. Being 2nd generation from F1 hybrids, they weren't anywhere near as pretty or fragrant as the parents BUT such things are very random so Chris may well have better luck than I did!

Damp? it hasn't stopped raining here for about 10 days, warm? hardly.

We've had a couple of hard frosts and about half in of snow laying for a couple of days, back in November.
I know that lots of seeds need stratifying especially exotic ones to start the germination process, so the above was my best guess.

Last night I watched the Manchester United V Aston Villa game and after it was over decided to watch the 10.00pm ITV news rather than the BBC. On the way from BBC1 to ITV I caught a glimpse of a programme on BBC2 so I paused for a momnent or so. It was a documentary about a New York therapist trying to sort out the marriage problems of several couples. I just saw some of the exchanges with the first couple. I later read the write-up on it which outlined this first session. It stated that the husband, called Mau...a smug self-righteous seemingly narcissistic man in his 30's said, "What I want is to have zero responsibility and to have all the sex I want without any work on my part, of any kind" Another husband feels plagued by his wife who constantly calls him at work and Laurent(who describes herself as a Trans) frequently clashing with her partner Sarah about whether to have a child..To top it all ,the cameras are there to record the therapist in a session with her own therapist about the stress her job causes her . One for the voyeurists in society, I'd have thought.

What really does amaze and baffle me ,hence the post in this thread, is why people have no qualms about airing their relationship difficulties infront of the nation ? No amount of money would tempt me to do that. I'm aware of the outrageous goings on with the Jeremy Kyle show but, whilst channel-hopping on a lazy afternoon I have seen snippets of it some yeas ago . Snippets of it are all any right-minded person could tolerate. The participants are of low IQ but the couples in last night's programme were intelligent people. The mind boggles

I took my wife to a hospital this morning for a steroid injection to a painful hip/thigh.It required local anaesthetic. She was called into the room by nurse who took some details and then prepared her for the procedure to be carried out by a doctor. She started taking the left shoulder of my wife's dress off the shoulder and taking it down enough to be able to smear what I assume was antiseptic gel onto her skin.. My wife thought that it was rather a long way from her hip and asked the nurse why that area was being prepared when the injection was going to go into her thigh. The nurse then went to look at my wife's notes and said..Oops..sorry.

reminds me of when my father went for his second cataract operation, the theatre was all set up for the procedure to be carried out again on the eye which had already been operated on previously. The surgeon was not amused.....

What I want to know who is Jack?
The guy never asked for a name and I've never been known as "Jack"

I’ve heard of people not knowing their arse from their elbow but that’s worrying

WBMT?
Well actually yesterday now.
Doing a little woodwork, I managed to break the skin on my wrist,
I don't know whow I did it, or why it wouldn't stop bleeding, I must have lost, ooo, around 3 pints of blood..
Changing the dressing this morning I could see it really wasn't much more than a nick, but quite deep
and right on top of a surface vein.
No wonder I had trouble stemming to blood.

Bloody Donut

Not my fault - I've not been Krispy and Kreemy for ages!

WBM a couple of days ago was hauling Mrs Nod's car door open with some force into my shin. Not a hint of a bruise, despite it feeling like I'd shattered my tibia into at least 20 pieces!

WBMT Seeing that my order should be delivered by the 20th of this month and found said order through my letterbox today (12th )! They weren't wrong!

Didn't think to examine the bottom of the car door for dentage!!!

The stupidity of some people. I know Ryanair can split opinion but when you and pay £30 to fly somewhere what do you expect! But saw one post today moaning he missed his flight as he got to airport 1.5 hours before flight and as airport was busy, he missed it, wants to know if he can claim from them!!! This despite their and general recommendation is that you get there 2 hours (I tend to be at least 2,5 hours).

Like Simon, we get there early rather than risk missing the flight. Pre covid, we took the bus up to the airport and allowed an extra 2 hours in case of bus problems. Much better to have to waste an hour or 2 in the airport than miss the flight!

I booked a City Taxi to the Theatre this afternoon, booked it at 12.30 for a 14.30 trip to the Lyceum, Taxi never turned up! So my support worker had to book and pay for an Uber because Dad can't drive at the moment having just had his eyes done.

I'm not happy at all about that as it means I can't get to places but if he risks driving and we all have an accident, we'd probably end up brown bread.

It always looks more when it’s your own  .
Looking down and seeing a handful of blood, I was pretty sure it was mine :D

WBMT?
Well most days TBH.
People that have plenty of room on their drives, but insist on leaving at least one car outside someone else house, in the road :thinking

We have extended our drive sideways so we can get everything on it. Unfortunately, 2 neighbours have carers and one is often parked so we can't get anything out! Luckily, it's fairly rare that we MUST get out in a (relative) hurry so it's only a small PITA to go across the road to ask them to move. Even more luckily, we almost always know in advance when we're likely to NEED to get out quickly so we park on Mrs Next-Door's drive. By standing invitation, of course! (We do her shopping and give her lifts when necessary.)

I have a slightly similar problem. People (I guess) come off the A1 (M) into town and pass through with no casual stopping place, up the hill with no verge/pavement and my house is on the first straight bit. So they stop across my drive (the kerb & grass verge before it is roo high to open a door) to check maps, change drivers or whatever. Drives the dog bonkers thinking it’s a delivery and sometimes I want to drive out at that moment. Occasionally delivery drivers etc do the same but leave the vehicles there. There are no parking restrictions anywhere on this stretch! :(

Just across the road from the Flat, right at the top of my road is a busy road which is the main thoroughfare through to the City Centre, I've lived in the area 15 and half years and have been saying for most of that time that the road between the top of St Philips Road/Watery St is in dire need of a crossing, especially as there's disabled people in the area and not just me.

I've finally lost it, although I guess I shouldn't be baffled ...

I just tried to take off my reading glasses ...
.... that I wasn't wearing!

That's because I'm not wearing them either.

WBMY was the people who decided that it would be a good idea to go for a sea swim during the storm. Apparently the Coastguard overrode Darwin.

Some people are just beyond stupid - they should be sectioned.

They would have expected others to put their lives at risk to save them if it had gone wrong I expect . . .
